Verbonden tegen vervalsing. Een onderzoek naar de effectiviteit van netwerksamenwerking ter bestrijding van zorgfraude

    No full text

Elderly Care Under Pressure: Exploring Strategic Decision-Making in Interprofessional Collaboration

    No full text
In primary care, both allied health professionals and generalists play essential roles in addressing the complex needs of older adults. Since age-related problems are often complex and overlapping, older adults frequently require support from both groups. However, structured collaboration between allied health and generalist professionals remains limited and little is known about their interactions in interprofessional collaboration. Earlier research identified (in)effective actions professionals take in such situations, however, it remains unclear how these actions are selected in response to others’ behavior in strategic interactions. This study examines how the strategic actions of generalists and allied health professionals are associated with the behavior of the other professional. Using a cross-sectional vignette-based design, informed by game theory models, data were collected from healthcare professionals. The findings show that professionals often prefer information sharing and compromise, with the behavior of the other professional significantly associated with the actions chosen. Gender and profession were significant predictors of (in)effective interprofessional actions, with female professionals and occupational therapists showing higher likelihoods of effective actions. The aim of the study is to improve understanding of the strategic decisions professionals make in interaction with one another during interprofessional collaboration

Between Digital Lifelines and Structural Barriers: Filipina Migrants’ Social Networks and Socioeconomic Integration in the Netherlands.

    No full text
This study examines how Filipina migrants in the Netherlands, across varying legal statuses and digital literacy levels, navigate digital tools and social media platforms to access employment opportunities. The research applies an intersectional framework grounded in digital inequality, legal precarity, and gendered labor, drawn from 20 semi-structured interviews with migrant women and institutional representatives. Thematic analysis reveals that while platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp play a central role in job searching and informal economic participation, unfamiliarity with institutional digital literacy programs, language barriers, and structural conditions (i.e., Dutch Linking Act) that reinforce legal and information precarity hinder access to formal services. Institutional digital literacy programs do not align with the lived realities of migrant women. The study finds that both digital resilience tactics and information precarity shape these women’s experiences. It concludes by highlighting the need for culturally responsive, legally inclusive digital literacy programs that address migrants’ specific socioeconomic challenges in highly digitalized societies like the Netherlands

Agenda setting in roerige tijden. Een onderzoek naar de mogelijkheid grotere invloed van de media agenda op de politieke agenda tijdens key events

    No full text

Sustainability at stake: navigating stakeholder influence in non-listed SMEs

    No full text
This study examines how stakeholder salience within a TH collaboration affects SR by non-listed SMEs in the Netherlands. Building on stakeholder salience theory, it explores how power, legitimacy, urgency, and proximity shape the influence of universities, industry, and governments on SR practices. Based on semi-structured interviews with eight non-listed SMEs involved in the Lifeport@InnovatieHub Circulair, the findings show that governments are the most salient stakeholders due to regulatory authority and financial support, followed by industry actors who influence SR through peer exchange and operational relevance. Universities contribute legitimacy and knowledge but have less direct impact. Power and urgency are the most decisive attributes shaping SR adoption. While SR adoption varies, most SMEs recognise its strategic relevance and engage based on a combination of intrinsic motivation and stakeholder expectations. This study contributes to theory by demonstrating how stakeholder salience operates in collaborative settings and highlights how a TH collaboration supports SMEs in managing SR barriers. This study offers societal value by informing targeted policy and supporting non-listed SMEs in aligning with future regulatio

Discovering characteristics of the paradoxical thinking capability

    No full text
In today’s environment, organiza?ons face recurring tensions on a daily basis. While some organiza?ons find it difficult to manage these tensions, others seem to navigate them successfully. This study aims to explore how some organiza?ons can balance these tensions, by using four key capabili?es also referred to as building blocks: technical systems, skills and knowledge, managerial systems, and norms and values. Together, they form what is called paradoxical thinking. Paradoxical thinking is the ability to accept, embrace and be energized by contradic?ng demands. This cogni?ve capability allows for “both/and” thinking instead of “either/or”. This study aims to opera?onalize the four building blocks, by empirically analyzing each of them. In this research twelve semi-structured interviews were conducted across five organiza?ons. Through this mul?ple case study, data reveals that paradoxical thinking is not a sta?c trait but a dynamic capability that follows a pa^ern of sensing, seizing, and reconfiguring. The findings show how each building block is enacted in prac?ce and highlight the central role of norms and values, which is the underlying mechanism connec?ng all building blocks. Key enablers include decision-making structures, training programs, reflec?on prac?ces, knowledge sharing and storing, and a psychological safe environment

Cultural Dimensions and Digital Engagement: Masculinity and Femininity in Samsung’s Instagram Captions in Japan and the Netherlands.

