NFLUENCE OF CLYBIO AS BIOSTIMULANT ON THE GROWTH AND PRODUCTIVITY OF SUMMER ONION (Allium cepa)

DEPARTMENT OF HORTICULTUREA field experiment was conducted at the Horticulture Farm of Sher-e-Bangla
Agricultural University, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, from June 2021 until October
2021 to evaluate the influence of Clybio (biostimulant) concentrations on the growth
and productivity of summer onions (Allium cepa). The variety used was BARI Piaz-3.
The single factorial experiments were laid out in a Randomized Complete Block
Design (RCBD) with three replications. The experiment consisted of four treatments,
namely, T
0
= control (no Clybio application), T
1
= Clybio @ 2 ml/L, T
2
= Clybio @ 4
ml/L and T
3
= Clybio @ 6 ml/L, and in total, this was applied six times, starting from
10 DAT until 60 DAT and were applied in a foliar manner to both leaves and
surrounding soil. Among the treatments, the maximum plant height (60.8cm), the
number of leaves per plant (16.7), leaf length (54.2cm), leaf weight (31.3g), diameter
of pseudostem (11.9mm), root length (8.4cm), number of roots (33.0), bulb diameter
(43.8mm), bulb length (52.7mm), weight of a single bulb (45.7g), average bulb yield
per plot (33.2 t/ha) was recorded at T
3
treatment. The highest length of pseudostem
(49.4 mm) was found in the T
1
treatment. On the contrary, the minimum plant height
(38.3cm), number of leaves per plant (7.0), leaf length (24.1cm), leaf weight (17.7g),
root length (4.5cm), number of roots (26), bulb diameter (22.7mm), bulb length
(42.0mm), weight of a single bulb (22.0g), average bulb yield per plot (16.0 t/ha) was
observed at T
0
(control) treatment. The lowest diameter of the pseudostem was found
at the T
1
(7.5mm). No statistically significant variation was found in the length of the
pseudostem (mm) in response to different treatments. When compared to control (T
0
),
the highest increase in yield percentage was observed at T
3
treatment (107.5%) . A
highly significant, very strong (R
2
= 0.99) and positive correlation was discovered
between bulb weight and root length, indicating that bulb weight increased as root
length increased. Considering the aforementioned findings, T

(Clybio @ 6 ml/L)
treatment delivered the best results in terms of growth and yield attributes of summer
onions

on aphid was conducted at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University central farm and the
laboratory of the Department of Entomology, SAU during November 2020 to April
2021. Two experiments were conducted to explore the host plant preference of aphid
and the predator efficiency of ladybird beetle. They were laid out in Randomized
Complete Block Design (RCBD) for field condition and Complete Randomized Design
(CRD) for laboratory condition with 3 replications. There are six different crops as
treatment-wheat, brinjal, tomato, potato, country bean and mustard. The highest number

DEVELOPMENT AND POVERTY STUDIESThe present study was designed to assess the profitability and factor affecting of potato
cultivation in different land tenure systems of some selected areas of Munshiganj district
in Bangladesh. Farmers were randomly selected for data collection purposes. The selected
upazilas were Munshiganj Sadar under the Munshiganj district. Descriptive statistics and
Cobb-Douglas production function were used to achieve the objective of the study. The
major findings of the study revealed that potato production was profitable for the year
2022. Per hectare, the average yield for owner farmers (Tenure-1) was 31559.38 kg and
for rented in farmers (Tenure-2) was 31931.82 kg. Overall expenses of potato production
have been Tk. 2,42265.3 in Tenure-1 and Tk. 250553.8 in Tenure 2. Per hectare net returns
of potato production were Tk. 168006.7 in Tenure 1 and Tk. 100696.2 in Tenure 2.
Undiscounted (BCR) of potato production consistent with hectare came out to 1.69 in
Tenure 1 and 1.40 in Tenure 2. The results of the Cobb-Douglas production function
indicated that the gross return of the potato production was highly influenced by human
labor, seed, irrigation, manure, fertilizer, insecticide, etc. The coefficient of more than one
determination, Adj. 2 became 0.1252 and 0.1213 for tenure 1 and tenure 2 in the case of
the potato production feature. The F- value (2.455) and (2.288) for tenure 1 and tenure 2
shows nicely match of the model. The problems faced by potato farmers were the high
price of potato tuber, wages of labor, cost of storage, and problems of getting enough cash
for potato cultivation, etc. So efficient policy for pricing, effective production
management, and lower input price was required for the highest net return of potato
cultivation. For these Bangladesh government should play a vital role in the effective
management of potatoes
GROWTH, YIELD AND QUALITY PERFORMANCE OF SUMMER TOMATO ON DIFFERENT GROWING MEDIA IN SOILLESS CULTURE

physicochemical attributes of various combinations of growing media, as well as the
growth, production, and physiological qualities of different varieties of summer tomato.

