From Geographic Advantage to Strategic Hub: Georgia’s Role in International Logistics
Thepurpose of the presented study is to analyze the strategic advantages of Georgia’s geographical location and the transport and logistics potential of the country, which can become one of the main drivers of the country’s economic growth. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that it considers Georgia as one of the important links between Europe and Asia in the context of the modern Silk Road, which is based on both geographical factors and the political and economic environment. The emphasis is on the prospects for the country’s development as an intermodal logistics hub and on the opportunities that may become tangible through the implementation of the right infrastructural, educational and strategic policies. In addition, the work draws attention to the contradictions associated with monopoly structures, technological backwardness and institutional failures. The study revealed that Georgia’s geographical location, access to Black Sea ports, and stable relations with neighboring countries create a solid foundation for the country to use its transit potential and develop into a regional logistics hub. To do this, it is necessary to systematically upgrade transport infrastructure, attract investments, strengthen logistics education, and introduce technological systems. Effective logistics will not only promote economic growth and competitiveness but also significantly reduce trade costs and increase the country’s investment attractiveness. As a result of strategically planned reforms, Georgia can occupy a central place in the Eurasian trade space, which will significantly strengthen its economic and political position in the region in the long term
Urban Beaches as Integral Elements of the Public Space Structure in Coastal Cities: Comparative Insights from Catalonia and Pomerania
Coastlines fulfill diverse economic, protective, and recreational functions, and their physical forms vary widely—from high, steep landscapes such as fjords to low-lying shores characterized by sandy beaches. A particular type of coastline is the beach located within an urban environment. These areas, equipped with various recreational facilities, not only support seasonal tourism but also contribute to year-round outdoor activity, well-being, and emotional restoration for local communities, while complementing the network of urban public spaces. This study examines whether urban sandy beaches in Catalonia (Spain) and Pomerania (Poland) can be considered integral elements of the public-space network and whether their spatial development and functions enable them to operate as such throughout the year. The research employs a mixed qualitative approach combining desk research with field-based assessment across selected case studies from both regions. A comparative analysis was conducted to identify similarities, differences, and emerging patterns in beach development and use
Dariusz Kacprzak, "Kolekcja Doeringów", Szczecin: Willa Lentza 2024
Dariusz Kacprzak’s book reconstructs the collection of paintings and graphic art belonging to Szczecin citizens Frida and Wilhelm Doering, representatives of the wealthy and influential city’s elites. The works of late German realism, which the Doerings collected in large numbers, became part of the most valuable part of the collection, which was finally donated to the Municipal Museum in Szczecin in 1925. As a whole, the Doering collection represented a significant selection of good, and sometimes even excellent, German art from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, including works by outstanding Munich realists, as well as representatives of the Berlin Secession, who paved the way for modern German painting.

“You Can Compare It to a Car, Because a Car Gives You That Kind of Freedom”: Automotive Metaphors and Comparisons in the Narratives of Trainers and Guide Dog Handlers
This article examines the metaphorical comparison of guide dogs to cars in the narratives of visually impaired handlers and trainers. Based on qualitative data collected in Poland and Slovakia, it explores how this metaphor is used to convey experiences of mobility, independence, trust, and competence. The car metaphor—found in references to specific brands, vehicle types, and driving experiences—helps articulate the practical and emotional value of guide dogs, often in contrast to the white cane. Framed through mobility studies and ecological model of disability, the analysis shows that guide dogs, like cars, extend handlers’ agency and facilitate smoother integration into everyday spatial and social environments. At the same time, this metaphor reflects broader imaginaries of research participants shaped by dominant norms, symbols, and values related to automobility. This article examines the metaphorical comparison of guide dogs to cars in the narratives of visually impaired handlers and trainers. Sprawozdanie z ogólnopolskiej konferencji naukowej „Imagineering. Lokomocja w perspektywie antropologicznej”, Gdańsk, 26–27 września 2024 roku