    No full text
In today’s interconnected world, social media platforms like Instagram have become powerful tools for global communication, branding, and cultural expression. This study explores how cultural values shape digital marketing content and consumer engagement by analyzing Samsung’s Instagram captions in Japan and the Netherlands; two countries that strongly differ on Hofstede’s masculinity/femininity dimension. A comparative content analysis of 39 Instagram captions revealed that Japanese posts predominantly reflected masculine values, while Dutch posts aligned with feminine values. However, quantitative analysis showed no statistically significant differences in likes or comments based on cultural style. These findings suggest that although Samsung’s captions align with local cultural norms, this does not consistently result in higher engagement. This study contributes to cross-cultural communication and digital marketing research by highlighting how global brands navigate cultural adaptation on social media

Becoming German Abroad - How Volunteer Tourism Shapes National Identity

    No full text
Volunteer tourism is growing in popularity and is increasingly discussed in academic research. The practice is known to benefit the volunteers as it offers them room for personal development. However, scholarly work has not yet examined how national identity is shaped, influenced, and questioned in that context. Thus, based on travel narratives of volunteers participating in the German government-funded weltwärts program, this paper critically analyzes how Germanness emerges as a discursive position. Focusing on the volunteers' self-described behavior, their writing styles, narratives of the host culture, the emotional undertone, shared visual content, and their reflection on their identity, this research shows how these aspects construct one's identification with one’s nation of origin. It highlights that volunteering abroad offers unique moments to experience what it means to be German and how individual characteristics and global power dynamics shape Germanness. The setting stimulates a reinforcement, contestation, and reflection on national identity, drawing attention to aspects attributed to Germanness that would otherwise remain obscured at home. These experiences reveal that national identity is not static but fluid, being continuously negotiated and performed. The volunteers’ different reflections and stories highlight how identities are multilayered, interacting with each other. Ultimately, this research demonstrates how volunteer tourism can reproduce underlying postcolonial power dynamics, positioning the volunteer of moral superiority while at the same time engaging the tourists in critical reflection on their behavior and position, fostering personal growth

The Scientific Approach to Pivoting A Qualitative Study Identifying Factors Influencing Its Adoption in Startups

    No full text
This study examines the role of factors that influence the adoption of the scientific approach to pivoting. This scientific approach to pivoting refers to a structured, evidence-based method for strategic decision-making. Prior studies have highlighted the effectiveness of this approach, but empirical understanding of factors that influence its adoption remains lacking. Therefore, the question: “What factors influence the extent to which startups adopt a scientific approach to pivoting?” is formulated to guide this research. This research question is answered by a qualitative research design, involving 28 semi-structured interviews with key decision-makers of startups that have executed a pivot. The analysis of the interviews revealed six factors influencing the adoption of the scientific approach to pivoting: theoretical expertise, entrepreneurial experience, team capacity, resource availability, client pressure, and investor pressure. Additionally, this study revealed that the startup stage is an important antecedent, influencing the factors: team capacity, resource availability, client pressure, and investor pressure. This study contributes to the extant literature by offering a more comprehensive understanding of the adoption process, complementing prior work that mainly focused on the outcome of the scientific approach to pivoting. It also offers practical implications for startup entrepreneurs, incubators, and investors. The identification of these factors enables practitioners to create conditions that stimulate the adoption of the scientific approach to pivoting

Understanding Online Health Information: Effects of text difficulty and influence of cognitive load and digital health literacy on online information processing.

    No full text
In the digital era, individuals increasingly consult online health information, yet text complexity may impede effective processing. This study investigates the impact of text difficulty on information recall, considering cognitive load as a mediator and (digital) health literacy as a potential moderator. A between-subjects experiment (N = 72) exposed participants to either an easy or a difficult health text, after which recall was assessed. (Digital) health literacy was measured with the Digital Health Literacy Instrument (DHLI) and the Short Assessment of Health Literacy (SAHL). Cognitive load was assessed through self-report and heatmapping. Results indicate that participants reading the easy text demonstrated better recall. For open-ended recall, germane cognitive load mediated this effect, suggesting more efficient allocation of cognitive resources to message elaboration. No moderating role of (digital) health literacy was found. Heatmap analyses revealed that perceived text difficulty shifted with condition: easy texts complicated general content, whereas difficult texts complicated detailed medical information
