    Sosyal kaygı ve nomofobi arasındaki ilişkide sosyal medya bağımlılığının aracı rolünün incelenmesi

    Bu çalışmada iki temel amaç bulunmaktadır. Birinci amaç, sosyal medyada geçirilen günlük süre ile sosyal medya bağımlılığı arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. İkinci amaç ise sosyal kaygı ve kaçınma ile nomofobi arasındaki ilişkide sosyal medya bağımlılığının aracı rolünü incelemektir. Çalışmanın örneklemini 20 – 35 yaş aralığındaki toplam 444 genç yetişkin oluşturmaktadır. Katılımcılar kolayda örnekleme yöntemi kullanılarak seçilmiştir. Katılımcılara sırasıyla Bilgilendirilmiş Onam Formu, Demografik Bilgi Formu, Liebowitz Sosyal Kaygı Ölçeği, Nomofobi Ölçeği ve Sosyal Medya Bağımlılığı Ölçeği – Yetişkin Formu sunulmuştur. Çalışmanın birinci amacına yönelik ilk hipotezinde; sosyal medyada geçirilen günlük süre ile sosyal medya bağımlılığı arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Çalışmanın ikinci amacı doğrultusundaki ikinci hipotezinde; sosyal kaygı ile nomofobi arasındaki ilişkide sosyal medya bağımlılığının aracılık rolünün olduğu bulunmuştur. Çalışmanın ikinci amacı doğrultusundaki üçüncü hipotezinde; sosyal kaçınma ile nomofobi arasındaki ilişkide sosyal medya bağımlılığının aracılık rolünün olduğu bulunmuştur. Çalışmanın sonuçlarına bakıldığında, sosyal medya bağımlılığının nomofobinin ortaya çıkmasındaki en önemli faktörlerden biri olduğu gösterilmiştirThere are two main aims in this study. The first aim is to examine the relationship between daily time spent on social media and social media addiction. The second aim is to examine the mediating role of social media addiction in the relationship between social anxiety and avoidance with nomophobia. The sample of the study consisted of a total of 444 young adults between the ages of 20 – 35. Participants were selected using convenience sampling method. Informed Consent Form, Demographic Information Form, Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale, Nomophobia Scale and Social Media Addiction Scale – Adult Form were presented to the participants respectively. In the first hypothesis for the first objective of the study; a significant relationship was found between the daily time spent on social media and social media addiction. In the second hypothesis in line with the second aim of the study; it was found that social media addiction has a mediating role in the relationship between social anxiety and nomophobia. In the third hypothesis in line with the second objective of the study, it was found that social media addiction has a mediating role in the relationship between social avoidance and nomophobia. The results of the study showed that social media addiction is one of the most important factors in the emergence of nomophobia

    The effect of AI on DNA sequencing an overview of the process between history and present with ethical analysis

    The expense of DNA sequencing methods has fallen by many orders of magnitude over the previous decade, with a commensurate improvement in speed and capacity. It took around 15 years for the Human Genome Project to finalize the human genome sequence with the advent of second and third-generation technology, the process of DNA sequencing can now be accomplished in just a matter of days or even hours. This has resulted in a significant increase in the accessibility of sequencing tools to researchers, leading to the replacement of traditional approaches with DNA sequencing and opening up new avenues of research. DNA sequencing is crucial in understanding fundamental biological processes and is expected to become increasingly important in various fields of medicine. (Preimplantation diagnostics, cancer, infectious diseases). Current estimates place the cost of sequencing one human genome at around $1,000. Without a doubt, we may expect advancements in current technologies as well as the progress of fourth-generation technologies in the upcoming decades. Artificial intelligence (AI) on the other hand plays a substantial role in the analysis and interpretation of DNA sequence data. DNA sequencing creates massive volumes of data that might be difficult to understand without computational tools. Machine learning and deep learning AI techniques may be used to evaluate and understand this data, resulting in new insights and discoveries. One key use of AI in DNA sequencing is the identification of genetic variants linked to medical conditions. Machine learning algorithms can uncover patterns in data that are predictive of illness risk by evaluating massive datasets of DNA sequences from persons with and without a certain conditon. This knowledge may subsequently be applied to the development of unique diagnostic tests and therapies

