Cultural Relativism and Plurality of Cultures as a Principal of Multicultural Education
Get PDFKulturní relativismus a pluralita kultur jako princip multikulturní výchovy. – Text se zaměřuje na konstatování, že kulturní rozmanitost a kulturní diference nejsou samy o sobě zdrojem konfliktů, ty jsou vyvolány nadřazeným přístupem, nepochopením a netolerancí jejich nositelů. Příspěvek dále charakterizuje strategie, základní postoje a přístupy k odlišným kulturám vzniklé z reakce na kulturní rozmanitost a odlišné kulturní projevy. Především se jedná o různě odstupňovaný etnocentrismus a kulturní relativismus, které jsou v příspěvku podrobněji teoreticky popsány. Pozornost je věnována také evropocentrismu jako specifickému projevu etnocentrismu. Závěrem text vyzdvihuje význam kulturního relativismu a kulturního pluralismu jako klíčových principů multikulturní výchovy.Cultural Relativism and Plurality of Cultures as a Principal of Multicultural Education. – The text focuses on a statement that cultural diversity and cultural differences are not the source of conflicts by themselves. These conflicts are caused by superior approach, misunderstanding and intolerance of their bearers. The contribution further characterizes strategies, fundamental attitudes and approaches towards different cultures that arise from reactions to cultural diversity and different cultural manifestations. Foremost this concerns various graduated ethnocentrism and cultural relativism, both are more theoretically described in the contribution. Attention is also devoted to Euro-centrism as a specific manifestation of ethnocentrism. The conclusion accentuates the importance of cultural relativism and cultural pluralism as key principals in multicultural education

this year’s volume of the e-journal PAIDEIA is effected by an implementation of a new redaction system. This new system will bring benefits not only to editors but also to the users. This year’s volume will be abbreviated into two double-issues and testing of the new system will be continuous.
This year’s first double-issue brings a study by Lenka Novotná on Schopenhauer’s influence on R. Wagner, a text of David Heider on philosophical problems of the spontaneous cognition, a study by Lada Furmaníková on inner world of man, an essay by Barbora Drobíková on hermeneutics and s few conference papers: a contribution by Radomír Havlík was delivered during workshops on multiculturality at the Faculty of Education of Charles University in Prague on 24.–25. 11. 2005. For an international conference The Violence in Education, Art and Sport which also took place at the Faculty of Education of Charles University in Prague on 4. May 2006 were prepared contributions by Scott Fleming, Barbara Turlejska, and Jana Šindelová. This issue is concluded by a book review by Jan Hábl (M. J. Jsou identifikovány hlavní koncepční problémy vzdělávacího přenosu znalostí, které jsou ovlivněny komunikačním potenciálem (obecně akceptovaného) významu a potenciálem jedince vytvářet si vlastní předkonceptuální znalosti.Philosophical Problems of the Spontaneous Cognition and the Cognition of the Common Knowledge in Context of Shaping of the Epistemical Identity. – The topic is handled by three points of view determined by three important philosophical theories: Husserl’s phenomenology, Gadamer’s hermeneutics and the philosophy of Martin Buber and Emanuel Lévinas. "Black skin – it\u27s cheaper than rubber boots." Representations of colonialism in the travelogues of Jiří Hanzelka and Miroslav Zikmund
Get PDFStudie pojednává o reprezentacích kolonialismu v cestopisech Jiřího Hanzelky a Miroslava Zikmunda. Důvodem pro její sepsání bylo především specifické postavení Československa v rámci poválečného koloniálního diskurzu a fakt, že i když jde o velmi slavnou dvojici československých cestovatelů, takováto analýza jejich cestopisů ještě nebyla provedena. Studie si klade za cíl zodpovědět hlavně otázku, jak Hanzelka se Zikmundem kolonialismus reprezentovali a co tyto reprezentace vypovídají o nich samých a o prostředí, ze kterého do světa vyjeli. Tyto reprezentace jsou převážně spojeny s kritikou kapitalismu a jsou využívány pro vyzdvižení kvalit režimu socialistického a vytyčení rozdílů mezi světem tzv. „západu“ a světem východním. Označení „Západ“ dnes většinou nese vžitý význam něčeho pokrokového, zde se ale objevují zcela opačné tendence, což vytváří zajímavý rozdíl oproti tomu, jak autoři prezentovali sebe mimo své cestopisy, a co je zaznamenáno v jejich dílech. Popularita těchto autorů je totiž v současné historické paměti spojená mimo jiné s jejich protikomunistickými postoji a následnou perzekucí (například zákaz publikovat v pozdějších letech). Studie se zároveň zabývá problematikou uplatnitelnosti konceptu orientalismu v případě států, které nebyly přímými účastníky koloniální expanze.The study deals with representations of colonialism in the travelogues by Jiří Hanzelka and Miroslav Zikmund. The main reason behind writing the text is the specific position of Czechoslovakia within the post-war colonial discourse and the fact that although Hanzelka a Zikmund are a famous pair of Czechoslovak travellers, such an analysis of their travelogues has not yet been carried out. The study aims to answer the question of how Hanzelka and Zikmund represented colonialism in their texts and what these representations say about them and the social environment from which they set out into the world. These representations are mostly associated with criticism of capitalism and were deployed to highlight the positive qualities of socialist regimes and to delineate the differences between the world of the so-called West and the world of the East. Today the label \u27West\u27 usually carries rather historically progressive connotations but Hanzelka and Zikmund tend to present quite the opposite, which creates an interesting difference between how they presented themselves outside their travelogues and what is recorded in their work. Indeed, the popularity of these authors in contemporary historical memory is linked, among other things, with their anti-communist attitudes and subsequent persecution (for example, the ban on publishing in their later years). The study also addresses the issue of the applicability of the concept of Orientalism to societies that were not direct participants in expansive colonial ventures