This paper presents a summary of the national academic conference “Imagineering. Transport from an Anthropological Perspective” held on September 26–27, 2024, in Gdańsk, Poland. The conference, organized by the Institute of Anthropology at the University of Gdańsk (Instytut Antropologii Uniwersytetu Gdańskiego) and the Polish Folklore Society – Gdańsk branch (Polskie Towarzystwo Ludoznawcze oddział Gdańsk), aimed to explore the anthropological dimensions of transport (pl. lokomocja) understood as a technological aspect of movement. Central to the discussions was the intersection of socio-cultural imaginaries and technology, encapsulated in the neologism imagineering – a synthesis of imagination and engineering. This paper presents a summary of the national academic conference “Imagineering. Oznaczenia epigraficzne na późnośredniowiecznych i wczesnonowożytnych osobistych pieczęciach tekstylnych – jako świadectwo ówczesnej praktyki transportowej
Textile seals are a multifaceted category of material historical source still underused in Polish historical writing. A type of these are the personal seals of merchants. The design of personal seals made it possible to make additional marks on them. The purpose of this article is to present epigraphic sources of this type, briefly describe their significance, and indicate the research possibilities they offer. The inscriptions made by merchants served mainly as an additional sign on cargoes to make it easier to distinguish them from each other. In the Middle Ages, these were usually engravings specifying the length of a piece of cloth, or the order marks of the cargo (numbers or letters). In the modern period, with the development of trade and the capacity of ships, the engravings were replaced by imprints of matrices containing numerical data relating to the goods being transported (cargo number, length of a piece of cloth). Indirectly, markings of this type make it possible roughly to distinguish imported personal seals from those that may be of local provenance.Textile seals are a multifaceted category of material historical source still underused in Polish historical writing. Sleep disturbances partly mediate the association between chronotype and depressive symptoms in adult video game players
Background
Playing video games is a popular leisure activity, but if prolonged it can increase the risk of sleep and mood disturbances. Individuals with an evening chronotype show a greater tendency to be engrossed in video games.
Participants and procedure
This study tested whether sleep disturbances would mediate the association between chronotype and depressive symptoms in adult video game players. Participants were 1208 adults (86.7% men, mean age 27.4 ± 8.07 years who regularly play video games. Chronotype was assessed with the Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire, the Centre for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale was used to measure depressive symptoms, and sleep disturbance was evaluated with the Athens Insomnia Scale.
Results
We found that adults who play video games and show an evening chronotype preference spent more time playing than those with a more intermediate or morning preference. An evening chronotype was linked to a higher level of depressive symptoms, and our bootstrap mediation analysis revealed that sleep disturbances partly mediated this association (β = –.15, SE = .02, 95% CI [–.19; –.11]).
Conclusions
Our study suggests that an evening chronotype should be considered when exploring psychological risk factors contributing to the development of problematic gaming. In adults who play video games and display a tendency towards eveningness, higher rates of depressive symptoms may be partly explained by inadequate sleep. Background

„Zapraszam na prawdziwe polskie wiadomości”. Tematyka migrantów jako retoryczna strategia w kampanii wyborczej w serwisie informacyjnym „Wiadomości” TVP i „Dzisiaj” TV Republika
Over the past two years, there have been four election campaigns in Poland, three of which were selected for this analysis. As a result of the mediatisation of politics and the phenomenon of narrative journalism, television news programmes have become a tool for persuading voters. One of the communication tools was the figure of the enemy, which was regularly migrants. The aim of the study was to identify the rhetorical strategies used in the news programmes ‘Wiadomości’ on TVP and ‘Dzisiaj’ on Telewizja Republika during the election campaigns in 2023 (TVP), 2024 and 2025 (TV Republika) and to identify the argumentation patterns used in the form of topoi. The research material consisted of 39 news programmes from the last two weeks (until the election silence) before the parliamentary elections in Poland, the European Parliament elections and the presidential elections. The study characterised the metanarrative of the right-wing broadcaster in the pre-election period, revealing the argumentation patterns, tone of speech and manipulative techniques used to describe migrants in the context of the struggle for support, i.e. for the votes of news service viewers.W ostatnich dwóch latach w Polsce odbyły się cztery kampanie wyborcze, z czego trzy zostały wybrane do zawartej w tym tekście analizy. Materiał badawczy stanowiło 39 serwisów informacyjnych z ostatnich dwóch tygodni (do ciszy wyborczej) przed wyborami parlamentarnymi w Polsce, do Parlamentu Europejskiego oraz przed wyborami prezydenckimi. Przeprowadzone badanie scharakteryzowało metanarrację prawicowego nadawcy w okresie przedwyborczym, ukazując schematy argumentacyjne, ton wypowiedzi oraz techniki manipulacyjne używane do opisywania migrantów w kontekście walki o poparcie, a więc o głosy widzów serwisów informacyjnych
