    Islamic State and Jeopardy of Totalitarianism Portrayed in Animal Farm & Nineteen- Eighty-Four

    George Orwell in his Animal Farm and Nineteen Eighty-Four rereads the jeopardy of totalitarianism in a pessimistic way. The totalitarian world in these novels creates a society of deprivation, oppression, terror, where everyone is in fear of punishment. In Animal Farm, George Orwell upholds how totalitarianism is exercised on society step by step and has created a controlled society. Everyone knows the truth but dare not expose it. In Nineteen Eighty-Four, the gentle practice of totalitarianism in Animal farm has turned into a frighteningly serious physical horrors and mental tortures of people that show the power of the totalitarian party. But, Islamic state propounds peaceful personal life, absolute truth and harmonious atmosphere based on equality and universal brotherhood, for the omniscient and omnipotence of Allah is recognized and the example of Hazrat Mohammod (SAAS) is exercised in this state. This paper explores how the personal life, mental tranquility, optimistic expectation are pulverized under the all powerful hand of the totalitarian government, above all, the pessimistic and the serious jeopardy it poses to society in Orwell‟s Animal Farm and Nineteen Eighty-Four and how Islamic state is a melting place of the jeopardy of totalitarianism offering a serene and pacific shelter of all human beings

    Surah al-Hujurat: A Charter of Ideal Social Life

    The main purpose of the research is to study surah al-Hujurat of the Qur’an, which includes some fundamental principles and important rules and regulations for laying the foundations of an ideal society, which if followed properly; the society could live in peaceful harmony and mutual respect and love towards each other. Sayyid Abul A`la Mawdudi (1903-1979) and Sayyid Qutb (1906-1966) wonderfully explained those social etiquettes, norms and principles through their commentaries of the Qur’an. Both Tafsirs merged at some crucial points, and also differed at others. Since they lived in the contemporary ages, their Tafsirs have high impacts on the society and people today. They continue to influence society to a larger extent. The paper presents an introduction to Sayyid Mawdudi and Sayyid Qutb, their Tafasir and surah alHujurat, fundamental guidelines and principles for ideal social system based on their tafasir while drawing the similarities and differences between both the scholars. The paper concludes that the surah al-Hujurat contains important principles of Islam for a noble societal living, which if followed, the society turns into an ideal community, where all people live in perfect harmony, peace, mutual respect and love

    ইসলামি জীবনবিধান নারী পুরুষ উভয়ের জন্য। কুরআন সুন্নাহে নারী নেতৃত্ব বৈধ বা অবৈধহওয়া বিষয়ে সরাসরি বা স্পষ্ট নির্দেশ নেই। তবে রাজনৈতিক ও সামাজিক কাজে তারা অংশ নিবে এ বিষয়েস্পষ্ট নির্দেশ রয়েছে। মহানবি সা. কোনো নারীকে কোনো অঞ্চলের শাসনকর্তা নিয়োগ দেননি। তবেপারিবারিক ক্ষেত্রে পুরুষের কর্তৃত্ব সম্পর্কিত একটি আয়াত ও পারস্য সা¤্রাজ্যে এক নারীর সা¤্রাজ্ঞী হওয়ারপ্রেক্ষাপটে মহানবি সা.-এর এক মন্তব্য সম্বলিত একটি বর্ণিত হাদিসের ভিত্তিতে আলিমগণ প্রচুর মতভেদকরেছেন। অধিকাংশ আলিম এ হাদিসের উদ্ধৃতিতে নারী নেতৃত্ব অবৈধ বলেছেন। অনেকে হাদিসটি নিয়েপর্যালোচনা করেছেন। কেউ কেউ হাদিসটির ভাষ্য বর্ণনামূলক, বিধানমূলক নয় বলেছেন। অনেকে নেতৃত্বেরধরনের বিভাজন টেনে রাষ্ট্রপ্রধান ব্যতীত অন্যান্য পদে নারীর নেতৃত্ব বৈধ বলেছেন। কেউ কেউ এর সাথেইসলামি জীবনব্যবস্থা ও মূল্যবোধের আলোকে কিছু শর্তারোপ করে একে বৈধ বলেছেন। সুতরাংমানবসমাজের অংশ হিসেবে নারীরা এ সমাজে কোন ধরনের নেতৃত্ব দিতে পারবে, আবার কোন ধরনেরপারবে না- তা যাচাই বাছাই করে এ বিষয়ে ইসলাম ও মুসলিম আলিমগণের দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি বর্তমান প্রবন্ধেআলোচনা করা হয়েছে