    Yapılan araştırmada evli bireylerin, stresle başa çıkma tarzları ve evlilikte olan uyumları arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesi ve daha iyi bir noktaya taşımak için öneriler sunmak amaçlanmıştır. Bu bağlamda evli bireylerin stresle başa çıkma stratejileri ve evlilik uyumları ölçülerek değişkenler arası incelemeler yapılmıştır. Yanı sıra cinsiyet, yaş, eğitim durumu, evlilik yaşı ve evlilik yılına göre değerlendirmeler yapılmıştır. Katılımcılara bilgi verilerek, Stresle Başa Çıkma Tarzları Ölçeği, Evlilikte Uyum Ölçeği ve Çok Boyutlu Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği uygulanmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini, 150 çift oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma yapılırken evli çiftlerde sosyal desteğin etkisi olduğu düşünüldüğünden bu etki göz ardı edilmeyerek çalışmaya eklenmiştir. Sosyal destek kontrol altına alındığında, evli çiftlerin stresle başa çıkma tarzı puanlarının, aynı ve problem odaklı stresle başa çıkma tarzının (X =33,96), aynı ve duygu odaklı stresle başa çıkma tarzına (X =30,86) ve farklı stresle başa çıkma tarzına (X =28,43) göre daha yüksek olduğu bulunmuştur. Sonuç olarak çiftlerin aynı seçimle problem odaklı stresle başa çıkmada evlilik uyumunun en yüksek olduğu, sonrasında benzer duygu odaklının ve devamında farklı seçimlerin olduğu en düşük veri olarak elde edilmiştir.The aim of the study was to examine the relationship between married individuals' styles of coping with stress and their adjustment in marriage and to offer suggestions to move it to a better point. In this context, analyzes were made between variables by measuring the stress coping strategies and marital adjustment of married individuals. In addition, evaluations were made according to gender, age, educational status, marriage age and marriage year. Participants were informed and the Stress Coping Styles Scale, Marital Adjustment Scale and Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale were administered. The sample of the research consists of 150 couples. As a result, it was obtained that the marital harmony of the couples was highest in coping with problem-focused stress with similar choices, followed by emotion-focused with the same choice, and then with different choices, the lowest

    Producing potable water is a fundamental task of infrastructure, primarily executed through potable water liquefaction units. Hence, maintaining these units is crucial to sustain their potable water production and extend their economic lifespan. Additionally, rejuvenating these units parallels comprehensive maintenance at the end of their economic cycle. Therefore, the focal point of this research is the preparation and advancement of a maintenance management system for these units, aligning its significance with the maintenance process and potable water production. This initiative represents the core objective of this research. The study delves into the principles of maintenance management and how to structure a system and its constituents. To provide a clear understanding of the research problem, it proceeds to explore the maintenance of drinking water liquefaction units. This exploration is substantiated by an in-depth analysis of the maintenance reality in water projects, encompassing the methods, frequency, and duration of maintenance activities, as well as administrative aspects tied to maintenance. The goal is to devise a modern, contextually fitting maintenance management system applicable to the water liquefaction units located in various regions around Najaf. Several deficiencies were identified within the existing system, the most significant being inadequate and inconsistent documentation and reporting of maintenance activities, along with the absence of an evaluation system for the maintenance process. This absence leads to an unstructured approach to planning, scheduling, and monitoring, devoid of standardized controls for maintenance performance. The limited budget allocated to unit maintenance inevitably results in the neglect of certain less critical maintenance tasks, amplifying potential issues due to delays in completing essential activities. To address these criticisms and enhance the current maintenance management system, the researcher proposed multiple subsidiary systems that collectively form the primary system. This proposed system comprises five key components: a planning subsystem to optimize the total maintenance cost, a staff allocation subsystem determining the necessary staff numbers and types based on the unit's capacity, a budgeting system calculating the available funds, an evaluation subsystem suggesting criteria for maintenance performance assessment (the cost of producing one cubic meter of water and staff productivity), and a reporting subsystem supporting an improved documentation system. Furthermore, a computer program was recommended to implement the proposed planning system, and the project management program (Microsoft Project) was advocated for leveraging its capabilities, including monitoring and report generation

    This research aims to understand the characteristics of the Tigris River and the possibilities of human use in Baghdad. Samples for this study were collected for analysis from three separate districts in Baghdad, Iraq. Three sites in the upstream, middle, and lower downstream regions of the study area were used to collect river water samples (East Tigris Water Project, Al-Shuhada Bridge Project, and Al-Rasheed Project). To verify that the water is suitable for human needs including drinking water, agriculture, and industry, several tests have been carried out; The study data from the year (2005-2020) PH, Cl, NO3, PO4, SO4, Na, Ec, Ca, K, Mg, TH and TDS are among these tests. And the results of the three projects in the water characteristics of the Baghdad River. The results showed that SO4 was within the allowed in (East Tigris Water Project, and Al-Shuhada Bridge Project) and was higher than allowed in Al-Rasheed Project, while (PH, NO3, PO4, Ca, TH, and K) were all within the allowed range (Project East Tigris Water, Al-Shuhada Bridge Project). According to the World Health Organization, Ec had readings a few above the permissible levels and the TDS was above the permissible limit

