An in vitro assessment of teething gels' effects on human gingival mesenchymal stem cells
Background: The aim of this study is to examine the cytotoxic effects of dental gels with different contents, which are frequently used during teething, on gingival mesenchymal stem cells (G-MSCs).
Method: The teething gels used in this study were Dentinox, Gengigel, Osanite, and Jack and Jill. The human gingival mesenchimal stem cells (hG-MSCs) were incubated with these teething gel solutions (0.1%, 50% and 80% concentrations). Reproductive behavior of G-MSCs was monitored in real time for 72 h using the xCELLigence real-time cell analyzer (RTCA) system. Two-way repeated Anova test and post hoc Bonferroni test were used to evaluate the effect of concentration and dental gel on 0-hour and 72-hour viability. Significance was evaluated at p < 0.05 level.
Results: Teething gels prepared at 50% concentration are added to the G-MSC culture, the "cell index" value of G-MSCs to which Dentinox brand gel is added is significantly lower than all other groups (p = 0.05). There is a statistically significant difference between the concentrations in terms of cell index values at the 72nd hour compared to the 0th hour (p = 0.001).
Conclusions: The local anesthetic dental gels used in children have a more negative effect on cell viability as concentration increases
A fuzzy logic-based quality model for identifying microservices with low maintainability
Microservice Architecture (MSA) is a popular architectural style that offers many advantages regarding quality attributes, including maintainability and scalability. Developing a system as a set of microservices with expected benefits requires a quality assessment strategy that is established on the measurements of the system's properties. This paper proposes a hierarchical quality model based on fuzzy logic to measure and evaluate the maintainability of MSAs considering ISO/IEC 250xy SQuaRE (System and Software Quality Requirements and Evaluation) standards. Since the qualitative bounds of low-level quality attributes are inherently ambiguous, we use a fuzzification technique to transform crisp values of code metrics into fuzzy levels and apply them as inputs to our quality model. The model generates fuzzy values for the quality sub-characteristics of the maintainability, i.e., modifiability and testability, converted to numerical values through defuzzification. In the last step, using the values of the sub-characteristics, we calculate numerical scores indicating the maintainability level of each microservice in the examined software system. This score was used to assess the quality of the microservices and decide whether they need refactoring. We evaluated our approach by creating a test set with the assistance of three developers, who reviewed and categorized the maintainability levels of the microservices in an open-source project based on their knowledge and experience. They labeled microservices as low, medium, or high, with low indicating the need for refactoring. Our method for identifying low-labeled microservices in the given test set achieved 94% accuracy, 78% precision, and 100% recall. These results indicate that our approach can assist designers in evaluating the maintainability quality of microservices
A hybrid approach for the multi-criteria-based optimization of sequence-dependent setup-based flow shop scheduling
A key challenge in production management and operational research is the flow shop scheduling problem, characterized by its complexity in manufacturing processes. Traditional models often assume deterministic conditions, overlooking real-world uncertainties like fluctuating demand, variable processing times, and equipment failures, significantly impacting productivity and efficiency. The increasing demand for more adaptive and robust scheduling frameworks that can handle these uncertainties effectively drives the need for research in this area. Existing methods do not adequately capture modern manufacturing environments’ dynamic and unpredictable nature, resulting in inefficiencies and higher operational costs; they do not employ a fuzzy approach to benefit from human intuition. This study successfully demonstrates the application of Hexagonal Type-2 Fuzzy Sets (HT2FS) for the accurate modeling of the importance of jobs, thereby advancing fuzzy logic applications in scheduling problems. Additionally, it employs a novel Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) approach employing Proportional Picture Fuzzy AHP (PPF-AHP) for group decision-making in a flow shop scheduling context. The research outlines the methodology involving three stages: group weight assessment through a PPF-AHP for the objectives, weight determination using HT2FS for the jobs, and optimization via Genetic Algorithm (GA), a method that gave us the optimal solution. This study contributes significantly to operational research and production scheduling by proposing a sophisticated, hybrid model that adeptly navigates the complexities of flow shop scheduling. The integration of HT2FS and MCDM techniques, particularly PPF-AHP, offers a novel approach that enhances decision-making accuracy and paves the way for future advancements in manufacturing optimization
Federated learning for privacy-preserving intrusion detection in IoT networks