    Despite different views among scholars about the position of Ijma’ as a source of Shari’ah and about the possibility of Ijma’ to take place in its classical form in the contemporary times, the authenticity of it is proved by the Qur’an and Sunnah and the authority of Ijma’ is unanimously agreed. Hence the aim of the paper is to find out whether Ijma’ takes place in the contemporary Islamic Finance Fiqhi rulings or not. Based on document analysis that is the resolutions of different Shari’ah bodies like OIC Fiqh Academy, AAOIFI, SC of Malaysia, Kuwait Finance House, Dhallah of Baraka, Dubai Islamic Bank, Al-Rajhi Bank as well as different books and articles on Ijma’, this paper tries to get clear ideas about the classical and contemporary view of Ijma’ and also tries to find out unanimous agreement of Mujtahids on Islamic Finance rulings. Findings reveal that as per its classical definition Ijma’ does not take place in the contemporary Islamic finance, as no claim is found in favor of it. However, few rulings related to Islamic Finance are agreed by all Mujtahids of different Fiqh academy/ organizations and Shari’ah scholars which are the results of collective Ijtihad of Mujtahids of the current world and are binding in nature, so can be said are the results of Ijma’ of contemporary scholars

    Rights of Maintenance of a Muslim Wife under Islamic Law: A Legal Analysis

    Maintenance is one of the basic rights which the Islamic laws have provided for the Muslim women. Though there are plenty of general provisions in Shari’ah in favour of women, especially on inheritance and dower, men have been put under strict legal obligations for their women on matter of maintenance. Nafaqa, the Arabic synonym for ‘maintenance’, signifies all those things which are necessary to the support of life. It, therefore, comprehends food, raiment and lodging, though in common parlance it is limited to food other than luxurious items. A Muslim wife can claim it from her husband as a right. She is entitled to be maintained during subsisting of their marital life, and also during ‘iddat’ period which occurs after severance of their conjugal life. In Bangladesh, two primary statutes provide the provisions regarding maintenance, that is (i) The Muslim Family Laws Ordinance, 1961 (Ordinance No. VII of 1961) and (ii) The Family Courts Ordinance, 1985 (Ordinance No. XVIII of 1985). A wife, however, cannot claim maintenance as a right under some circumstances, such as on her status of a rebellious or nashizah whereby she denies to obey her husband. All these matters related to maintenance of the Muslim wife have been discussed in this article

    A Study of Hereafter in Islam

    The concept of hereafter which is also known in Islam as (Yawm al Qiyamah) is one of the basic article of Islamic faith, along with belief in God, His angels, His books and His Messengers, divine decree and predestination. In fact, in the most serious note, after the doctrine of unity of God (Tawhid) and revelation (al-wahy), the concept of hereafter is the most repeated theme with all vigour in the Islamic scripture (Qur’an). This implies, that all the tenets of Islam would be crumble and disintegrated if the afterlife or the eternal life were to be denied, as it will be very irrational to discuss the teaching of Islam and its tenets without referring to the great vitality that Hereafter (Al-akhirah) possesses, not only for man’s final end, but also for his life in this world. Based on this fact, this article will adopt textual approaches to examine the hereafter in Islamic perspective, this article aims to adopt descriptive and textual approach to examine the true meaning of hereafter in Islam, its various names according to noble Qur’an will unequivocally be explored, a short discussion about its signs will be followed, and lastly the necessity and wisdom of this Islamic metaphysic will be explored