    Outcomes of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in patients with thalassemia major: how do anti-HLA antibodies impact?: the impact of anti-HLA antibodies on transplantation outcomes in thalassemia major

    Aim: To investigate the effects of anti-human Leucocyte Antigen (HLA) antibody positivity on early hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) results in patients with thalassemia major (TM). Methods: One hundred and twenty-four HLA-matched HSCTs were performed in patients with TM between 2015 and 2022. Ninety-one patients were screened for anti-HLA antibodies by testing panel reactive antigens (PRA). Demographic and transplantation characteristics of patients were recorded. The presence of PRA was tested with the Antibody Testing Assay (Luminex LIFECODES HLA Antibody Identification System). Results: The number of PRA-positive patients was 54. There was no relationship between acute graft versus host disease (GVHD), chronic GVHD, grade of GVHD, and viral reactivation of the patients. However, platelet engraftment took around 3 days longer in the PRA-positive group (p = 0.05). The median number of erythrocyte transfusions was significantly higher in PRA-positive patients in the post-transplant period (p = 0.003), as was the median number of platelet transfusions (p = 0.003). Treosulfan conditioning increased the stable mixed chimerism (MC) rate by 3.8-fold (p = 0.011). In contrast, reduced rates of MC were found in patients who received matched unrelated donor cells or peripherally derived stem cells (p = 0.011 and p = 0.039, respectively) in the posttransplantation period in TM patients. PRA-positivity did not affect MC (p = 0.478). However, 80% of patients who had primary graft failure (n = 5; p = 0.59) and 75% of patients who died (n = 4) were PRA positive (p = 0.64), but these results were statistically insignificant due to the low number of patients. Conclusion: Anti-HLA antibodies primarily delayed platelet engraftment in TM patients and increased the erythrocyte and thrombocyte transfusion requirements. Although PRA positivity was more common in patients with primary graft failure or who died, there was no statistically significant impact of PRA positivity on chimerism, acute or chronic GVHD, viral activation, or mortality rates

    Araştırma EMDR temeline dayalı tek seanslık Film Tekniği müdahale protokolünün, depreme bağlı gelişen travma sonrası stres belirtilerini düşürmedeki etkililiğini ölçmeyi hedeflemiştir. Araştırma 6 şubat 2023 Kahramanmaraş merkezli depremden 7 ay sonra, Hatay şehrinde 64 kişiyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. 31 kişilik deney grubuna Film Tekniği müdahale protokolü uygulanmış, kontrol grubunda ise 33 kişiye yer verilmiştir. Katılımcıların TSSB düzeyi PCL-5 ölçeği ile ölçülmüş, toplam puanı 47 ve üzerindeki katılımcılar araştırmaya dahil edilmiştir. Müdahale öncesinde, müdahaleden 1 hafta ve 1 ay sonra PCL-5 ölçeği ile TSSB düzeyleri değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda Film Tekniği müdahale protokolünün, depremden sonra ortaya çıkan travma sonrası stres belirtilerini anlamlı düzeyde azalttığı kanıtlanmıştır. Buna göre Film Tekniği müdahale protokolü, depreme bağlı ortaya çıkan travma sonrası stres belirtilerini düşürmede etkili bir yöntem sunmakta, zaman ve maliyet bakımından da tasarruf sağlamaktadır.This research aimed to measure the effectiveness of a single-session Movie Technique intervention protocol based on Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) principles in reducing trauma-related symptoms following the earthquake centered in KahramanmaraĢ on February 6, 2023. The study was conducted 7 months post-earthquake in Hatay with a total of 64 participants. The experimental group, consisting of 31 individuals, underwent the Movie Technique intervention protocol, while the control group comprised 33 individuals. Participants with a total PTSD symptom severity score (PCL-5) of 47 and above were included in the study. PTSD levels were measured using the PCL-5 scale before the intervention, one week after, and one month after the intervention. The results of the study demonstrated that the Movie Technique intervention protocol significantly reduced trauma-related symptoms emerging after the earthquake. The Movie Technique intervention protocol proves to be an effective method in reducing trauma-related symptoms following earthquakes, offering savings in terms of time and cost. This research contributes evidence of the efficacy of the Movie Technique intervention protocol in the literature