The expansion of IoT networks, ensuring robust intrusion detection while safeguarding user privacy is a significant challenge. Previous techniques have struggled to reconcile accuracy and privacy. In this research, we offer a unique approach employing federated learning for intrusion detection in IoT contexts. Our technique leverages the Federated Averaging (FedAvg) algorithm. by allowing IoT devices to cooperatively train a global model. To evaluate our technique, we employ the CICIDS 2017 dataset. It simulates realistic network traffic scenarios. Our data demonstrate a remarkable accuracy of 95.2%. It demonstrates the efficiency of federated learning in increasing intrusion detection capabilities. Our investigation reveals encouraging results. Future work intends to solve restrictions, such as broadening the scope to accommodate varied assault situations. Our research illustrates the transformational potential of federated learning in increasing cybersecurity in IoT networks while maintaining user privacy
Application of Efficient Mobile Robot Navigation through Machine Learning Technique

To steer robots to the unexplored portions of their surroundings that will give the most new information to an occupancy map, information-theoretic exploration methods were created. In the interim, concurrent confinement and planning (hammer) is a technique for surveying map exactness and overseeing restriction mistakes when there is loud relative information. Thus, Hammer-based investigation, or dynamic Hammer, has been effectively used to independently plan an obscure climate while managing robot milestones and stance equivocality. Be that as it may, the dynamic part of dynamic Hammer investigation methods is tedious because of the prerequisite for forward reproduction of future robot estimations and the expectation of the resulting guide and stance vulnerability. Due to the high time complexity of such methods, this strategy will eventually fail for real-time decision-making with the rising dimensionality of the state space and the action space. In this proposed work, we introduce learning-based exploration algorithms to provide reduced computation time and near-optimal exploration techniques under uncertainty. First, we offer a method for solving autonomous mobile robot exploration problems using a robot's local map and deep reinforcement learning (DRL) without taking localization uncertainty into account. During the online testing phase, the DRL controller provides robot sensing actions that are almost as informative and efficient as those of a normal mutual information-maximizing controller while requiring significantly less computational work. © 2024 American Institute of Physics Inc.. Psikolojik dayanıklılık ve kültürleşme stresi ile üniversite uyumu arasındaki ilişki: Türkiye ve İsrail'de eğitim alan Filistinli öğrenciler
Bu tez, Türkiye ve İsrail'deki üniversitelerde eğitim gören Filistinli öğrencilerin adaptasyon
süreçlerini detaylı bir şekilde incelenmekte ve psikolojik dayanıklılık ile kültürleşme
stresinin öğrencilerin üniversite yaşamına entegrasyonları üzerindeki etkilerine
odaklanmaktadır. Araştırma, her iki ülkede farklı kültür ve eğitim bağlamlarında bu
öğrencilerin karşılaştıkları zorlukları derinlemesine anlamak amacıyla karşılaştırmalı bir
analiz sunmaktadır. Araştırmada, Connor-Davidson Dayanıklılık Ölçeği (CD-RISC), Sosyal
Tutumsal, Ailesel ve Çevresel Kültürleşme Stres Ölçeği (SAFE) ve Üniversiteye Uyum
Anketi (SACQ) kullanılarak toplanan nicel verileri içermekte olup, Türkiye ve İsrail’de
eğitim gören toplam 193 Filistinli öğrenci katılımcı olarak yer almıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlar,
Türkiye’deki öğrencilerin akademik ve kurumsal bağlanma süreçlerine daha rahat uyum
sağladığını, İsrail'dekilerin ise karmaşık sosyo-politik koşullar ve kültürel farklılıklar
nedeniyle daha büyük zorluklarla ve yüksek kültürleşme stresiyle karşılaştığını ortaya
koymaktadır. Buna karşın, İsrail'deki öğrenciler kişisel-duygusal uyum açısından daha
başarılı bulunmuştur. Bu bulgular, eğitim kurumlarının uluslararası öğrencilerin başarılı
entegrasyonunu desteklemekteki hayati rolünü vurgulamakta, psikolojik dayanıklılığı
artıracak destekleyici tedbirler ve kültürel hassasiyeti yüksek ortamlar oluşturarak çeşitli
uluslararası azınlık öğrencilerinin eğitim ve sosyal deneyimlerini iyileştirme gerekliliğine
işaret etmektedir.This thesis provides a detailed analysis of the adaptation processes of Palestinian students
studying at universities in Turkey and Israel, focusing on the impacts of psychological
resilience and acculturation stress on their integration into university life. The research offers
a comparative analysis to deeply understand the challenges these students face in different
cultural and educational contexts in both countries. The study incorporates quantitative data
collected using the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), the Social Attitudes,
Family and Environment Scale (SAFE), and the Student Adaptation to College
Questionnaire (SACQ), with a total of 193 Palestinian students participating from Turkey
and Israel. The results reveal that students in Turkey experienced smoother academic and
institutional integration processes, while those in Israel faced greater challenges and higher
acculturation stress due to complex socio-political conditions and cultural differences.
