Modeling and simulating aircraft takeoff performance on aircraft carriers
Aircraft carriers are strategically significant military platforms in today's world and
constitute crucial elements that bolster the strength of naval forces. They provide maritime
mobility, enabling the execution of various missions, particularly playing critical roles in
tasks such as air defense, sea control, attack operations, and humanitarian aid. Aircraft
carriers contribute to the achievement of strategic objectives such as ensuring air superiority
and controlling maritime regions.
Catapult systems, a significant component of aircraft carriers, are utilized to accelerate the
takeoff of aircraft and ensure their safe ascent from the vessel. These systems facilitate
operational flexibility and efficiency by enabling aircraft to accelerate and take off over short
distances. Catapult systems enhance the operational capacity of aircraft carriers by enabling
aircraft to take off with heavier loads and over shorter distances.
In line with this, within the scope of the thesis, suitable aerial vehicles for aircraft carriers
have been modelled using MATLAB Simulink, and the accuracy of theoretical information
has been observed. This research represents an important step in understanding the effects
of catapult systems, a critical aspect of aircraft carriers, and aims to provide valuable
Spatialities between property and the commons: an interval of tolerance
This paper examines the relations of 'space' with 'property' and 'commons'. Property is an exclusionary mechanism that regulates human relationships through space based on ownership, boundary, and control. Contrarily, the commons is a spatial practice of encounter, collaboration, and sharing, open to all kinds of participation of the multitude. With a research methodology grounded in the principle of 'tolerance', this study questions the spatialities between property and the commons, with or without coexistence and communication. To achieve this, a diagrammatical method for 'a theoretical reading over an interval' is generated, which enables a debate on the property and the commons over a conceptual graph of connections of 'spatial tendencies', 'theoretical structures', and 'spatial activism'. The 'interval of tolerance' graph reveals the connections as a tolerance environment for encountering differences and ensuring spatial relations. Thus, the expansion of networks of connections means the expansion of tolerance. The study concludes that the interval of tolerance narrows towards property but broadens towards the commons, which means spatial toleration is high in the commons, but low in property
Functional spaces in small houses characteristic of intercave multifunctional spaces in residential buildings
Responding to changes is the biggest challenge at the present time. The world has changed
over time due to factors like environmental shifts, technological advancements, financially
shifts, etc., which have caused changes in human needs and requirements as well. As a result,
social and physical spaces have had to alter in order to create an environment that is both
acceptable and comfortable for users. Residential spaces are comprehensive for all human
needs, which began to respond to the change in the increasing population growth and urban
development of cities through what are called small homes. The term small house has
become the basic type of spaces adopted in housing, and the functional spaces in the small
house have been modified to face these continuous changes to be an “interactive” space, as
the research defined the interactive space as the space that is associated with the user and
interacts with him by achieving a response to the continuous change in his needs, which is
accomplished in three ways: altering the interior space environment and social requirements;
altering the space physically or functionally; altering the space technically and
technologically; and even adding multipurpose furniture. These responses illustrate the traits
of interactive spaces found in compact homes. Three major projects are explored in this study
including Project (A): Ciel et Terre Residential Tower / Molestina Architekten, project (B):
Via Verde—The Green Way, and Project (C): MVRDV focusing on sustainability,
flexibility, economy and environmental benefits as main theme. Findings suggests that
MVRDV is more sustainable and flexible than rest of two and will offer a comfortable life to its dwellers. The primary objective of the research was to determine which attributes are
most crucial to have. Small-sized homes can benefit from interactive space to maximize use
and provide a cozy atmosphere for their occupants: These spaces need to be able to adapt
continuously to changes in the internal environment (sustainable), to changes in the space's
functionality and design (flexible), and to changes in the space's advancement of technology
(smart)
Assessing the utility of text-to-image tools in generating various architectural representational techniques
Over time, the field of architecture has seen and passed by various technologies, from the
simple usage of computers to the generative AI era that we live nowadays. Text-to-image
AI is a current state-of-the-art technology, that is revolutionizing today's life, by being used
in many domains and for various purposes. Architecture is one of the realms that has been
adopting this technology recently. This thesis aims to explore the use of text-to-image tools
in the field, by investigating their potential for shaping one of the basics of architectural
design, which is architectural representational techniques, through a comparative study
based on rating, by generating various architectural representational techniques using five
different text-to-image tools available online, and presented to architects raters to rate the
different generated images by these tools for the different representational techniques. The
results of this study show the different aspects of text-based image-generation tools and how
they can handle the generation of the representational techniques differently and propose the
use of a multi-tool approach for better results while considering the variety of the generated
images, which provides valuable insight into the use of these technologies in a more efficient
way and can also shape the basics for future studies for deeper discoveries

Examining the influence of Turkish political alliances on voter decisions
The economy is the most important factor influencing voters' decision-making processes.
Evaluating economic developments and considering ideology and social policies during
elections can be beneficial. Long-term factors like voter values and demographics play a
role, while short-term factors include politicians' discourse and promises. Media and
voters' decisions are interconnected during elections. In Türkiye, ideological factors
impact the economy due to its diverse culture. Media becomes a platform where
politicians combine ideology with the economy. Psychological, sociological, economic,
and ideological effects arise from this situation. The study emphasizes the significance of
the economy in the 2018 and 2023 elections in Türkiye, with inflation and unemployment
affecting voters' support for political parties. Voters tend to support alliances based on
ideologies, social policies, and partisanship. Political alliances strategically target voters'
interests and use partisanship and ideology to mobilize emotions. Political parties aim to
appeal to the median voter and prioritize the economy. The study also mentions changes
in voter clusters and their impact on voting behavior and political geography.

An unusual case of left-sided hemitruncus arteriosus associated with aortic arch hypoplasia
Hemitruncus arteriosus is among the rarest congenital cardiovascular defects. Pathology usually involves the right pulmonary artery. It may occur either isolated or associated with other cardiac defects such as septal defects and tetralogy of Fallot; however, it is seldom associated with aortic arch pathologies. We represent an unusual case of a 15-day-old neonate with left-sided hemitruncus arteriosus associated with aortic arch hypoplasia, coarctation of the aorta, patent ductus arteriosus, and craniofacial abnormalities, who underwent surgical correction
TOPSIS methodapproach in ranking coffee bean quality
Coffee is the second-most traded commodity after oil. Quantifying the quality of coffee is a critical topic of research. Many aspects such as the taste of coffee, bean defects, production conditions, and sustainability conditions are considered for rating the quality. In this study, the best alternative method for quality standards accepted by Coffee Quality Institute (CQI) was discussed. The web scraping method and the Python 3.10.5 program was used to obtain the data in the CQI database. Aroma, taste profile, aftertaste, acidity, body, taste balance, stability, cleanliness, sweetness qualities were believed to positively affect quality. First-category defect, second-category defect, and its light color after roasting were considered to negatively affect coffee quality. The Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) was used to select the best among the alternatives. In the weighting step, both the entropy method and equal weighting were used, and their positive and negative aspects were explained and discussed