Understanding the intricate relationships between variables such as location, property characteristics, economic indicators, and market trends is essential for making informed investment decisions. In this paper, we undertake a comprehensive exploration of machine learning and artificial neural networks (ANNs), establishing a framework to understand how these powerful computational tools can be harnessed to solve complex problems across various domains. The novel part of this study involves a comparative analysis of different optimization algorithms, including AdaGrad, Adam, SGD, and RMSprop, in the context of their application to ANN in real estate price prediction. AdaGrad’s unique approach to handling learning rates dynamically makes it particularly suited for data with varying scales, as demonstrated by our experimental results Comparative training and testing outcomes revealed that AdaGrad consistently outperformed other methods, showcasing lower mean squared error (MSE) and root mean squared error (RMSE), along with higher R2 values, indicating its superior predictive accuracy and efficiency. These findings underline the potential of AdaGrad to optimize real estate predictive models more effectively than traditional methods, marking a significant advancement in the application of machine learning techniques in real estate market analysis

    Debonding sonrası farklı adeziv rezin uzaklaştırma yöntemlerinin diş mine yüzey topografisine etkilerinin in vitro değerlendirilmesi

    AMAÇ: Debonding sonrası mine üzerinde arta kalan adezivlerin, beş farklı frez ile temizlenmesi sonrasında topografide meydana gelen değişikliklerin değerlendirilmesidir. GEREÇ VE YÖNTEM: Ortodontik endikasyonla çekilmiş 45 adet üst premolar diş seçilmiştir. Başlangıç yüzey kayıtlarının (T0) ardından bonding işlemlerini takiben debonding işlemleri ve sonrasında rastgele oluşturulan 5 grupta, Adhesive Residue Remover (ARR) frez, Morelli frezi, düşük ve yüksek devirde yeni jenerasyon beyaz kuşaklı tungsten karbid frez (DHK-YHK) ve Enhance bitim frezi ile adeziv temizliği gerçekleştirilmiştir. Geçen süre kayıt edilmiştir. Optik profilometre, lazer tarama ve her gruptan 4 adet SEM görüntüleri ile nihai yüzey kayıtları (T1) alınmıştır. Grup karşılaştırmalarında Kruskall Wallis testi, takip ölçümlerin karşılaştırılmasında ise Wilcoxon Signed Rank testi kullanılmıştır. BULGULAR: Başlangıç (T0) pürüzlülük ölçümleri anlamlı farklılık göstermemektedir. Morelli grubunun Rq T1 ölçümlerinin, Enhance grubundan yüksek olması anlamlı bulunmuştur (p=0,042; p<0,05). YHK grubunun Rsk T1 ölçümlerinin, ARR grubundan yüksek olması anlamlı bulunmuştur (p=0,031; p<0,05). Enhance grubunun Sv T1 ölçümlerinin, Morelli ve YHK grubundan düşük olması anlamlı bulunmuştur (p=0,035; p<0,05). Morelli grubunun Sq T1 ölçümlerinin, Enhance grubundan yüksek olması anlamlı bulunmuştur (p=0,035; p<0,05). Süre ölçümlerinde, YHK grubunun tüm gruplardan düşük olması anlamlı bulunmuştur (p=0,001; p<0,01). ARR ve DHK grubunda pürüzlülük parametrelerinde T0-T1 arası değişim anlamlı bulunmamıştır. Enhance grubunda Rp, Sa, Sq ölçümlerinde azalış, Ssk, Sku ölçümlerinde artış anlamlı bulunmuştur (p<0,05). Morelli grubunda Rku, Sv, Sq ölçümünde artış anlamlı bulunmuştur (p<0,05). YHK grubunda, Rv, Rku, Sv ve Ssk ölçümlerinde artış anlamlı bulunmuştur (p<0,05). Pürüzlülük parametrelerinin hiçbirinde gruplar arası anlamlı fark (ΔT) bulunmamıştır. Madde kaybı ölçümlerinde gruplar arası anlamlı fark bulunmamıştır (p>0,05). SEM görüntülerine göre, YHK grubunun yüzeyden madde kaldırdığı belirgindir. YHK’yı takiben en kötü yüzey topografisi, Morelli grubundadır. Enhance grubu mine yüzey topografisini yumuşatmış ve hafif çiziklere yol açmıştır. ARR grubunda, Enhance grubundan sığ çizilme paterni tespit edilmiştir. DHK grubunda, örneklerin üçünde hafif ve seyrek çiziklerle yüzeyin pürüzsüzlüğünün ağırlıklı olarak korunduğu tespit edilmiştir. SONUÇ: ARR grubunun en az madde kaybına sebep olan yöntem olması ile çalışmadaki en konservatif materyal olduğu belirlenmiştir. Enhance grubunun topografiyi madde kaldırarak yumuşattığı belirlenmiştir. DHK grubu pürüzlülük ölçümlerine göre, topografide anlamlı değişiklik olmamıştır. YHK grubunun en fazla madde kaybı ile mine dokusunda harabiyete sebep olduğu belirlenmiştir. Morelli grubunda, pürüzlülük ve madde kaybı ölçümlerine göre yüzeyde defekt oluşumu tespit edilmiştir. Kalitatif bulgularımızı SEM görüntüleri desteklemektedir.OBJECTIVE: Evaluation of the changes that occur in enamel topography after adhesive remnant removal with five different burs. MATERIALS AND METHODS: 45 upper premolar teeth were selected. After initial surface recording (T0), bonding, debonding and, in 5 randomly created groups, adhesive remnant removal was performed with Adhesive Residue Remover bur, Morelli bur, Enhance finishing bur and new generation tungsten carbide bur at low and high speed. The elapsed time was recorded. Final recordings (T1) were taken with optical profilometer, laser scanning and 4 SEM images from each group. RESULT: Baseline (T0) roughness measurements did not show significant differences. Rq T1 of Morelli group were significantly higher than Enhance group (p=0.042; p<0.05). Rsk T1 of YSK group were higher than ARR group (p=0.031; p<0.05). Sv T1 of Enhance group were lower than Morelli and YHK groups (p=0.035; p<0.05). Sq T1 of Morelli group were higher than Enhance group (p=0.035; p<0.05). Total mean time was significantly lower in YHK group than all other groups (p=0.001; p<0.01). In ARR and DHK groups, change in roughness parameters (T0-T1) were not significant. In Enhance group, decrease in Rp, Sa, Sq and the increase in Ssk, Sku were significant (p <0.05). In Morelli group, increase in Rku, Sv, Sq were significant (p<0.05). In YHK group increase in Rv, Rku, Sv and Ssk were significant (p<0.05). There was no significant difference (ΔT) between groups for any roughness parameters and enamel loss measurements (p>0.05). In SEM images, it was seen that YHK group caused enamel loss. The worst surface topography following was with Morelli. The Enhance group caused softened the topography. A more shallow scratch pattern was detected in ARR group. In DHK group, the smoothness of the surface was predominantly preserved. CONCLUSION: ARR group is the method that caused the least enamel loss. The Enhance group softened the topography by causing enamel loss. According to roughness values of the DHK group, there was no significant change in topography. YHK group caused the most tissue loss and damage to the enamel. In Morelli group, defect formation was detected. SEM images supported our qualitative findings

