Identifying the Role of Financial Obligations on Work Stress, Work-Life Balance, and Work Commitment of Bank Employees in General Santos City
Get PDFThe impact of financial obligations within the context of the General Santos City bank employees was studied to determine how it affected work stress, work-life balance, and work commitment. With emerging market dynamics and the evolving employee value proposition, this research filled a relevant gap in the study by exploring the impact of financial obligations on employee well-being and organizational behavior in the banking industry in the locality. Data was collected from a sample of 185 employees from six of the major banks using a quantitative descriptive correlational design. The study found that while financial obligations were low overall, certain debt sources, such as credit card debts and loans, indicated moderate levels. Higher financial obligations had a significant association with increased work stress and decreased work-life balance, but counterintuitively had a positive association with work commitment. These findings highlighted the nuanced effects of financial stressors on overall performance and illustrated the need for organizational interventions directed towards employee well-being and productivity. The study was also particularly useful for policy makers and bank administrators concerned with improving the working conditions of General Santos City
Socio-Economic Factors Influencing the Adoption of Linking Smallholder Farmers to the Market (LinkSFarM) Project by Vegetable Farmers in Malungon, Sarangani
Get PDFThis study examined the socio-economic factors influencing the adoption of the Linking Smallholder Farmers to Markets (LinkSFarM) project among vegetable farmers in Malungon, Sarangani. Specifically, it aimed to assess the farmers’ demographic and farm profiles, economic status, marketing practices, awareness and perception of the project, as well as the challenges encountered during its implementation. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative and qualitative techniques, with data gathered from 86 farmer beneficiaries from three barangays. Quantitative data were analyzed using tabular presentations to show frequencies, percentages, and rankings, to clearly identify which categories ranked highest or lowest. For the qualitative component, responses were transcribed one by one, with codes for every participant to maintain anonymity. Thematic analysis was then conducted to extract key themes and sub-themes, offering deeper insights into the challenges faced by farmers and their organizations. Combining both methods is crucial, since the quantitative data gives actual evidence of trends and relationships, and the qualitative data provides deeper context and understanding of farmers’ perceptions, and experiences. This provides a more comprehensive understanding of the factors that influence adoption of LinksFarM project. Results show that while the LinkSFarM project provides a promising benefit to the farmer such as increased welfare and income. However, despite the potential benefit of the project, several challenges were encountered during the implementation. Improving Literacy: Teacher’s Strategy, and Reading-Deficient Students
Get PDFThis study explored how teachers from Grades 1 to 6 at Labuan Central School help students who struggle with reading. It focused on four key teaching strategies: differentiated instruction, clear and consistent routines, positive reinforcement, and hands-on, interactive learning. Using a descriptive-correlational approach, the study gathered data through teacher questionnaires and analyzed it using statistical methods, including Pearson’s correlation. Findings revealed that teachers strongly implement these strategies, especially differentiated instruction, which allows them to adjust lessons based on individual student needs. Consistent classroom routines and positive reinforcement were also widely practiced, helping to create a structured and supportive learning environment. Interactive activities, such as using real-life materials and creative reading tasks, were commonly employed to keep students engaged. However, many teachers still reported that a significant number of students (about 26% to 50%) continue to fall behind in reading. The results showed a weak but statistically significant positive correlation between teaching strategies and students\u27 reading performance. This suggests that while effective teaching methods do contribute to improved literacy outcomes, other factors such as the home environment, student motivation, and access to resources also influence a child\u27s ability to read. The study highlights the importance of instructional strategies while emphasizing the need for broader support, including professional development, adequate school resources, and active community involvement, to fully address the needs of reading-deficient learners
Issues and Challenges in the Implementation of a Structure of the Observed Learning Outcomes (SOLO)-Based Formative Assessment in the Division of Northern Samar
Get PDFThis study explored the issues and challenges in the implementation of structured of the observed learning outcomes (SOLO) formative assessments among secondary schools in the Division of Northern Samar. Using qualitative research design, interviews and classroom observations were conducted among teachers who were purposively sampled from the 3 areas of the division namely pacific, central, and balicuatro to unearthing their experiences in the conduct of SOLO-based formative assessments. The saturated noteworthy statements in the thematic analysis formed global themes which are instructional constraints in assessment implementation, learner readiness and comprehension gaps, and alignment and resource limitations. It was concluded that challenges in implementing SOLO-based assessments stem from systemic barriers like time constraints, limited resources, and insufficient training. Teachers are willing but struggle with feasibility, especially in designing higher-level tasks. Sustained capacity-building is essential for successful implementation. With this, school heads may strengthen support by allowing more time for assessment planning, reducing teacher workload, and providing relevant materials. Teachers also need training in language-sensitive assessment to create accessible, cognitively rigorous tasks

