Cash Management Practices and Financial Stability Among Pawnshops in General Santos City: A Basis for Policy Intervention to Improve Operational Efficiency
Cash management is vitally important as it is the key factor to any successful business. The purpose of this study was to determine the cash management practices and financial stability as measured by the sound cash position among pawnshops in General Santos City. The study used a quantitative descriptive-correlational approach that involved fifty (50) respondents from different pawnshops. Quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, Spearman correlation, and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Results revealed that Pawnshops in General Santos City constantly employed cash management practices and maintained a sound cash position. Among the four key areas assessed, Preventing Fraud and Internal Control received the highest mean, which highlights a strong emphasis on safeguarding transactions and daily operations. Cash Flow Monitoring is also regularly practiced while Liquidity Management is effectively applied, findings suggest that strategies for maintaining adequate cash reserves may require further improvement. On the other hand, Budget Management received the lowest mean, indicating that although budgeting practices existed, they are less rigorously practiced compared to other areas. The study concluded that cash management practices have a significant relationship to financial stability. This suggests that an increase in cash management practices also increases financial stability. However, among the moderating variables, the number of employees significantly moderates the relationship between cash management and financial stability, where pawnshops with only 1–2 employees show a slightly weaker positive impact. The study provides recommendations for strengthening cash management strategies to enhance financial stability and ensure the long-term sustainability of pawnshops in General Santos City
Factors Associated with the Retention and Migration that Influence Senior High School Graduates in Amando Cope College
This study determined the manifested factors influencing the retention and migration of senior high school graduates in Amando Cope College starting its implementation on SY 2016-2017 up to present. The following conclusions are derived: Older students may have greater maturity, which can influence how they weigh their options regarding where to pursue college and might actively seek independence and choose to migrate, while younger students might be less ready for relocation, preferring to stay in a familiar environment like Amando Cope College; Sex plays a potentially important role in understanding pattern of retention and migration among senior high school graduates; parental earnings and parents’ educational attainment plays a critical role in shaping the post-senior high school educational decisions of students and a significant factor that can greatly influence their children’s academic decisions and aspirations; factors influencing the retention of SHS graduates, student’s positive past experience during their senior high school (SHS) years in Amando Cope College have powerful influence on their decision to either stay for college or leave for another institution these experiences, both academic and non-academic, shape the students’ perceptions of the college environment, support systems, and overall value. Factors influencing the migration of SHS graduates describe the learning environment as the most influential factor that affect their decision to migrate to other institutions. Physical setting, classroom atmosphere, availability of learning resources, quality of instruction, and overall academic culture plays a pivotal role in shaping students’ educational experiences and future decisions. Various recommendations were offered to the school administrators by the researcher upon the completion of the study
Stress Coping Mechanisms in the Lord’s Prayer: A Content Analysis
The Lord’s Prayer is among the most recited passages in Christian liturgy, yet its specific stress-coping functions have not been systematically examined. This study employed qualitative content analysis to map each of the prayer’s eight petitions onto Lazarus and Folkman’s transactional coping categories (problem-focused, emotion-focused, and meaning-focused) and Pargament’s religious coping dimensions (positive spiritual reappraisal and divine support). Two independent coding processes resulted in high interrater reliability (κ ≥ .80) in assigning one or more coping codes per petition. Results revealed a multimodal coping script: meaning-focused reappraisal and acceptance featured in three petitions, problem-focused appeals in two petitions, emotion-focused relief in two petitions, and explicit spiritual coping in one petition. The sequential arrangement, shifting from tangible resource requests to emotional catharsis, cognitive reframing, and spiritual transcendence, parallels best-practice stress interventions and suggests that the Lord’s Prayer functions as a compact, ritualised manual for resilience. Implications include integrating these findings into spiritually informed stress-management programs in pastoral and clinical settings. Future research should experimentally test prayer-based interventions, explore the effects of cross-cultural translation, and assess physiological and long-term psychological outcomes
