Self-assessment of health status among seniors in the European Union
Full text linkThe aim of this paper was to determine the level of self-assessment of health status among the senior population of the European Union (EU). The analysis used quantitative data from Eurostat. An objective division of EU countries was adopted based on their geographical location. The phenomenon was characterised using basic demographic measures, especially selected indicators describing the health conditions of seniors. A statistically advanced method rarely used in social studies – Kohonen self-organising neural networks – was applied. This method identified four types of health self-assessment among the senior population of the EU Member States for the years 2013 and 2022. Based on the typology, the highest level of self-assessment was observed in five countries (Denmark, Ireland, Sweden, Austria, and Belgium), while the lowest concerned eight countries (Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Croatia, and Portugal)

Full text linkThis article aims to develop an extended classification of online hate and to analyse its emotional, social, and psychological consequences. The subject of the study is the diversity of hate-related behaviours in digital communication and their impact on individuals and communities. The proposed classification is based on the author’s original conceptual work, informed by a qualitative review of selected publications and long-term observation of online interactions. The analysis of the social consequences of hate highlights its potential effects, including conflict escalation, social divisions, exclusion, and discouragement from participating in public debate.Celem artykułu jest opracowanie rozszerzonej klasyfikacji hejtu internetowego oraz analiza jego konsekwencji emocjonalnych, społecznych i psychologicznych. Przedmiotem badań jest zróżnicowanie zachowań opartych na mowie nienawiści w komunikacji cyfrowej oraz ich wpływ na jednostki i społeczności. Zaproponowana klasyfikacja opiera się na autorskiej koncepcji, uwzględniającej jakościowy przegląd wybranych publikacji oraz wieloletnią obserwację interakcji w mediach społecznościowych. No full textThis paper is a trial of showing analogy between the function that ‘little objects’ perform in the vicissitudes of desire and certain important discoveries in the world of perfume industry. I make use of the Lacanian concept of imitation, in particular I discern between the structural imitation and narcissistic imitation. The latter is a sort of ‘superficial’ process based on the Imaginary, pre-Oedipal functioning of the subject, the former is a much more ‘deeper’ phenomenon that consists in such a kind of imitation that considers the essential structure determining the mechanism in question. I make a short description of the industry of composing fragrances. In the story of the business of producing scents there has been a certain breakthrough, allowing us to understand the libidinal trajectories of drive. The beginning has been the extraction of ‘escentric molecules’ by producers of perfumes. Especially, the one most worth of being interested in is the so called ‘ISO E Super’, the discovery of which has been an accomplishment achieved by Geza Schoen. On this base I make a statement that smell could function as one of ‘objects a’, as they were described in Lacan’s theory. This supposition is made due to the observation that this mysterious molecule ‘behaves’ structurally in a similar way as the essential feature accounting for the fact that ‘little objects’, especially the two ones additional conceptualized by Lacan, namely voice and gaze, play such a crucial described in the Lacanian psychoanalysis. Although any ‘little a’ seems to be sort of ‘hidden’ in the libidinal economy of the subject, its impact is enormous, as it helps a particular human being become ‘risen to the dignity of the Thing’. The ‘objects’ set in motion the whole energy of the drive that circles around these unique ‘points’ of the dynamic mechanism of desire. The specific ‘something’ that characterizes a particular personal smell hypothetically contains a kind of an ‘accountant’ of the ISO E Super, the enigmatic factor that paves the way to the recognition (not knowledge, as Lacan maintains) of the infinitely unknown Other in our neighbor.Niniejszy artykuł stanowi próbę wykazania analogii między funkcją, jaką pełnią „małe przedmioty” w zmiennościach pożądania, a pewnymi ważnymi odkryciami w świecie przemysłu perfumeryjnego. Wykorzystuję lacanowską koncepcję imitacji, w szczególności rozróżniam między imitacją strukturalną a imitacją narcystyczną. Ta ostatnia jest rodzajem „powierzchownego” procesu opartego na wyobraźni, przededypalnym funkcjonowaniu podmiotu, natomiast ta pierwsza jest zjawiskiem znacznie „głębszym”, polegającym na imitacji, która uwzględnia zasadniczą strukturę determinującą dany mechanizm. Przedstawiam krótki opis branży tworzenia zapachów. W historii produkcji zapachów nastąpił pewien przełom, który pozwala nam zrozumieć libidinalne trajektorie popędu. Początkiem było wydobycie „cząsteczek ekscentrycznych” przez producentów perfum. Szczególnie interesująca jest tak zwana „ISO E Super, której odkrycie jest osiągnięciem Gezy Schoena. Na tej podstawie twierdzę, że zapach może funkcjonować jako jeden z „obiektów a”, zgodnie z teorią Lacana. To założenie wynika z obserwacji, że ta tajemnicza cząsteczka „zachowuje się” strukturalnie w podobny sposób, jak istotna cecha wyjaśniająca fakt, że „małe obiekty, zwłaszcza dwa dodatkowe, konceptualizowane przez Lacana, a mianowicie głos i spojrzenie, odgrywają tak kluczową rolę w psychoanalizie lacanowskiej. Chociaż każde „małe a” wydaje się być w pewnym sensie „ukryte” w libidinalnej ekonomii podmiotu, jego wpływ jest ogromny, ponieważ pomaga konkretnej istocie ludzkiej „wznieść się do godności Rzeczy. „Obiekty” uruchamiają całą energię popędu, który krąży wokół tych wyjątkowych „punktów” dynamicznego mechanizmu pożądania. Specyficzna „rzecz”, która charakteryzuje konkretny osobisty zapach, hipotetycznie zawiera rodzaj „księgowego” ISO E Super, enigmatycznego czynnika, który toruje drogę do rozpoznania (a nie wiedzy, jak twierdzi Lacan) nieskończenie nieznanego Innego w naszym bliźnim.

