Emotional Intelligence of Teachers and Classroom Learning Environment of Public Elementary Schools in Panabo City Division
Get PDFEmotional intelligence of teachers is believed to have influenced on developing a positive classroom learning environment. However, this had never been explored in the local context. With this, the study determined the extent of emotional intelligence of teachers and the classroom learning environment of public elementary schools in Panabo City Division. Also, it investigated the association of the involved variables. With the use of probability sampling, 150 elementary teachers in the public schools were selected as the respondents. Utilizing the descriptive-correlational survey method, the data collated were analyzed through the use of Mean and Product-Moment correlation. Results revealed that there was a high level of emotional intelligence among teachers and a high level of classroom learning environment. Furthermore, there was a significant relationship between the two variables. Based on the findings, it was further suggested that higher officials in the Department of Education and school principals may identify means on how to help teachers strengthen their emotional intelligence in order to develop a positive classroom learning environment. Apparently, the entire school need to work together to attain a healthy classroom learning environment
Organizational Justice as a Construct of Trust of Public Elementary School Teachers in Davao Del Norte Division
Get PDFThis study unearthed the relationship of organizational justice and trust of teachers since this had never been explored specifically in the local setting. Also, it determined the extent of organizational justice and the trust of public elementary school teachers in Davao Del Norte Division. This used probability sampling. Of which, 150 elementary teachers in the public schools were selected as the respondents. It utilized the descriptive-correlational survey method and the data collated were analyzed through the use of Mean and Product-Moment correlation. In this undertaking, it was revealed that there was an extensive organizational justice heads and an extensive trust of teachers. Furthermore, there was a significant relationship between the two variables. Considering the findings of this study, it was further suggested that higher officials in the Department of Education and school heads may identify means on how to promote organizational justice in the school setting to increase the trust of the teachers towards the organization. More so, future researchers may further explore the involved variables considering other factors and research methods specifically qualitative research or mixed methods research
Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) During In-Person Classes: Experiences of Secondary School Teachers
Get PDFThis phenomenological inquiry explored the experiences of secondary school teachers teaching TLE subject during the in-person classes in public secondary schools, Division of Tagum City. I employed qualitative – phenomenological study in exploring the experiences of the ten (10) participants of which primary instrument of data gathering was through in- depth interview. Major findings revealed on their experiences in teaching TLE subject during the in-person classes, after analyzing their responses, the following were the emergent themes namely effective teacher-student relationships, acquisition of necessary skills, and teachers’ competence on the subject. Furthermore, the challenges of the participants were learning loss and job mismatch. It can be noted that these challenges were critical for the secondary teachers in teaching the TLE subject. Finally, in terms of their insights in teaching TLE subject during the in-person classes drawn from the findings of the study, the emergent themes were holistic curriculum, enhancement of 21st century skills, and provision of high-quality instruction. Results imply that by helping students become more proficient in a variety of life skills and applications of technology, the TLE Department strives, in accordance with the vision and objective of the school, to foster entrepreneurial spirit, critical thinking, self-reliance, independence, cultural sensitivity, and self-sufficiency in its student body. However, a mismatch between skills and responsibilities on the job has a detrimental impact on both the macroeconomic and the microeconomic levels of work productivity. It should come as no surprise that human resources that have a high level of education, qualification, and skills but do not make use of them constitute a waste of resources and a possible missed opportunity for employment
Standpoints of Teachers in Using Teaching Pedagogies for Elementary Learners: Learning Gaps in Focus
