    Get PDF
Data-driven decision-making (DDDM) systems are important in strategic planning and resource allocation in private higher education institutions (HEIs). Nonetheless, using data to improve education has challenges in finding the correct data and knowing how to use that data. The objectives of the systematic review were to explore (1) types of data-driven decision-making (DDDM) systems adopted by school administrators in strategic planning and resource allocation, (2) key elements of DDDM systems\u27 successful implementation in the context of private higher education institutions (HEIs), and (3) whether DDDM systems improve quality and productivity in administrative decision-making. A systematic search for peer-reviewed articles on the topic published in 2019–2024 was made using Google Scholar, ERIC, and ScienceDirect databases. These include, but are not limited to, “data-driven decision-making tools,” “the impact of higher education data analytics,” “factors influencing assessment practices in private higher institutions,” “the impact of data mining in education,” and “quality and productivity in school management.” Of the 48 articles identified, 23 met inclusion criteria focused on DDDM in private HEIs. Data were extracted and thematically analyzed. The review revealed two main uses of DDDM tools: data-driven classroom instruction improvement tools to foster better student outcomes and data analytics to boost operational quality. Institutional culture, collaboration, resource access, and technological infrastructure were key success factors. Hence, the DDDM system seems a laudable tool for improving private HEI operations and student performance outcomes. However, successful implementation needs extensive institutional preparation, robust data governance frameworks, and multiple integrated DDDM tools. Future work should emphasize long-term impacts over time, comparative consideration of diverse contexts, and involvement of various stakeholders

    Get PDF
This study examined the influence of financial knowledge and financial attitude on credit card usage among credit card holders in General Santos City, Philippines using a quantitative descriptive-correlational design. A total of 420 respondents completed a structured survey based on a five-point Likert scale. Financial knowledge was measured through interest rates, payment readiness, and fee awareness, while financial attitude was assessed using risk tolerance, budget discipline, and impulse control. Credit card usage was evaluated through fraud and security awareness, payment behavior, and debt accumulation. Descriptive analysis revealed very high levels of financial knowledge, financial attitude, and credit card usage among respondents. Pearson correlation and multiple regression analyses indicated strong, statistically significant positive relationships between financial knowledge and credit card usage, and between financial attitude and credit card usage. Financial knowledge explained 63% of the variance in credit card usage, and financial attitude accounted for 70%. To investigate the moderating effects of demographic variables—age, sex, marital status, education, employment status, industry, and income—normality tests using Shapiro-Wilk and Kolmogorov-Smirnov methods were performed. Due to non-normal data, bootstrap mediation analysis was conducted, showing no significant mediation by demographic factors. The null hypotheses regarding the effects of financial knowledge and financial attitude were rejected, confirming their significant influence on credit card usage. However, the null hypotheses for demographic moderation were accepted. The findings highlight the importance of enhancing financial knowledge and fostering responsible financial attitudes to promote mindful credit card use. Future studies should explore other potential mediators such as financial anxiety, self-control, and access to financial education

This study aimed to understand how students’ internet usage, parental control, and academic performance are connected. It focused on selected Grade 7 to 10 students at Limpapa National High School Latap-Annex during the school year 2024–2025. The researchers examined how students use the internet—for homework, communication, and entertainment—and whether parental supervision influences their usage and academic results. The study was conducted in Latap-Annex, a remote school located about 42 kilo meters from Zamboanga City proper. The school serves the Subanen community and has only one section per grade level. A total of 40 students participated—10 from each grade level, evenly split between male and female. Using purposive sampling, the researchers selected students based on specific characteristics. Data was gathered through surveys. Findings revealed that students use the internet frequently for both academic and personal activities. Most students reported using it for school tasks, like homework and research, and also for leisure, such as games and social media. Despite concerns that non-academic use may be distracting, the study found no significant link between internet usage—whether academic or personal—and students’ academic performance. Most students had a general weighted average of 85–90, classified as “Very Good.” The study concluded that internet use supports academic success when used properly. Personal use, such as for entertainment, does not harm academic performance and can help students relax. However, proper guidance from parents and teachers is still recommended to ensure a healthy balance

    No full text
Purpose: This study examined the reading achievement of Grade Three pupils in the Pacific Area of the Division of Northern Samar and analyzed the relationship between selected school profile variables and pupils’ performance to provide an empirical basis for a strengthened Developmental Reading Program in English. Methods: A descriptive correlational research design was employed involving 65 public elementary schools. Data were obtained from school heads and Grade Three teachers using a validated survey questionnaire and school-based records. Pupils’ reading achievement was measured using three standardized literacy assessments: the Comprehensive Rapid Literacy Assessment, the Early Grade Reading Assessment, and the Early Language, Literacy, and Numeracy Assessment. Frequencies, percentages, means, and multiple regression analyses were used to analyze the data at a 0.05 level of significance. Results: Most schools were small, non-central institutions with limited teaching staff and scarce higher-level reading facilities. Reading achievement results showed that many pupils demonstrated basic decoding skills, but a substantial proportion remained at refresher, emergent, or transitional levels, particularly in comprehension. School population showed a statistically significant but very weak negative relationship with reading achievement, while reading facilities exhibited a weak but significant positive relationship. The number of teachers and type of school showed no significant relationship with reading performance. Conclusion: The findings indicate that structural school characteristics have limited influence on reading achievement. Meaningful improvement in Grade Three literacy requires enhanced reading facilities, effective instructional use of resources, and strengthened teacher capacity through a structured developmental reading program