However, it is noted that students in Israel displayed higher levels of personal and emotional
adjustment. These findings highlight the critical role of educational institutions in supporting
the successful integration of international students, pointing to the need for supportive
measures to enhance psychological resilience and the creation of culturally sensitive
environments to improve the educational and social experiences of minority students in
various international contexts

The impact of perceived brand globalness on credibility and purchase intention
This work explores the impact of brand globalness in shaping the purchase intention of the
brands among Iraqi consumers. Moreover, this study also look how brand credibility
mediates the association between brand globalness and purchase intention. The independent
variable of the study is brand globalness and the study's dependent variable is purchase
intention, while brand credibility is used as the mediator. The questionnaire was used as a
data-gathering tool, and 405 people participated. The PLS-SEM is used as statistical
software. The result displays that brand globalness influences the credibility of the brands
positively and significantly. Moreover, brand credibility influences the purchase intention
positively and significantly. In addition, the study also confirms that credibility mediates the
globalness and purchase intention nexus. The study discusses practical implications for
brand managers.Bu çalışma, Iraklı tüketiciler arasında markaların satın alma niyetini şekillendirmede marka
küreselliğinin etkisini araştırmaktadır. Ayrıca bu çalışma aynı zamanda marka
güvenilirliğinin, marka küreselliği ile satın alma niyeti arasındaki ilişkiye nasıl aracılık
ettiğini de incelemektedir. Araştırmanın bağımsız değişkeni marka küreselliği, bağımlı
değişkeni ise satın alma niyeti olup, marka güvenilirliği aracı olarak kullanılmıştır. Anket
veri toplama aracı olarak kullanılmış ve 405 kişi katılmıştır. SMART PLS istatistiksel
yazılımı analizler için kullanılmıştır. Sonuç olarak, marka küreselliğinin markaların
güvenilirliğini olumlu ve anlamlı bir şekilde etkilediği tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca marka
güvenilirliği satın alma niyetini olumlu ve anlamlı bir şekilde etkilemektedir. Bunun yanı
sıra bu çalışma, güvenilirliğin küresellik ve satın alma niyeti bağlantısına aracılık ettiğini de
doğrulamaktadır. Çalışma, marka yöneticileri için uygulamaya yönelik çıkarımları
tartışmaktadır
Reduction the Thermal Effect of Battery by Using Liquid Cooling Techniques

Lithium-ion batteries exhibit their highest performance within a temperature range of 16 to 25°C, while maintaining functionality within a broader range of 0 to 35°C. The article focuses on investigating different cooling methods, including liquid jackets, cold plates, microchannel cooling plates, serpentine channel cooling plates, and coolant immersion, to regulate the temperature of lithium-ion battery packs. The effectiveness of the thermal management system in maintaining the battery temperature within the specified operating range is thoroughly examined through experimental and simulation results. The findings reveal that these cooling techniques successfully control the temperature under various discharge loads. The recorded maximum temperature (Tmax) is 33.82°C, with a delta Tmax (ΔTmax) of 3.18°C at an ambient temperature of 26.5°C. Maintaining an appropriate temperature range is vital for optimizing the performance of lithium-ion batteries in EVs. The results provide valuable insights and pave the way for future research to enhance the thermal management system for lithium-ion battery packs in EVs. This article highlights the significance of maintaining the temperature range of lithium-ion batteries in EVs to ensure optimal performance. The explored techniques and methods present potential avenues for achieving this objective, and the findings serve as a reference for future studies aimed at improving the thermal management system for lithium-ion battery packs in EVs. © 2024 American Institute of Physics Inc.. Endemik Thymus brachychilus Jalas’ın kimyasal bileşimi ve insan meme adenokarsinomu (MCF-7, HTB-22), insan akciğer adenokarsinomu (A549, CRM-CCL-185), insan glioblastoma hücrelerine (U-118 MG, HTB-15) in vitro sitotoksisitesi
Objective: Thymus have 341 species in the world and 46 species in Turkiye, 19 of them are endemic. Thymus species are used for stomachache, cold, shortness of breath, cough, bronchitis, diabetes in Aladalar (Nide). In this study, essential oil (EO) analysis of Thymus brachychilus, liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) analysis of ethanol extract, and its effects on the cell lines mentioned in the title were investigated for the first time.
