of (2.13), it was obvious from the above results that the treatment of (NPK 100%
(RDF)/ha + Organic Manure 15 t/ha + Biochar 10 t/ha) was more profitable than rest
of treatments

during the period from September-2020 to February-2021, to study the yield and quality
of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) as influenced by fertilizer and irrigation frequency. The
experiment consisted of two factors, and followed split plot design with three

EFFICACY OF COMMONLY USED ANTHELMINTICS AND THEIR EFFECT ON BODY WEIGHT OF INDIGENOUS CATTLE AT JHIKARGACHA, JASHORE

Semester: January - June, 2021A coprological investigation was carried out to detect some variable wise prevalence
of gastro- intestinal (GI) nematode infection in indigenous cattle and to know the
efficacy of some commonly used anthelmintics on them. The faecal samples were
collected from 112 indigenous cattle from Jhikargacha Upazilla of Jashore district
with a random sampling. The study was conducted February 2020 to January 2021.
Faecal sample examination of all the selected cattle showed that 29.44% (33) animals
were affected with single type of GI nematode. Among them, Toxocara vitulorum is
highly prevelant with a prevalence of 9.82%. Other species, namely Trichuris
trichiura, Bunostomum phlebotomum, Haemonchus contortus and Strongyloides papillosus
are also found significantly. Mixed infections were observed in 8.03% cattle where
two or more species of nematodes are noticed. The prevalence of gastro-intestinal
helminths was significantly higher in young cattle (50%) than adult (22.5%) cattle.
About 33.33% male and 26.86% female cattle were infected with at least one type of
gastro-intestinal nematode infestation. Both mixed and single infection was
significantly higher in male cattle than those of female cattle. During summer
season, prevalence is found higher (35.71%) than winter (20.51%) and rainy season
(32.26%). Extensive rearing system is identified as more prevalent (34.78%) in
gastro-intestnal nematodiasis than intensive (25.0%) and semi-intensive rearing
system (26.31%). Cachectic animals having body condition score 1, are highly
prevalent (33.33%) than others. The efficacy of Pipervet® and Almex® against
Ascaris infection of were found 100% and 80% respectively whereas Levavet® and
LTvet® were found 100% and 90.91% effective against single type of infection with
Trichuris trichiura, Bunostomum phlebotomum, Haemonchus contortus and Strongyloides
papillosus. The efficacy of Levavet® and LTvet® against mixed infection were 100%
and 83.3% respectively . Using Pipervet®, Almex®, LTvet® and Levavet® body
weight was gained after 1 month 8.88%, 10.41%, 6.57%, 6.17% respectively. These
differences were not statistically significant
PROFITABILITY ANALYSIS OF DATE PALM MOLASSES COMMERCIALIZATION IN SELECTED PLACES OF JASHORE, BANGLADESH

AGRICULTUTAL STATISTICSThe objectives of this paper were to explore socio-economic profile and measure
profitability analysis of date palm molasses producing households. Primary data
collection was carried out at three upazila of Jashore district along with fifteen key
queries. This research was based on field data purveyed from 75 households
following purposive sampling technique. Cobb-Douglas production function was
applied to determine the effects of premediated cost factors on molasses
commercialization. Tapping tree contract, earthen sap pot, labor wage, firewood and
marketing cost factors had significant impact on molasses turnover. Large scale
production (BCR 2.21) was explored more profitable than marginal scale (BCR
1.88). The average market prices were attained BDT 232.93/kg (large scale) and
BDT 219.90/kg (marginal scale). Almost 98% respondents privileged with nutritious
food intake and had over 80% significant impact on livelihood and societal security.
Finally, some perplexities were distinguished including adultrated molasses presence
in market, lack of efficient artisans, theft plausibility and quality date palm saps
shortage along with compatible suggestions to reincarnate such signature
PROFITABILITY AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT OF PABDA FISH PRODUCTION IN MYMENSINGH DISTRICT OF BANGLADESH