Differentiation of the Learning Task as a Principle for Developing an Inclusive Approach to Pupils in Primary Education
No full textVýzkum se zaměřuje na aktuální trend zvyšování kvality vzdělávání, který přináší zvýšené nároky na kompetence učitele při zavádění diferencované výuky u žáků primárního stupně, a to od samého počátku školní docházky. Při výuce matematiky se učitelé setkávají s nejrůznějšími postoji žáků k řešení zadávaných úloh a způsoby osvojování si nových vědomostí a dovedností. Nicméně, mnozí učitelé k tomu nejsou dostatečně připraveni a relevantní odbornéliteratury a výzkumných šetření, které by jim v praxi pomohly, je velmi málo. Záměrem výzkumné studie je analýza pedagogických prostředků diferenciace učebního úkolu a analýza aspektů rozsahu, obsahu, obtížnosti a časového hlediska zadávaných úkolů v předmětu matematika u žáků primárního stupně základní školy, s ohledem na Bloomovu taxonomii vzdělávacích cílů. Na několika případových studiích učitelů z Pardubického, Hradeckého a Středočeského kraje představujeme, na základě příkladů dobré praxe, jaké aspekty diferenciace učebního úkolu v předmětu matematika a geometrie učitelé využívají v heterogenních kolektivech žáků.The research focuses on the current trend of increasing the quality of education, which brings increased demands on teacher competencies when introducing differentiated instruction for primary school students from the very beginning of their schooling. When teaching mathematics, teachers encounter a variety of pupils‘ attitudes towards solving tasks and ways of acquiring new knowledge and skills. However, many teachers are not adequatelyprepared to do this and there is very little relevant literature and research investigations to help them in practice. The purpose of this research study is to analyze the pedagogical means of differentiating the learning task and to analyze the aspects of the scope, content, diffi culty and timing of the tasks assigned in the subject of mathematics for primary school students. Taking into account Bloom‘s taxonomy of educational objectives. Using several case studies of teachers from the Pardubice, Hradec Králové and Central Bohemia regions, we present good practice examples of the aspects of differentiation of the learning task in the subject of mathematics and geometry used by teachers in heterogeneous groups of pupils

Zaměřuje se na inkluzivní vzdělávání v hlavním vzdělávacím proudu a přináší výzkumné studie, teoretické analýzy a příklady dobré praxe, které zkoumají výzvy a řešení v oblasti podpory dětí, žáků a studentů se speciálními potřebami, jejich rodičů a učitelů. Mezi publikované studie patří výzkumy z různých úrovní vzdělávacího systému, od neúspěšnosti dospívajících dívek v ústavní výchově až po vliv učitelů na výběr vysoké školy. Číslo uzavírá diskuzní příspěvek o hodnotách inkluze, které analyzuje její pozitivní a negativní aspekty.This first issue of the journal Literacy, Pre-literacy, and Education for 2023 offers insights into current issues related to literacy in the context of education. It focuses on inclusive education in the mainstream education system and presents research studies, theoretical analyses, and examples of good practice that examine the challenges and solutions related to supporting children, students, and learners with special needs, as well as their parents and teachers. The published studies include research from various levels of the education system, ranging from the underachievement of adolescent girls in institutional care to the influence of teachers on university choice.