PLANT PATHOLOGYMungbean (Vigna radiata L.) is an excellent and easily digestible dietary source of plant
protein. Mungbean yellow mosaic disease caused by Mungbean yellow mosaic virus
(MYMV) which is transmitted by whitefly (Bemisia tabaci), an important constraint of
mungbean cultivation. A field experiment was conducted at the central farm of Sher-eBangla
Agricultural
University
(SAU),
Dhaka
during
March
to
June,
2021.
The
prime
aim
of
the
study
was
to
manage
the
Mungbean
yellow
mosaic
virus
(MYMV)
by
controlling
the
insect
vectors using barrier crops (sesame, linseed, maize, coriander) and colored plastic
mulches (red, blue, silvery-grey, black). BINA released variety BINAmoog-5 was used as a
planting material in the experiment. Morphological and physiological parameters were all
considerably impacted in this study. Disease incidence and percent disease index of MYMV
was significantly varied among the treatments. The lowest disease incidence (5.35%, 8.95%,
17.91% per plot and 5.24%, 11.75%, 19.09% per plant at 30, 45 and 60 DAS, respectively)
was estimated when maize was used as a barrier crop while the highest disease incidence
(25.92%, 35.52%, 61.10% per plot and 27.66%, 34.15%, 59.72% per plant at 30, 45 and 60
DAS, respectively) was found in control treatment. In case of colored plastic mulches, the
lowest disease incidence (8.56%, 14.35%, 23.91% per plot and 8.23%, 15.76% 24.70% per
plant at 30, 45 and 60 DAS, respectively) was recorded when silvery-grey colored plastic
mulch was used. The lowest percent disease index (5.55%, 13.39% and 20.16% at 30, 45
and 60 DAS, respectively) was also found when maize was used as a barrier crop. In case of
colored plastic mulches the lowest percent disease index (7.42%, 17.97% and 26.70% at 30,
45 and 60 DAS, respectively) was computed when silvery-grey colored plastic mulch was
used. Again, the highest percent disease index (28.14%, 37.71% and 64.08% at 30, 45 and
60 DAS, respectively) was found in control treatment. The highest chlorophyll content,
number of flower, pod and yield was measured and counted when maize was used as a barrier
crop and silvery- grey colored mulch was used as a colored plastic mulch. However, maize
or silvery-grey colored plastic mulch uniquely or combindly can be used to control whitefly
(vector) for the management of MYMV
Effects of Papaya Leaf (Carica papaya) and Black Cumin (Nigella sativa) as an Alternative to Antibiotics on Production Index and Hematological Indicators of Broiler Chicken
ABSTRACT
The purpose of the study was to determine the effectiveness of dietary supplements of papaya leaf meal
(Carica papaya) and black cumin (Nigella sativa) seeds on the production index and hematological status
of commercial broiler chicken. T1 (Control), T2 (antibiotic), T3 (2% PLM: Papaya Leaf Meal), T4 (1%
BCS: Black Cumin Seed) and T5 (1% of each PLM & BCS) were the five treatment groups that the 150day-old
Cobb
500
straight
run
chicks
were
randomly
assigned.
Ten
chicks
were
used
in
each
of
the
three
replications
of
each
treatment.
The
findings
demonstrated
that
feeding
broilers
supplements
of
PLM
and
BCS
did not significantly (p>0.05) affect feed consumption (FC) (g), final live weight (g) and feed
conversion ratio (FCR) when compared to the control and antibiotic group. FC was found to be
numerically (p>0.05) higher in the control group than in the other groups. However, the T3 group of
birds given 2% PLM had superior ultimate live weight and an improved FCR value compared to
antibiotic, control, and the values of the other groups, which were statistically insignificant (p>0.05).
The relative weight of the spleen in various groups was unaffected (p>0.05) by dietary supplementation
with PLM and BCS. But the T3 (2% PLM) group had significantly (p<0.05) increased bursa weight (g).
The concentrations of glucose and cholesterol were similar across all groups (p>0.05), while the group
receiving 2% PLM supplements had relatively lower cholesterol levels (mg/dl). Moreover, the
supplemented groups with PLM and BCS revealed a significant (p<0.05) increase in the hematological
parameters red blood cell (RBC), white blood cell (WBC), lymphocyte, and packed cell volume (PCV)
as compared to the antibiotic and control groups. The final live weight, FCR, immune organ weight, and
blood indices were all improved in birds fed a meal supplemented with 2% PLM, leading to superior
results

health has become a major public concern in many countries including Bangladesh. A pot
experiment was conducted with four different levels of arsenic at Agroforestry and Environmental

soil. Different data on growth and yield attributes were collected and analyzed
statistically. It was observed that T

(no arsenic) treatment exposed the best results in terms of
plant height, stem diameter (cm), number of leaves, leaf length (cm), leaf breadth (cm), length
and weight of shoot and root, number of flowers and fruits, fruit length, fruit diameter and fruit
weight of brinjal plant compared to other treatments. The maximum fruits (3.75) were observed
in treatment T
1
(no arsenic in the soil) at 80 DAT which was significantly different from the
others. Hence, from this study, it might be concluded that cultivation of brinjal plant was sensitive
to arsenic stress and yield loss occurred with higher concentrations of arsenic. The treatment T

EFFECTS OF SALINITY ON GROWTH, YIELD AND NUTRIENTS CONTENT OF CAPSICUM (Capsicum annuum L.)

BU soybean 2; BARI Soybean-5 and BARI Soybean-6. There were four fertilizer
