On Inter-stylistic Dialogues in Translation. Igor Severyanin and Vladimir Mayakovsky at the Cradle of Polish Futurism
Get PDFDer Beitrag untersucht die einzigartige innere Dynamik der Anfangsphase der polnischen Rezeption des russischen Kubofuturismus in den 1910er–1920er Jahren. Die Poetik von Igor Sewerjanin, dem dekadenten Anfuhrer der russischen Ego-Futuristen, wird als Katalysator sowohl fur die neu entstehende ursprungliche polnische futuristische Poesie als auch fur die ersten polnischen Ubersetzungen der Kubo-Futuristen diskutiert. Die Rivalitat zwischen Wladimir Majakowski, einem der Grundungsmitglieder der Hylaea-Gruppe, und Sewerjanin um den Titel „Konig der Dichter“ erstreckte sich auch auf den Bereich der literarischen Ubersetzung, der zum Schlachtfeld fur den Kampf verschiedener poetischer Stilrichtungen wurde. Der Artikel konzentriert sich auf interstilistische Dialoge, die in den ersten polnischen Ubersetzungen der Gedichte Majakowskis und Sewerjanins gefuhrt wurden.The article explores the unique inner dynamics of the inaugural phase of the Polish reception of Russian Cubo-Futurism in the 1910s–1920s. Get PDFThe article discusses the subject of romance as a literary subgenre, presenting the analysis in the context of changes occurring in the Polish publishing market. It examines the characteristics of pocket romance novels (with particular emphasis on Harlequin titles), popular series, sales channels, and the overall market situation of this type of literature. The collection of this information is aimed to facilitate an assessment of whether romance genre holds literary value, whether it is worth including in library collections, and whether it can serve as a basis for designing library services inspired by its themes and contexts. The analysis not only provides insight into the development dynamics of romance literature within the Polish publishing market (in the years 2019-2022), but also raises questions about the subgenre’s position in national book production and whether libraries, when planning their service offerings, should take reader interest in this genre into account. The article is based on statistical data from the National Library of Poland and subject literature. W artykule omówiono zagadnienie romansu jako podgatunku literackiego. Rozważania te przedstawiono w kontekście zmian zachodzących na polskim rynku wydawniczym. Zaprezentowano cechy romansu kieszonkowego (ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem Harlequinów), popularne serie, kanały sprzedaży i ogólną sytuację tych pozycji na rynku. Zgromadzenie wspomnianych informacji miało na celu ułatwienie dokonania oceny, czy literatura romansowa jest literaturą wartościową, czy warto kolekcjonować jej zasoby w bibliotekach, a także projektować usługi bazujące na jej motywach i kontekstach. Przeprowadzenie analizy pozwoliło nie tylko na zrozumienie dynamiki rozwoju literatury romansowej na polskim rynku wydawniczym (w latach 2019-2022), ale także na postawienie pytania, jakie miejsce w polskiej produkcji wydawniczej zajmuje ten podgatunek oraz czy biblioteki, planując swoją ofertę usługową, powinny uwzględniać zainteresowanie nim czytelników? Artykuł przygotowano w oparciu o dane statystyczne Biblioteki Narodowej oraz literaturę przedmiotu.

Get PDFIn recent years, the number of households in Poland and Europe where animals are becoming family members has been on the rise. Despite this trend, the implications of this phenomenon for family relationships, particularly in the context of the youngest generation, are still being ignored in cross-sectional studies as well as in research conducted by educators and public decision-makers. The aim of this article is to analyze Polish and foreign literature on the relationships between children and youth and animals, mainly domestic ones. Referring to the matrix of perceiving domestic animals, and in particular to the anthropomorphism-animalism dichotomy (Konecki 2005), the authors present the dynamics of this relationship in three areas: animals as family members, animals in non-biological families, and cruelty to animals by children and youth. Three areas for future research are identified: (1) comparative analysis of the functioning of animals in childless families, (2) children's education in the context of relationships and the behavior of companion animals, and (3) the therapeutic impact of the presence of animals in (non)biological family settings.W ostatnich latach na terenie Polski i Europy wzrasta liczba gospodarstw domowych, w których zwierzęta stają się członkami rodzin. Pomimo tej tendencji w badaniach przekrojowych, a także w badaniach prowadzonych przez edukatorów i decydentów publicznych, wciąż ignoruje się implikacje tego zjawiska dla relacji w rodzinie, szczególnie w kontekście najmłodszego pokolenia. Celem artykułu jest analiza polskiego i zagranicznego piśmiennictwa dotyczącego relacji dzieci i młodzieży ze zwierzętami - głównie domowymi. Autorzy, odwołując się do matrycy postrzegania zwierząt domowych, a w szczególności do dychotomii antropomorfizm – animalizm (Konecki 2005), przedstawiają dynamikę tej relacji w trzech obszarach: zwierzęta jako członkowie rodzin, zwierzęta w rodzinie niebiologicznej oraz znęcanie się nad zwierzętami przez dzieci i młodzież. Wskazano trzy obszary przyszłych badań: (1) analiza porównawcza funkcjonowania zwierząt w rodzinach bezdzietnych (2) edukacja dzieci w kontekście relacji oraz behawioryzmu zwierząt towarzyszących; (3) wpływ terapeutyczny obecności zwierząt w obszarze rodzin (nie)biologicznych.

Get PDFAfter the end of World War I, German and Soviet politicians and military officers took the position that Poland, which had lost its independence in the late 18th century because of three partitions and regained independence in 1918, was a seasonal, transitional state, as evidenced by the statements of some figures from both Germany and the USSR. In the interwar period, mutual relations varied. From far-reaching distance and sometimes hostility in the 1920s to establishing economic and even military contacts. After Adolf Hitler came to power in January 1933, the situation became much more acute. Two ideologies faced each other: Nazi (also called fascist) and communist. The first of nationalist provenance, attacked political and racial opponents. The second, referring to socialism and internationalism, essentially fought class enemies.Po zakończeniu I wojny światowej politycy i wojskowi niemieccy oraz sowieccy stali na stanowisku, że Polska, która w końcu XVIII w. straciła niepodległość w wyniku trzech rozbiorów, a odzyskała niepodległość w 1918 r., jest państwem sezonowym, przejściowym, o czym świadczą wypowiedzi niektórych osobistości tak ze strony Niemiec, jak i ZSRR. This article offers a cross-cutting analysis of this phenomena, connecting them to Michael Barkun’s concept of stigmatized knowledge, that encompasses ideas related to conspiracy theories, pseudoscience and esotericism.