Methods: The endemic Thymus brachychilus Jalas was collected from Aladalar Mountains, from 3,290 meters. Voucher specimens were prepared after the plant species were identified and kept at the herbarium (HERA 1029). 100 g of dried and powdered aerial part of the plant material was distilled for three hours, yielding 0.42 mL of volatile oil using a Clevenger-style apparatus. The 3.28 g ethanol extract was obtained from 100 g plant. An Agilent GC-FID/MS system was used to analyze EO samples. Phenolic compounds of the extract were analyzed using LC-HRMS. MTT assay was used to evaluate the cytotoxicity of EO and ethanol extract.
Results: Thymol (48.11%), p-cymene (12.92%), carvacrol (11.14%) were the major components of the EO. For the extract, the IC50 values were calculated to be between 1.64-15.76 mu g/mL, while the values of IC50 were calculated between 68.94-101.2 mu g/ mL for the essential oil.
Conclusion: Both the ethanol extract and the EO caused cell death in the tested cell lines. However, the extract appeared to be more effective compared to the essential oil. Besides that, a difference between the cell types could be seen, where the U118 MG neuronal cells appeared to be the most sensitive cell line.Amaç: Thymus’un dünyada 341, Türkiye’de 46 türü bulunmakta

türleri mide ağrısı, soğuk algınlığı, nefes darlığı, öksürük, bronşit,
şeker hastalığında kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışma ile, Thymus
brachychilus’un uçucu yağ analizi, etanol ekstraktının (EE) LC/MS
analizi ve bu hücre hatları üzerindeki etkileri ilk kez araştırıldı.
Yöntemler: Aladağlar’ın 3.290 metre yüksekliğinden toplanan
endemik Thymus brachychilus Jalas’ın tür tayini yapıldıktan sonra
ve herbaryum örneği haline getirilip, herbaryum numarası verilerek
(HERA 1029) saklanmaktadır. 100 g kurutulmuş ve toz haline
getirilmiş toprak üstü kısımlardan oluşan bitki materyali, Clevenger
aparatı kullanılarak 3 saat süreyle distile edildi ve 0,42 mL uçucu yağ
elde edildi. Yüz g bitkiden 3,28 g etanol ekstresi elde edildi. Uçucu
yağ numunelerini analiz etmek için bir Agilent GC-FID/MS sistemi kullanıldı. Ekstrenin fenolik bileşikleri, LC-HRMS kullanılarak
analiz edildi. Uçucu yağ ve etanol ekstrelerinin sitotoksisitesini
değerlendirmek için MTT testi kullanıldı.
Bulgular: Thymol (%48,11), p-cymene (%12,92), carvacrol
(%11,14) uçucu yağın ana bileşenleriydi. Ekstre için IC50 değerleri
1,64-15,76 µg/mL arasında hesaplandı. Uçucu yağ için ise IC50
değerleri 68,94-101,2 µg/mL arasında hesaplandı.
Sonuç: Hem EE, hem de uçucu yağ test edilen hücre hatlarında
hücre ölümüne neden oldu. Bununla birlikte, ekstrenin uçucu yağa
kıyasla daha etkili olduğu görüldü. Bunun yanı sıra, hücre tipleri
arasında da bir fark görüldü, U118 MG nöronal hücreleri en hassas
hücre hattı olarak tespit edildi
