    Get PDF
The current study evaluates the acceptability of frog meat (palakang bukid) within the community of General Santos City, particularly the Public Markets of Lagao, Uhaw and Labangal. Study shows that respondents show an appreciation of the cultural perspective of frog meat (mean=4.22) but do not consume the meat (mean=2.5) suggesting an underutilized food resource. Respondent had varying opinions concerning the taste (mean=2.94) and the meat\u27s benefits (mean=2.86) suggesting an educational gap concerning the meat. The willingness to consume frog meat is rated at (mean=3.0), reflecting a moderate level of acceptance among consumers suggesting that while frog meat is not universally embraced by the majority there is a notable portion of population of General Santos City open on trying to include it into their diets, and a moderate mean suggesting interest to purchase the meat when it was promoted to be of sustainable provenance (mean=2.78). Lagao was the most preferred of the three markets (total mean=3.202) and Uhaw had shown the most potential for growth (total mean=2.88). It was observed that respondents of Lagao had the most positive acceptance. There was a suggestion that frog meat had health benefits. It was suggested that the meat had less cholesterol and more protein than chicken. This positive observation of Market Lagao and positive sentiments concerning the meat suggests that the meat sellers of frog meat should partner with street vendors of BBQ, local vendors of meat retail to create a buzz within the community. It is suggested that there is a great potential for the community to sell and promote frog meat. More for selling meat within the community of General Santos City

“Subdue” and “Have Dominion” Over The Earth: The Problem of Meaning

    Get PDF
The field of eco-theology has largely shaped itself as a response to the accusations that Christianity and the Bible laid the foundations for the development of exploitative modes of science and technology. Based on Genesis 1:28 where God commands humanity to subdue the earth and have dominion over all living creatures, ecologists, nature writers, and environmentalists assert the ecological culpability of a biblically inspired attitude of dominion over nature and reject the Bible as a relevant resource in the development of a sound environmental ethic. Such reading of the Bible and our increasing ecological problems prompt the following questions: Is it possible that the Bible is not as anthropocentric as it is presumed? Could its seeming anthropocentric outlook be revealing of the limitations of a particular historical culture? What is the intended meaning of the command words, “subdue” and “have dominion,” as used in the creation story in Genesis? This paper is an inquiry into the meaning of human dominion over the earth. Guided by the above questions, it explored biblical scholarship from the early Church Fathers and medieval theologians and reflected on the ethical concerns about planet Earth in Laudato si. The common persuasion running through these sources is that human dominion over the earth is not given for uncontrolled exploitation and destruction of nature. Beyond the literal interpretation of Genesis 1:28, there is a theology of human dependence in the creation account(s) that seems conveniently left out. Our ecological realities today require a more holistic approach to the study of scripture, towards promoting commitment to solidarity with humans and the earth’s other-kind, and for an all-encompassing global common good

Automated Resume Parser Using Natural Language Processing

    Get PDF
Nowadays Recruiters invest a significant amount of time manually reviewing job seekers CV to identify key details such as skills, experience, and employment status etc. This process is quite time-consuming but also prone to human error. In this paper, we are going to propose an automated resume parsing system leveraging Natural Language Processing (NLP) to extract some specific details of the candidate\u27s in efficiently. Our approach consists of Named Entity Recognition (NER), and deep learning models such as BERT to enhance the accuracy of information which is to be extracted. Unlike traditional rule-based parsers that rely on rigid keyword matching, our model demonstrates adaptability to different resume formats and text variations

Exploring the Role of Parental Involvement and its Effects on Student Performance in Rural Schools

    Get PDF
This study examined the influence of parental involvement on the academic performance of Grade I to III pupils at Campo Uno Elementary School, a rural school in Zamboanga City that serves Indigenous Subanen learners. The research was guided by Epstein’s Framework of Parental Involvement and explored three main dimensions: school participation, the provision of educational resources, and academic support given at home. A descriptive-correlational research design was used, and data were collected from 74 parents through validated survey questionnaires. The findings revealed that parental involvement was generally low across all dimensions. Many parents rarely participated in school activities, had difficulty providing necessary learning materials, and offered limited academic support at home. The students, on the other hand, achieved an average grade of 78.81, which falls within the "Fairly Satisfactory" range. Statistical analysis showed no significant relationship between parental involvement and academic performance. Additionally, no meaningful differences were found when parental involvement was analyzed based on demographic factors such as age, gender, income, and educational background. These results suggest that in rural communities like Campo Uno, factors such as poverty, limited access to resources, and cultural barriers may hinder parents from engaging more fully in their children’s education. The study recommends that schools develop inclusive and practical strategies that promote family-school partnerships, especially in underserved and indigenous communities where support systems are often lacking