Full text linkThe subject of this article is the shaping of the axiological system by the media in the United States and Sweden. The medium chosen for this study is television, which, thanks to the specificity of its language, creates not only audiovisual images of reality but also shapes specific types of audience awareness. This is because language is a communication tool that can both convey and influence something. A multimodal analysis was chosen to examine the values presented in selected fragments of American and Swedish TV programs, as a reliable study of television messages is only possible by considering each of their audiovisual elements and the interrelationships between them. The topic presented and analyzed concerns the offer to purchase Greenland, made by US President Donald Trump during his first and second terms, which (due to the intervening presidency of Joseph Biden) are separated by five years. This topic, raised in 2019, becomes relevant again in 2025. The article highlights the differences visible in this time period, which concern the media presentation of the topic, including the message of values, constructed in the USA and Sweden.Tematem artykułu jest kształtowanie systemu aksjologicznego przez media w Stanach Zjednoczonych i Szwecji. Medium, wybranym do badań, jest telewizja, która dzięki specyfice swojego języka, tworzy nie tylko audiowizualne obrazy rzeczywistości, ale także kształtuje określone typy świadomości odbiorców. Dzieje się tak, ponieważ język to narzędzie komunikacji, którym można zarówno coś przekazać, jak i na coś wpłynąć. Do badania wartości prezentowanych w wybranych fragmentach amerykańskich i szwedzkich programów TV, została wybrana analiza multimodalna, ponieważ wiarygodne badanie przekazów telewizyjnych jest możliwe jedynie z uwzględnieniem zarówno każdego z ich audiowizualnych elementów, jak i wzajemnych relacji między nimi. Przedstawiany i analizowany temat dotyczy propozycji kupna Grenlandii, wystosowanej przez prezydenta USA, Donalda Trumpa, w czasie jego pierwszej oraz drugiej kadencji, które (ze względu na mającą miejsce pomiędzy nimi prezydenturę Josepha Bidena) dzieli 5 lat. Temat poruszony w 2019 roku, w 2025 roku znów staje się aktualny. W artykule zaznaczone są widoczne w tym przedziale czasowym różnice, które dotyczą sposobu medialnej prezentacji tematu, w tym przekazu wartości, konstruowanego w USA i Szwecji
Rola języka w teologicznym kontekście powieści Inner Circle Jerzego Peterkiewicza
Full text linkThe article attempts to analyse selected aspects of the novel Inner Circle by a lesser-known Polish émigré writer Jerzy Peterkiewicz in order to argue that the author presents in his work a highly sacramental and liturgical view of language. For this purpose, the article also engages with a number of critical standpoints on the relationship between language and theology. The key narrative elements analysed include the structure, the creation of characters, the role of language and performance of the body, elements of the plot and references to the Christian theological tradition. Artykuł stanowi próbę analizy wybranych aspektów powieści Inner Circle autorstwa mniej znanego polskiego pisarza emigracyjnego Jerzego Peterkiewicza, aby wykazać, że autor przedstawia w swojej pracy wysoce sakramentalne i liturgiczne podejście do języka. W tym celu artykuł odnosi się również do szeregu krytycznych stanowisk dotyczących relacji między językiem a teologią. Kluczowe analizowane elementy narracji obejmują strukturę, kreację postaci, rolę języka i ekspresji ciała, elementy fabuły oraz odniesienia do chrześcijańskiej tradycji teologicznej. 
POLAND'S ECONOMIC SITUATION AND THE FINANCIAL RESULT OF FOUNDATIONS - A CASE STUDY
Full text linkPurpose: An analysis of the impact of the environment on the functioning of foundations in Poland in the years 2020-2023 reveals that foundations are strongly influenced by external factors such as economic, legal, social, and technological changes. These factors affect both increases and decreases in revenues and profits, reflecting economic volatility. In response to these challenges, foundations must constantly adapt their strategies to maintain financial stability and operational efficiency. The future of foundations in Poland is crucial, as it will require the ability to adapt, manage crises and be innovative.
Goal: The aim of this article is to present a case study of a selected foundation, and to identify strategies for effective adaptation to dynamically changing conditions.

Patent boxes, used by countries like the UK and Netherlands, offer reduced tax rates to stimulate R&D but face scrutiny from international bodies like the OECD, which promotes tighter regulations through initiatives like the BEPS Action Plan. Transfer pricing of patents remains contentious due to the difficulty of valuing intangible assets. The emergence of AI in innovation introduces further complexity as AI systems increasingly meet patent criteria, challenging current legal definitions that restrict inventorship to humans. High-profile cases like DABUS underscore the urgency of updating legal frameworks to address AI-generated inventions.
Additionally, AI is transforming how patents are evaluated and enforced, enhancing efficiency while raising ethical concerns around transparency and accountability. These developments affect income attribution, valuation, and regulatory compliance.In order to address these shifts, policymakers must clarify inventorship laws, develop global standards, reform tax guidelines, ensure AI transparency, and empower regulatory agencies with AI tools. As AI reshapes innovation, the intersection of patent law and taxation must evolve to ensure fairness and effectiveness in this new landscape. Governments face significant challenges in addressing transfer pricing for AI-generated assets, particularly due to the risk of profit shifting by multinational companies to low-tax jurisdictions. To counter these issues, reforms are being proposed, including modernizing intellectual property tax rules to reflect the role of non-human creators and strengthening transparency requirements across AI-driven value chains