Get PDFThis phenomenological inquiry explored and understood the experiences of teachers in using teaching pedagogies in the classroom at San Isidro District, Division of Davao del Norte. This also investigated their coping mechanisms from the challenges they encountered, and their insights drawn from the findings of this study. In exploring the experiences of the ten (10) participants, I employed the qualitative – phenomenological study of which primary instrument of data gathering was through in- depth interview. Major findings indicated that when the participants were asked about their experiences, they mentioned three themes namely, upgrading of teaching methodologies, encouraging students to learn, and focusing the role of technology in teaching. Furthermore, after analyzing the answers of the participants about their coping strategies with the challenges in using teaching pedagogies in addressing learning gaps, the following themes emerged namely culturally responsive teaching pedagogy, effectiveness of teachers, and positive relationships between teachers and students. Finally, the participants mentioned three emergent themes on their insights namely engaging in professional development programs, developing students’ critical thinking, and establishing a more child-centered classroom. Pedagogy equipped educators with the knowledge necessary to comprehend which methods were most effective within the confines of a schoolroom. It was helpful for them to know the various ways in which students learned and comprehended information since it allowed them to adjust their lectures to meet the requirements of the pupils. It was possible that the overall quality of instruction, as well as the students\u27 reception of it, increased as a result. Pedagogy played an essential function in assisting teachers to comprehend the most effective classroom management techniques. It provided them with insight into how students learn differently in various subject areas so that they could tailor their teachings accordingly
The Influence of Corporate Branding on Students\u27 University Choice in Kenya
No full textThis article presents an exploratory study investigating the influence of corporate branding on the university choice of postgraduate students in selected universities in Kenya. The purpose of the research was to understand how internal, external, and service mix branding strategies shape students\u27 perceptions and decisions. This study was significant as it sought to offer insights into the critical role of branding in the competitive higher education sector in Kenya. The study analyzed various branding strategies employed by universities, focusing on their effectiveness in shaping students’ perceptions of academic excellence, reputation, facilities, and overall value proposition. Data was collected through surveys with postgraduate students, providing a comprehensive view of the branding landscape. The findings highlighted that effective corporate branding significantly enhances the perceived academic strengths and unique programs of universities. Correlation between strong branding and perceptions of prestige was largely positive, as it required careful management to ensure that the emphasis on branding complements and enhances the actual quality and inclusiveness of the education provided. The promotion of state-of-the-art facilities and comprehensive branding that communicated the overall value and benefits of attending the university, including career prospects and alumni success, positively impacted students\u27 choices. The study concluded that corporate branding substantially influences students\u27 university choices in Kenya. It recommends that universities invest in robust and consistent branding strategies that clearly communicate their strengths and unique offerings. The study recommends that universities use both traditional and digital media to enhance their brand presence and engage with prospective students. It suggests that universities continuously assess and adapt their branding strategies to stay competitive in the dynamic educational environment in Kenya
Effect of Economic Responsibility on Community Engagement: A Study of Wings to Fly Equity Group Foundation in Nyamira County
Get PDFThis study sought to examine the effect of economic responsibility on community engagement by Wings to Fly Equity Group Foundation in Nyamira County. The study was guided by the stakeholder and Carroll’s Pyramid of Corporate Social Responsibility Model theories. The study used a descriptive research design, and collected data from sample size of 133 participants drawn from the community members who had directly or indirectly benefitted from the program of Wings to Fly in the five sub-counties in Nyamira; Nyamira North, Nyamira South, Borabu, Masaba North, and Manga by Equity in Nyamira County. The data was analysed descriptively and through inferential statistics with findings presented in tables, graphs and charts. The findings revealed a positive correlation between economic responsibility and community engagement. While the community overwhelmingly appreciated the bank\u27s presence and supported its projects, opinions varied on certain aspects of community engagement practices. The conclusions underscored the pivotal role of economic responsibility in shaping positive community engagement. Perceiving Teachers as Leaders: Perspectives of School Coordinators

