Evaluating Prototype Fidelity: Impacts on Cognitive Workload and Mental-Model Alignment in Flight-Booking Interfaces

    Get PDF
Early-stage prototyping is essential for translating user requirements to functional design concepts. However, empirical evidence that investigates how prototype fidelity impacts cognitive workload and mental-model alignment within multi-step tasks is limited. This study examines three levels of fidelity (low-fidelity paper sketches, medium-fidelity clickable wireframes and high-fidelity static HTML pages) in a multi-step flight-booking scenario. Participants in this study included 25 undergraduate students who completed the moderate-complexity task workflow using a counterbalanced within-subjects design. The NASA-TLX was used to measure perceived cognitive workload and mental-model alignment was evaluated using a self-report Likert-scale questionnaire. Thus, the following results demonstrated a significant reduction in cognitive workload and increase in mental-model alignment with increase in fidelity. Further task performance analysis indicated that completion times were faster for medium-fidelity wireframes than for other conditions. Therefore, these findings present empirical guidance for selection of prototype fidelity which further demonstrates that medium-fidelity wireframes provide considerable cognitive and usability benefits along with reduced resources

    Get PDF
This study examines the relationship between the efficiency of service partner superannuation processes and employee satisfaction within a payroll solutions organization. As a key component of employee benefits, superannuation requires accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance. The research focuses on how efficient processes, specifically in lodgement, payment, and ad hoc requests, affect employee satisfaction, particularly in terms of reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. A quantitative approach was used, with data collected through a structured survey among operations department employees. Responses were measured using a Likert scale. Statistical tools such as descriptive analysis, Pearson correlation, and regression were employed to evaluate the relationship between process efficiency and employee satisfaction. Findings indicate that the superannuation processes show moderate to high efficiency, especially in lodgement, payments, and ad hoc services. Employees reported a generally positive experience, with high trust in process reliability and responsiveness. However, opportunities for improvement remain, particularly in enhancing transparency, real-time support, and personalized service. These gaps highlight the need for more proactive and individualized engagement to elevate the employee experience from adequate to excellent. Improving responsiveness and feedback mechanisms can strengthen morale, boost productivity, and promote a more resilient workforce. Finally, the study confirms a statistically significant link between superannuation process efficiency and employee satisfaction. Streamlined operations not only reduce delays and errors but also reflect the organization\u27s dedication to quality and reliability—factors critical to employee and customer perceptions. Continuous process improvement is essential to maintaining competitiveness in an evolving market

    Get PDF
The use of modules in teaching aims to develop communicative competence—the core goal of English language learning, however, current modules often place excessive emphasis on grammar and fall short in providing engaging, authentic tasks. This study aimed to analyze tasks and activities according to classification of task types, categorization of mode of communication and aspects of communicative competence. This study analyzed the tasks and activities in the Grade 9 English Modules using content analysis design, through CEFR modes of communication, and communicative competence categories. Findings showed that reading and writing were emphasized, while speaking was minimal and listening absent. Linguistic competence was most addressed; sociolinguistic and strategic competences were least. The study highlights an imbalance in macro skill integration and communicative competence in the modules. To foster well-rounded communicative competence, future modules should include more listening and speaking activities, collaborative tasks, and a stronger focus on sociolinguistic and strategic skills

This study examines the challenges faced by Grade 6 learners in developing effective study habits, focusing on the influence of personal factors, home environment and technology and internet use. Data was gathered through a Likert scale survey administered to 55 students, exploring their study habits, academic performance, and the challenges they encounter in maintaining effective study routines. The study found that personal factors such as time management, motivation, and self-discipline were significant barriers to effective studying. The home environment, characterized by distractions, lack of a proper study space, and limited family support, further hindered students\u27 study efforts. Additionally, the excessive use of gadgets and social media led to reduced focus on academic tasks. The findings suggest that improving students\u27 study habits requires addressing both internal and external factors. Recommendations include providing students with time management and self-discipline training, improving the home study environment, adjusting school workloads, offering more personalized teacher support, and promoting responsible technology use. By implementing these strategies, students can develop more effective study habits, leading to improved academic performance

The Mediating Role of Integrated Reporting: Analyzing Firm Characteristics and Performance in Malaysian Public Firms

    Get PDF
This study examines the mediating role of Integrated Reporting (IR) in the relationship between firm characteristics (age, leverage, and liquidity) and firm performance (Return on Equity) among Malaysian public firms. Analyzing 2022 annual and sustainability reports from 281 Bursa Malaysia-listed firms using structural equation modeling, findings show that liquidity enhances IR disclosure, while firm age negatively impacts it. Leverage positively affects IR but does not significantly influence ROE. IR significantly mediates firm characteristics and performance, reinforcing its role in transparency, accountability, and stakeholder trust. Firms with higher IR quality demonstrate superior ROE, underscoring IR’s strategic value in corporate governance and long-term profitability. This study validates IR’s role in firm performance and introduces an IR Disclosure Index as a benchmarking tool, offering insights for managers, investors, and regulators

The study identifies subaltern perspective of Tilaks nationalism and shoe how he wasn’t as conservative as its thought of him in the recent contemporary history. It studies how he gave paramount importance to political reform (Swaraj) but was also liberal in social and economic reforms which includes empowerment of all marginalised and alienated groups like women, traders, labourers, farmers and most importantly Muslim and Dalits

Effect of Using Compressible Inclusion Around Footing on the Behavior of Short-Period Structures Under Seismic Loading

    Get PDF
This paper presents a study to investigate the seismic performance of short-period structures using compressible materials around foundations. Short-period structures are exposed to high seismic loads as a result of being located in the sensitive region of the acceleration response spectrum. A potential solution to this problem is to enclose the foundations of these structures with compressible materials such as expanded polystyrene foam in order to shift the periods of such structures from the sensitive region in the acceleration response spectrum to longer periods. A parametric study was carried out to examine the effect of using expanded polystyrene foam on the fundamental natural period of structures with isolated footings by analyzing single-degree-of-freedom systems. Results indicate that the use of expanded polystyrene foam has a significant effect on shifting the fundamental natural period of structures depending on the soil type. An increase in the period was up to 55%, compared to SDOF systems with a fixed-base
