Leadership Traits from Islamic Perspective
Full text linkTraits of leaders are very essential for the effectiveness of leadership and without having required traits there would be no influence on the followers and without proper influence leaders cannot attain the predetermined goals. Although the effectiveness of leadership depends not only on the traits of leader but also on the situational factors (external factors, follower readiness); numerous studies show that the traits of leaders can overcome those situational factors in many cases. If leader holds the necessary traits he can achieve the goals controlling the situation. Since the followers imitate the leader it is easy for a good leader to create good followers. For instance, the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) transformed the worst people of Arab into the best people of all times with the help of his leadership traits. So, this study is conducted to identify the traits of leadership from Islamic point of view. After going through the Holy Qur’Én, ×adÊth, and the life of the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) and KhulafÉ’ (Successors), the researchers have developed thirty leadership traits such as faith on Allah, missionary zeal, vision, mutual consultation for decision making, knowledge, persuasiveness, justice, patience, enterprise and initiative, leniency, humility, self-sacrifice, Godfearing, honesty and truthfulness, keeping promise, physical soundness, moral character, no greed for position, sense of responsibility, accountability, optimism, good behavior, generosity, guardianship, striving for improvement, perseverance, inviting to good deeds and forbidding bad deeds, rendering service to the followers, economical, and neat and cleanliness. It is expected that holding these traits Muslim can increase the influencing power which will ultimately helps in achieving goals efficiently
Qur’anic Revelation in Song of Myself
Full text linkAl-Qur‟an, a message from the Almighty Allah, is an accurate and immutable guideline for human being in this world. It is a doubtless index of human life. It is not specially for Muslims, but for all mankind created by Allah. Except this, every message is man-made or partially true and has limitation and shortcomings. But Al-Qur‟an is abundant of absolute thoughts from Allah which are sent through our great and second to none human being, Hazrat Muhammad (SAWS). On the other hand, Walt Whitman‟s “Song of Myself” is one of the profound poems of Leaves of Grass, the forerunner of free verse literature. This poem celebrates the poet‟s indistinguishable individuality by melting away into the abstract “Myself”. Through his „Myself‟ definition, Whitman unveils the comprehensive and absolute truth of Al-Qur‟an. The cardinal themes of Al-Qur‟an— the accurate revelation of human creation, the confirmation of the existence of Our Creator, the ever presence of Him, inseparable bonding of all Muslims, direction towards the liabilities of human existence in the world, signifying fellow-feeling and inevitability of eternal life find exposure in “Song of Myself”. Though he is an American poet, he, in his poem, “Song of Myself”, he reveals these Qur‟anic applications in a very astounded way. This paper explores how the important obligations of Al-Qur‟an are revealed in a nonMuslim‟s writing, “Song of Myself” and the significance of these matters in human life
The Political Role of Muslim Women in Shariah: An Analysis
Full text linkThe Muslim scholars are in general agreement that women are not entitled to hold the topmost public office of a nation. Is that due to certain provisions in the Qur’an and Prophetic traditions (Hadith) or is it due largely to socio-cultural and economic settings of a country? The Qur’an urges women not to make dazzling display publicly as practiced during Jahiliyyah (al Qur’an, 33: 33). It also asserts that men are the protectors and maintainers of women (al Qur’an, 4: 34). The Prophetic tradition commonly cited in this regard is the saying attributed to him which proclaims: “No nation will ever prosper if a woman is assigned to its highest public office” (Bukhari, no. 4073, 6570). On the other hand, the Qur’an acclaims the Queen of Sheba for her just rule. Hence, some prominent scholars such as Imam Abu Hanifah, Tabari and Ibn Hazm support that women could hold the topmost judicial position. Ibn Hazm also asserts that in principle, it is conceivable that women can carry out the mission of Prophethood, and if they could be Prophets, they would also be leaders, for the Prophets are leaders. The present research is carried out to deal with this issue. It would primarily depend on the Qur’anic ayat, Prophetic traditions, heritage of Islamic Caliphs and the verdicts of Muslim jurists. The research will critically evaluate the validity of the quoted Hadith, and examine the circumstances surrounding the said Hadith to know its real perspective. It will make a comparative analysis between the classical and the contemporary scholars to see how the changing realities affected their stand on this crucial issue and what should be the objective standpoint on the political role of Muslim women

No full textউপমহাদেশে উপনিবেশবাদের এক চরম সংকটময় অবস্থার মাঝে কাজী নজরুলইসলামের আবির্ভাব ঘটে বাংলা সাহিত্যে। কাজী নজরুল ইসলাম বিশ ও ত্রিশের দশকেউপমহাদেশের অবিভক্ত বাংলার সাহিত্যাঙ্গনে এক ব্যতিক্রমধর্মী ব্যক্তিত্ব ছিলেন। সাহিত্য রচনার নানামুখিতায় মুসলমানদের ধর্মীয় ঐতিহ্যও নজরুল রচনার একটি অন্যতম অধ্যায়। মুসলিম ঐতিহ্যেরনানা দিক নিয়ে নজরুল লিখেছেন। নজরুল তাঁর কবিতা, গান ও সাহিত্যের অন্যান্য শাখার ভেতরমুসলমানদের ইতিহাস ও ঐতিহ্য তুলে ধরেছেন। হযরত মুহাম্মদ সা.-এর জীবনী, মুসলমানদেরপবিত্র ধর্মগ্রন্থ কুরআন শরীফসহ ইসলামের নানা ইতিহাস নিয়ে লিখেছেন। প্রায় দুই সহ¯্রাধিক গানরয়েছে নজরুলের। যেখানে স্থান পেয়েছে ইসলাম ধর্মের আরো নানা বিষয়। যেমন- নামাজ, রোজা,ঈদ, হজ্ব, জাকাত, হযরত মুহাম্মদ সা.-এর মাতা, পিতা, স্ত্রীসহ বিভিন্ন নবি, রাসুল এবং মুসলিমজাহানের উল্লেখযোগ্য ব্যক্তিবর্গ। কাব্য আমপারার মধ্যে দিয়ে পবিত্র কুরআন শরীফের বঙ্গানুবাদকরতে চেয়েছিলেন নজরুল। হযরত মুহাম্মদ সা.-এর জীবনী প্রকাশ করতে চেয়েছিলেন মরুভাস্করকাব্যের মধ্যে দিয়ে। “মুসলিম ঐতিহ্য ও নজরুল সাহিত্য” শীর্ষক আলোচ্য প্রবন্ধটিতে এইবিষয়গুলো আলোচনা-পর্যালোচনা করার প্রয়াস রয়েছে