I employed qualitative–phenomenological study in exploring the experiences of the ten (10) participants of which primary instrument of data gathering was through in- depth interview. Results indicated that from the perspectives of school coordinators, after analyzing their responses, the following were the emergent themes namely enhancement of teacher leadership, improvement of teacher efficacy, and promotion of decentralization. Additionally, when the participants were asked about their coping mechanisms from the challenges encountered as school coordinators, the following themes emerged namely adjusting to various circumstances, focusing on teacher competence, and asking support from school administrators. Lastly, the insights of school coordinators derived from the findings of the study were teacher empowerment, professional development of teachers, and effective delegation of tasks. Results imply that the school coordinator need to collaborate with the principal, other administrators, teachers, school staff, parents, the school-family council, community members, and students to develop and implement programs and services that meet the needs of students, their families, and the community. Clearly, delegation increases both efficiency and adaptability. It enables diverse individuals to complete tasks in various methods, thereby assuring a high level of success and objective attainment. This also results in a balanced distribution of tasks. Delegation facilitates efficient communication. Regularly delegating responsibilities accomplishes more than simply relieving the principal of some work. Effective delegation can increase the degree to which instructors and other members of the school community care about the school\u27s success

Major findings indicated three major themes emerge as pivotal aspects of these experiences, shedding light on the nuanced and multifaceted nature of fostering emotional and social well-being within the educational context. These themes revolved around the cultivation of positive relationships within the classroom, the emphasis on developing emotional intelligence in both teachers and students, and the need for adaptive teaching strategies that seamlessly integrate SEL principles into the fabric of everyday learning. Further, navigating the landscape of promoting social-emotional learning (SEL) among learners is a multifaceted endeavor for educators, often accompanied by challenges that require thoughtful coping mechanisms. Three major themes emerged namely professional development and support, integration into academic curriculum, and parental and community involvement. Finally, in the pursuit of promoting social-emotional learning (SEL) among learners, teachers provide invaluable insights that underscore the pivotal role of educational management. Three major themes emerged namely collaborative school culture, professional development and training, and resource allocation and infrastructure support. The research implications in promoting social-emotional learning (SEL) of learners held significant promise for advancing educational practices and policies. As the field of SEL continues to garner attention and recognition, research played a pivotal role in shaping the understanding of effective strategies, interventions, and contextual factors that contributed to the holistic development of students. Assessing Monitoring and Evaluation Systems in Philippine Local Government Units: A Study of Cavite LGUs
Get PDFThis study investigates the implementation of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems in Philippine Local Government Units (LGUs) through the lens of Good Governance Theory [1]. Recognizing the pivotal role of M&E in assessing the effectiveness and impact of LGU programs, projects, and policies [2], this research examines the alignment between M&E practices and the principles of good governance — participation, rule of law, transparency, responsiveness, consensus orientation, equity, effectiveness, efficiency, accountability, and strategic vision [1]. Despite the acknowledged importance of M&E, a significant proportion of LGUs in the Philippines prioritize M&E poorly [3], raising concerns about the factors influencing its implementation. This study delves into the extent to which good governance principles are reflected in LGU M&E practices, the challenges and barriers hindering effective implementation, and the influence of good governance alignment on the effectiveness of LGU initiatives. Ultimately, this research aims to derive policy recommendations that can bolster M&E capacity and foster a culture of evidence-based decision-making within Philippine LGUs [4]. Exploring the Influence of Assessment Item Bank Utilization to the Academic Performance of Accountancy Students
Get PDFThe researchers explored how the utilization of item banks influences the academic performance of accounting students. This study employed qualitative research and used phenomenology as the research design. Purposive sampling was incorporated in choosing the participants of this study; a total of fifteen (15) fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Accountancy students of Don Honorio Ventura State University were chosen and interviewed using a semi-structured interview. The results showed that while using the item bank helps students achieve their learning objectives and progress academically, there are numerous factors that hinder the students from engaging with this resource effectively. This study emerged with the following main themes: 1) how item banks affect accounting students\u27 learning process; and 2) how item banks affect students\u27 integrity and ethical behavior. The following recommendations were made regarding the use of assessment item banks: 1) students should see item banks as additional academic tools to enhance their knowledge and abilities; and 2) students should put more emphasis on using test banks to improve academic performance than just using them for convenience or unfair advantage