Predatory Masculinities: A Gendered Re-reading of Ted Hughes’s Hawk Roosting
Get PDFThis study re-examines Ted Hughes’s Hawk Roosting through the prism of gender theory, arguing that the poem enacts a distinct mode of predatory masculinity embedded within its language, symbolism, and ideological posture. Traditionally interpreted as a poetic embodiment of political tyranny, individual ego, or natural instinct, the hawk’s monologue has rarely been investigated in relation to the cultural scripts of masculine authority it performs. Addressing this lacuna, the present paper analyses how Hughes’s representation of predation intersects with post-war British anxieties surrounding power, violence, and the naturalisation of hierarchical control. Drawing upon close reading, discourse analysis, eco-masculinity studies, and contextual literary history, the research contends that the hawk’s voice stages a form of hypermasculine identity characterised by sovereign self-authorization, vertical dominance, and uncompromising territoriality. The findings reveal that Hughes neither straightforwardly condemns nor glorifies such masculinity; instead, the poem deliberately holds readers within an uneasy tension between natural behaviour and ideological aggression. The discussion extends this argument by situating predatory masculinity within broader ecological and ethical debates. The study concludes by outlining avenues for future scholarship within eco-gender criticism and modern British poetry
Biometric Authentication Revolution: The Role of AI and UIDAI in Digital Payments
Get PDFAlthough UPI and Aadhaar have revolutionized the payments environment in India, QR codes, mobile applications, cash, and cards continue to play a significant role in retail transactions. At the point-of-sale (POS), a novel dual-factor authentication payment method that combines a user PIN with an Aadhaar-linked fingerprint has been suggested in this paper. With this approach, the consumer only has to touch a verified fingerprint scanner at the merchant\u27s terminal, input a PIN, and use India\u27s Aadhaar infrastructure to settle the payment from account to account. This makes advantage of the current AEPS (Aadhaar Enabled Payment System) and NPCI rails to transfer money in real time from the payer\u27s bank to the payee\u27s bank and authenticate the user using UIDAI. In addition to discussing security, privacy, consent, and reliability issues, the paper describes the system architecture in depth, including biometric hardware, PIN input, UIDAI connection, and AI fraud analytics. This paper shows how a similar idea with common fingerprint sensors might be implemented in India by taking inspiration from China\u27s palm-vein payment terminals. There are discussion of implementation issues such device pricing and rural connection. We contend that India\u27s transition to a fully cashless, inclusive, and secure digital payment ecosystem might be accelerated by using this fingerprint+PIN strategy
Re-Engineering Faith Based Birth Homes (FBBH) and Faith Based Birth Attendants (FBBA) as Complimentary Ante-Natal Care in Ibadan, Nigeria

The blessing to increase, populate and dominate the earth was the key to procreation. However, in spite of this divine blessing, there are challenges be-devilling pregnancy and childbirth for women of childbearing age. The travail to access antenatal care and the cost implication which is enormous especially within Ibadan Metropolis and its environs is the focus of this research. Government health institutions (GHI) are not able to serve all antenatal care, makes this research plausible by looking into the activities of Faith Based Birth Homes (FBBH)and Faith Based Birth Attendants (FBBA) as alternative to the Government health institutions with a few of re-engineering them for optimal performance. The research is premised on Stages of Change Model which identified five stages of change in human behaviour. Methodology adopted for this research is ethnographic survey, which includes Focused Group Discussion and Participatory observation. It was discovered that patronage of FBBH and FBBA by pregnant women within the Christian faith community and the society at large were high owing to a number of factors like serene environment, reduced cost implications, closeness to the women, good infrastructure and humane disposition. There is need for government intervention on FBBH and FBBA to better serve the needs of the people
The Story the Numbers Tell: A Systematic Review of Phil-IRI Implementation and Outcomes in Philippine Primary Education (2019–2024)
Get PDFThis systematic review synthesizes empirical research on the implementation and outcomes of the Philippine Informal Reading Inventory (Phil-IRI) in primary education from 2019 to 2024. Following the PRISMA guidelines, a comprehensive search was conducted across electronic databases (Google Scholar, ERIC, Philippine E-Journals), institutional repositories, and relevant government reports. Inclusion criteria encompassed peer-reviewed articles, theses, dissertations, and evaluation reports focusing on Phil-IRI use in Grades 3–6. Data extraction and thematic analysis were performed on the 28 eligible studies. The review identified three major themes: (1) Varied implementation fidelity influenced by teacher training, resource adequacy, and administrative support; (2) Mixed student outcomes, with studies reporting modest gains in reading levels but persistent challenges in moving students from Frustration to Independent levels; (3) Significant disruption and adaptation of Phil-IRI procedures during the COVID-19 pandemic period. While Phil-IRI remains, a cornerstone reading assessment tool, its effectiveness is mediated by systemic enablers and barriers. The findings underscore the need for enhanced teacher professional development, standardized digital adaptation protocols, and stronger policy-practice alignment to maximize its diagnostic and instructional potential
