The Impact of LLM-Generated Disaster Explanations on the Perceived Reliability and Clarity of Crisis News.
In times of crisis, clear and trustworthy communication is crucia;. With the rise of Large Language Models (LLM) like ChatGPT, it is increasingly relevant to assess whether AI-generated explanations (rationales) for crisis-related news are perceived reliability and clarity of human- versus LLM-generated rationales of crisis tweets.
A total of 114 participants were randomly assigned to read either a human- or an LLM-generated rationale. They rated the clarity and reliability of the rationale they read. An indepent samples t-test revealed no significant differences in perceived reliability or clarity between the two conditions. Human-generated rationales (M - 13.7) and LLM-generated rationales (M = 14.1) were rated similarly, as were clarity scores (human: M = 9.9; LLM: M= 9.6).
A significant positive correlation (r = .63, p <.001) suggests that more reliable rationales were also perceived as clearer
Framing Migrants: How two middle-sized Dutch cities frame highly skilled and undocumented migrants in housing and employment policies, and how NGOs act within that policy space
This thesis examines how Dutch municipalities navigate the simultaneous presence of highly-skilled and undocumented migrants, and how this dual dynamic shapes housing and employment policy as well as NGO influence. It asks how these groups are framed in municipal policy, and what opportunities this creates for NGO policy engagement. Theoretically, this research draws on framing (and its ties to securitization, othering, and polarization), the Advocacy Coalition Framework, and scholarship on national-local migration governance, gentrification, brain gain and deskilling. Methodologically, it employs a qualitative embedded case study design combining discourse/framing analysis of municipal documents of the municipalities Eindhoven and Tilburg, along with interviews. Findings reveal a two-track approach: highly-skilled migrants are explicitly welcomed as knowledge-economy assets with reciprocal integration efforts, while support for undocumented migrants is more implicit and reciprocal, tied to future prospects and public order. This division extends across housing and employment, as municipalities fill national gaps and pragmatically coordinate, continuing parts of the LVV cooperation informally with NGOs. NGOs act as brokers and agenda-setters, but their leverage remains contingent on coalitions and national frameworks. Normatively, this research warns against dignity becoming conditional on utility and notes risks of human-capital loss. It shows how (re)framing structures urban outcomes and opens space for co-production, and recommends stronger municipal coordination, and NGO coalition-building and counter-framing.

Shaping attitudes towards mental illness: How type and source of a meme influence attitudes towards anxiety.
Enhancing Employee Satisfaction and Strengthening Workplace Relationships through Feedback Sharing: Employee Perspectives in Eldercare
As organizations move away from traditional annual performance reviews, alternative feedback mechanisms are gaining prominence. While feedback is typically aimed at improving performance, its role in enhancing employee satisfaction and workplace relationships remains underexplored. This study investigates what feedback-sharing characteristics employees in a medium-sized Dutch eldercare organization consider most effective for boosting satisfaction and strengthening relationships with colleagues and supervisors. Data were collected through a vignette-based survey and a supplemental interview with the works council.
Findings reveal a preference for frequent, informal, and constructive feedback over formal, rigid systems. Employees value real-time responses, engaged supervisors, and a psychologically safe environment that promotes open dialogue and curbs workplace gossip. Opinions on mandatory feedback are mixed—some appreciate its inclusivity, while others favor voluntary participation. Anonymous feedback is generally rejected due to associations with distrust and miscommunication. Supervisor visibility and approachability are seen as vital to improving relationships and satisfaction.
The results offer practical insights for the organization and others in the eldercare sector aiming to enhance feedback practices. A supportive, inclusive feedback culture where employees feel heard and respected is essential not only for satisfaction, but also for overall workplace harmony. This study highlights the social dimensions of feedback beyond performance improvement
Listening to the spiritual? A case-study and descriptive analysis of contemplative listening in practice as a method of spiritual care
This thesis has as its main research question: To what extent and under what conditions does listening, in the case of contemplative listening, contribute to the clarification of spirituality? Presently, formulation of clear descriptions of unique spiritual care interventions is lacking in both the study of spiritual care and its profession. What, for example, qualifies listening as a spiritual intervention? This thesis is an empirical descriptive analysis in the form of a case-study that analyzes seven recorded and transcribed contemplative listening sessions. It does so through both a theoretical framework of listening and listening skills, and of spiritual themes and spiritual perspectives. It analyzes the listening skills used in these sessions by the listener, the spiritual themes spoken about by the speaker/respondent, and from what spiritual perspectives – and their relation. Contemplative listening was found to – under certain conditions and by using particular listening skills – contribute to the explication of spirituality
" Defining sustainability as an obstacle and first step A comparative discourse analysis of interpretations of sustainability across academic disciplines in higher education"
To achieve effective sustainability education, the primary challenges of defining and contest surrounding sustainability has to be addressed. This research examines how varying interpretations of sustainability are presented across academic disciplines at the Radboud University and how they affect curricula and sustainability education. For the research a discourse analysis is conducted through coding that utilises Dobson’s (1996) framework on sustainability perceptions and Snow & Benford's (1988) theory on framing. By conducting this analysis, an overview of the comprehensiveness and its effect on curricula is obtained. Simultaneously the challenge of defining sustainability and the obstacle of contest surrounding the term sustainability is addressed.
This research indicates that half of the faculties provide comprehensive sustainability education and one half not. With the interpretation of sustainability as an environmental issue with a focus on anthropocentric interest being predominantly presented in the education across all bachelor programs and faculties. This research also concludes that the Radboud University’s sustainability education is, besides rather limited in the comprehensiveness, also limited in the amount of sustainability education provided. The limited sustainability education that is provided, is for the majority compulsory. Through this examination of the curricula, challenges and opportunities are identified for improving the sustainability education