The Interconnection of Psychology and Forensic Science: Answers from Literature Review

    Get PDF
This paper delivers an in-depth post-doctoral review of the symbiotic relationship between psychology and forensic science. Tracing historical roots from Münsterberg’s early 20th-century experiments to modern neuroscientific and AI-driven approaches, it elucidates how psychological theories and methods underpin critical forensic activities—eyewitness memory enhancement, deception detection, offender profiling, investigative interviewing, risk assessment, and jury decision-making. The review dissects cognitive, social, developmental, personality, and neuropsychological components applied across forensic subfields, examines methodological techniques from laboratory paradigms to virtual reality simulations, and compares international frameworks in North America, Europe, Asia–Pacific, Latin America, and Africa. It assesses contemporary knowledge, identifies key research and practice gaps—ecological validity, cross-cultural generalizability, ethical guidelines—and surveys enabling technologies, including eye-tracking, neuroimaging, statement analysis software, and AI-based deception detectors. Emerging trends, such as trauma-informed interviewing, continuous monitoring of physiological markers, and hybrid human–AI investigative teams, are explored. The paper concludes by proposing a roadmap for future interdisciplinary research, practitioner training, and policy development to strengthen the evidence base at the intersection of psychology and forensic science

Adoption of Weed Management Practices Among Corn Farmers in Barangay Kitobo, Kitaotao, Bukidnon

    Get PDF
This study focused on the adoption and effects of weeds to the yield of corn farmers in Barangay Kitobo, Kitaotao, Bukidnon. It focuses on controlling weeds and the challenges they encounter while using environmental-friendly ways to control weeds. Descriptive survey approach was used in the study and gathered information from selective corn farmers using surveys questionnaires, field visits, and face to face interviews. Results showed that mostly corn farmers were dependent on the use of herbicides to control weeds, while eco-friendly methods like mulching, crop rotation, and using of machineries were not commonly practiced. The choice of farmers in controlling weeds were greatly affected by financial problems, lack of training, and insufficient man power. Although most farmers in the Barangay were financially capable, the moderate-high expenses of using sustainable methods made it difficult for them to use these practices. The study showed that farmers need more support, like proper training, financial help, and easier access to the tools and resources they need for their work. By addressing these problems, it can help farmers use more sustainable ways to control weeds, which can lead to higher yield and minimal impact to the environment. The findings of this study will help government leaders and agricultural extension workers create programs that support small scale farmers in using sustainable ways to manage weeds

    Get PDF
This study examined the relationship between leadership communication styles and supply chain performance among selected managers in an aviation manufacturing company located in Tanauan City, Batangas. Grounded in Transformational Leadership Theory, Leader-Member Exchange (LMX) Theory, and the SCOR Model Framework, the study aimed to assess the influence of directive, participative, transformational, and laissez-faire communication on efficiency, on-time delivery, and inventory management. A descriptive-correlational design was employed using a structured questionnaire distributed to 63 randomly selected managers from planning, procurement, logistics, and inventory departments. Findings revealed that participative, directive, and transformational communication styles were predominantly used, all rated “Very High,” while laissez-faire communication was least used though still rated at a high level. Managers demonstrated excellent supply chain performance across all indicators, with mean scores suggesting they consistently exceeded expectations in efficiency (M=3.43), on-time delivery (M=3.42), and inventory management (M=3.28). Spearman Rho and Kendall’s Tau-B tests revealed moderate, statistically significant relationships between leadership communication styles and supply chain performance (p=0.001). However, the Kruskal-Wallis H test indicated no significant difference in performance across communication styles (p=0.189), suggesting that contextual application of styles may be more critical than style alone. An action plan was proposed to enhance leadership communication through training, technological tools, and cross-functional alignment. The findings highlight the strategic value of adaptive communication styles in strengthening supply chain effectiveness in aviation manufacturing