    Methylsulfonylmethane induces caspase-dependent apoptosis in acute myeloid leukemia cell lines

    Background: Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a heterogeneous ailment in both biological and clinical concepts. Numerous efforts have been devoted to discover natural compounds for combating cancer, which showed great potential in cancer management. Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), an organosulfur dietary supplement, is utilized for improving various clinical conditions, particularly osteoarthritis. MSM can exert antitumor activity in a wide range of cancers. Objectives: The molecular mechanisms of action underlying antileukemic activity of MSM remain unclear. In this regard, we aimed to investigate the anticancer properties of MSM on human AML cell lines (U937 and HL60) with focus on underlying cell death mechanism. Methods: Anticancer activity of the MSM was examined employing MTT assay, Annexin V-PE/7AAD staining, caspase3/7 activity test, and real-time qPCR. Both cell lines were treated with different concentrations (50-400 mM) of MSM for 24 h. Pretreatment of the cells with a caspase inhibitor (i.e., Z-VAD-fmk) was performed for the assessment of apoptosis induction. Results: The results of MTT assay revealed that in both cell lines, the MSM markedly reduced cell viability in comparison to the control cells. Additionally, findings of Annexin V-7AAD staining revealed that MSM induced apoptosis and activated caspase 3/7 in both cell lines markedly. Real-time quantitative PCR results also supported the induction of apoptosis in AML cells. MSM altered the expression levels of various apoptotic genes (BAX, BAD, and BIM). Conclusion: Overall, our results indicated that MSM could induce apoptosis in AML cell lines in a dose-dependent manner, which therefore could be utilized as an antileukemic agent
