On Central European Constructs of Central Europe, or, Where Lies the Centre?
No full textThis contribution traces the international (Schorske, Magris, Johnston etc.) and Central European (Kosík, Wandycz, Konrad, Szücs, Kiš, Kundera and others) debates on Central Europe that arose during the 1960s in particular. These were concerned not only with the Central European cultural and artistic heritage, but also with the cultural and political identity of the individual European Nations. Cybersecurity as a part of digital literace: How schools can create a supportive and secure environment from the perspective od cybersecurity
No full textČlánek se zaměřuje na strategie, které mohou školy využít k posílení kyberbezpečnosti a podpory digitální gramotnosti. V současném rychle se vyvíjejícím digitálním světě je nezbytné, aby vzdělávací instituce učinily kroky k zajištění bezpečného prostředí pro své studenty, zároveň jim poskytly dovednosti potřebné k navigaci v digitálním světě. Tento článek prozkoumává klíčové aspekty potřebné pro úspěšnou integraci kyberbezpečnosti do školního prostředí. Jedním z hlavních bodů je vývoj a implementace bezpečnostních politik. Článek zkoumá, jak mohou školy vytvářet a uplatňovat politiky, které sníží riziko, že se studenti setkají s online hrozbami, zatímco podporují bezpečné využívání technologií pro vzdělávací účely. Zahrnuje to nejen technické aspekty, jako jsou firewally a antivirové programy, ale také administrativní a organizační opatření, jako jsou pravidla pro používání internetu a sociálních médií. Zvláštní důraz je kladen na multidisciplinární přístup. Tento přístup uznává, že kyberbezpečnost není jen technickou záležitostí, ale zahrnuje i behaviorální a psychologické aspekty. Článek zkoumá, jak mohou různé disciplíny, od informatiky přes sociologii po psychologii, přispět k lepšímu pochopení a řešení kyberbezpečnostních výzev. Zahrnuje také diskusi o významu osvěty a vzdělávání učitelů v oblasti kyberbezpečnosti, což je zásadní pro vytváření bezpečného a podpůrného vzdělávacího prostředí.The article focuses on strategies that schools can utilize to enhance cybersecurity and support digital literacy. In today‘s rapidly evolving digital world, it is essential for educational institutions to take steps to ensure a safe environment for their students, while also providingthem with the skills necessary to navigate the digital world. This article examines the key aspects required for successful integration of cybersecurity into the school environment. One of the main points is the development and implementation of security policies. The article explores how schools can create and apply policies that mitigate the risk of students encountering online threats while supporting the safe use of technology for educational purposes. This includes not only technical aspects, such as firewalls and antivirus programs, but also administrative and organizational measures, such as rules for internet and social media use. Special emphasis is placed on a multidisciplinary approach. This approach recognizes that cybersecurity is not just a technical matter, but also includes behavioral and psychological aspects. The article investigates how various disciplines, from computer science to sociology and psychology, can contribute to a better understanding and resolution of cybersecurity challenges. It also includes a discussion on the importance of awareness and education of teachers in the field of cybersecurity, which is crucial for creating a safe and supportive educational environment
“You’re Down, We’re Up!”: Social and Ethnic Boundaries in Elementary School
Get PDFThe article explores the dynamics of social marginality and dominance in educational settings. Special attention is paid to the role of schools in the process of boundary constructions. The article deals with social distance dynamics among pupils in elementary school, and observes how these dynamics strengthen or weaken their position in the hierarchy. The text describes social interaction in a group of children, and records the context in which the inclusion or exclusion of those who are seen as the bearers of an identity other than the group dominant identity takes place, and whether it has the character of ethnic or social class. The article is based on long-term, qualitative, inductive, and ethnographic fieldwork. The central method of the fieldwork was ethnographic observation. To large degree, the research was conducted in the framework of interactionism. The article sheds light on many aspects of social exclusion in educational settings and on the obstacles of educational research

Alternative Approaches to the Study of Territorial Identities of Inhabitants: The Degree of Local Consciousness Based upon the Analysis of the Profiles of Social Network Users
Get PDFLocal consciousness represents the attachment of inhabitants to the smallest regional units (municipality, city district, neighbourhood, etc.); the concept of local consciousness thus falls under the broader concept of regional consciousness. From the viewpoint of social constructivism, regional consciousness is simultaneously both a source for regions and an output of regions; therefore, its scrutiny is an important component of the research on regional identities. Social network websites are an important channel of communication used by many individuals for the presentation of their personal identities, including their local identities. In this paper, the author analyses the degree of the local consciousness of the inhabitants of municipalities in Northern Slovakia, and does so on the basis of a conceptual analysis of the profiles of social network websites users. Based on the results of the analysis, the author explores the spatial disparities in the local consciousness of the inhabitants of Northern Slovakia, which is defined as the territory of the Zilina and Presov Regions. The article is therefore a demonstration of the utilisation of an alternative method of territorial consciousness research