The Influence of Corporate Visual Identity on Brand Recognition and Recall Among Public Universities in Nairobi County, Kenya
Corporate visual identity (CVI) is a strategic asset for organisational branding, yet its specific influence within Kenya\u27s public higher education sector remains underexplored. This study assessed the influence of CVI on brand recognition and recall among public universities in Nairobi County, Kenya. The specific objectives were to determine the influence of the brand logo, brand colour, and brand graphics on brand recognition and recall. The study was anchored by Visual Rhetoric Theory, Visual Semiotic Theory, and Signal Theory. A convergent mixed-methods design was employed, combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews and content analysis. The target population comprised students, university management, and communication staff from four public universities: University of Nairobi (UoN), Technical University of Kenya (TUK), Multimedia University of Kenya (MMU), and Co-operative University of Kenya (CUK). A sample of 384 students was calculated using Cochran\u27s formula, yielding 301 valid responses (78.4% response rate). Purposive sampling was used to select 17 staff members for interviews. Data was collected using structured questionnaires, semi-structured interview guides, and a qualitative content analysis of digital platforms during a peak communication period (July 2 – August 18, 2025). Quantitative data was analysed using descriptive statistics in SPSS, while qualitative data was analysed thematically using NVivo. The study found that the brand logo is a critical element, with 76.5% of respondents agreeing it was unique and memorable. Brand colour was highly influential, with 79.8% of respondents finding it attractive and easy to recognise. Brand graphics were perceived positively but scored relatively lower at 64.4% on consistency. Over 82% of respondents demonstrated strong brand recognition and recall. Content analysis revealed a hierarchy of CVI compliance: UoN (92.1%), MMU (83.0%), TUK (75.7%), and CUK (71.0%). The study concludes that a cohesive and consistent CVI significantly enhances brand recognition and recall. It recommends that public universities prioritise logo simplification for digital use, enforce strict colour consistency across all platforms, develop comprehensive brand manuals for graphics, and conduct regular brand audits to maintain a competitive edge in the higher education landscape
The Post-COVID Attention Crisis: A Study on the Decline of Students’ Attentiveness Across Classroom and Home Environments
The COVID-19 pandemic fundamentally transformed educational practices and social routines, producing long-term behavioural consequences for learners at every developmental stage. Among the most concerning outcomes is a measurable decline in students’ attentiveness, not only within formal classrooms but also in their domestic environments. This paper critically examines the post-COVID attention crisis by integrating empirical insights, theoretical frameworks of cognitive load, digital dependency, and socio-emotional recovery, and qualitative indicators from teachers, parents, and learners. Through a synthesis of interdisciplinary literature and emerging post-pandemic behavioural research, this study identifies key drivers of attentional deterioration: increased mobile device immersion, excessive social media exposure, disrupted learning habits during lockdown, weakened self-regulation mechanisms, and heightened emotional fatigue. The paper highlights substantial research gaps, proposes an integrated model explaining cross-context attentional decline, and offers implications for educators, parents, and policymakers. It concludes with recommendations for interventions that re-establish sustained attention, foster digital balance, and strengthen home–school collaboration in the post-pandemic era
Transforming Cybersecurity Through Artificial Intelligence
As the cyber threats become more complex and widespread, the classical measures of cybersecurity cannot be expected to keep pace. New entrants into the striking arena are the artificial intelligence (AI) technologies for revolutionizing cybersecurity, including, but not limited to, threat detection, incident response automation, and risk assessments. The AI systems can process vast amounts of data in a very short time, rather finding anomalies and threats with better precision than traditional techniques. With machine learning models, network traffic could be monitored for patterns to predict and prevent possible cyber-attacks, malware, and mitigate against phishing. Plus, AI-enabled security automation would reduce human interference, thereby speeding up response time and cutting operational costs. However, some challenges still need to be addressed regarding the adversarial AI, the data privacy concerns it brings, and the explainability of models, making them safe and ethical for use. This paper discusses how AI is changing the face of cybersecurity through its benefits, challenges, and future perspectives on how resilient defense mechanisms will evolve against the maturing cyber threats