AGRIBUSINESS AND MARKETINGIn Bangladesh, the fish farming sector has the potential to achieve self-sufficiency in
the food sector and to reduce poverty. It is necessary to increase fish production and
more participation of women eventually increases fish production. The main objective
of the present study was profitability and women empowerment of Pabda fish
production in Bangladesh. Data were collected from 100 Pabda fish farmers in two
villages namely, Koltapara and Ramgopalpur villages of Gouripur Upazilla under
Mymensingh district where an adequate amount of Pabda farms were available. Data
were collected by using a pre-tested interview schedule. The study found that gross
return was Tk 2265088.73/hectare, net return Tk 988425.11 /hectare, gross margin was
Tk 1110491.20 /hectare. BCR based on variable cost was 1.96, and BCR based on total
cost was 1.77 which indicated that Pabda fish production was profitable in the study
area. The study found that fingerling cost, salt and lime cost, feed cost, medicine cost,
and water pumping cost had a significant impact on Pabda fish production. Production
efficiency of Pabda fish was 96 percent. The study found that farmers wives involved
in different agricultural activities including Pabda fish production. Women in Pabda
fish farming still need to be empowered more and trained to enhance their capabilities
and involved in Pabda fish system production. In this study number of problems were
also identified which were classified as technical problems, economic problems, and
social problems during Pabda fish farming. Some policy recommendations were also
given at the end of the study which will be helpful to the Pabda fish
MARKETING SYSTEM OF EGG IN SOME SELECTED AREAS OF TANGAIL DISTRICT

AGRIBUSINESS AND MARKETINGThe present study was conducted to estimate the profitability of egg production and marketing
in Tangail district of Bangladesh. Three villages from Gopalpur Upazila and two villages from
Ghatail Upazila were selected for this study. In total, 52 egg producers were selected
purposively for the study. Out of 52 samples, 32 were from Gopalpur Upazila and 20 were
from Ghatail Upazila. Primary data were collected during March to June, 2022 through field
visits. The required data were collected through structured interview schedule from the 52 egg
producers. The secondary information sources were DLS reports, BLRI reports, Bangladesh
economic review, BBS, different journals, newspaper, relevant websites etc. Descriptive
statistics and Profit equation were used to address the main objectives of the study. The results
of the study showed that, per 100 layers, average total cost for egg production was Tk.
1,98,966.98. Per 100 layers gross return from egg production was estimated Tk. 2,85,165.8 and
per 100 layers average net return of egg production was Tk. 86198.82. The study considered
land use cost, housing cost, equipment cost, feed cost, day old chick cost, transportation cost,
maintenance cost, veterinary cost, electricity cost and miscellaneous cost. The study identified
the exiting marketing channels in the study area. The study also identified that egg producers
were facing some problems such as: price of poultry feed and feed materials, high price of
veterinary drugs, lack of government support, lack of information in layer farming system etc.
If these problems could be solved within the shortest possible time, all the egg producers could
be able to earn a much higher profit than the existing level. On the basis of findings, some
recommendations were made for the development of egg production and marketing in

(Amaranthus lividus) under moringa (Moringa oliefera) based Agroforestry system during the

assessing the results of this experiment and showed significant variation in respect of growth and
yield of amaranth due to the effect of different treatments. In M. oleifera and A. lividus based
agroforestry system, M. oleifera suppressed crop growth and productivity of A. lividus at closer
distance from the tree row. Increasing distance from the M. oleifera trees gradually increasing the
growth and yield characteristics of stem amaranth. Among different M. oleifera and A. lividus
interactions, the highest yield (26.30 t ha
-1
) of A. lividus was obtained in T
5
(125 cm distance from
the tree base) treatment comparable to others treatments. The crop (A. lividus) growth and yield
decreased under M. oleifera tree but due to the presence of M. oleifera tree economical returns
obtained from M. oleifera and A. lividus based agroforestry system was higher than sole cropping.
In moringa amaranth interaction, the highest gross return (613700 Tk), net return (548034 Tk) and
benefit cost ratio (9.35) were observed in T
