    No full text
This research examines the framing of the Rohingya crisis in Indonesia and Malaysia through A Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) of two online newspaper stories, one from every country. The study uses appraisal theory to examine the attitudinal resources (emotion, judgement, and appreciation) employed in the articles in order to better understand how they may change public perceptions of the Rohingya. The analysis shows significant differences in how the crisis is portrayed by the two media outlets. The Indonesian article takes a positive and humanitarian stance, emphasizing Indonesia\u27s commitment to global refugee protection and expressing concern for the well-being of Rohingya refugees. In contrast, the Malaysian article represents a shift towards a restrictive and nationalistic approach, highlighting concerns about national interests and depicting the Rohingya as a potential threat. Although the articles acknowledge the shared challenges faced by refugees, they also expose the complexity of regional responses to the Rohingya crisis and the divergent perspectives adopted by Indonesia and Malaysia. This study contributes to the understanding of how media discourse shape’s public opinion and influences ideological perspectives on international events

    No full text
The implementation of the 2013 curriculum requires students to be creative, innovative, and fast and responsive. The implementation of the 2013 curriculum brings a new method of learning, namely the Semester Credit System (SKS) in high schools. Learning using SKS is one innovative alternative to improving the quality of learning. This SKS program provides varied learning and flexible learning time management adjusted to the learning load according to the learning speed of students. This research method was carried out by filling out a questionnaire by SKS students, which aims to obtain a comprehensive picture of the symbolic interaction of students in Cirebon. The subject of this study was only one person because the researcher had difficulty getting relations from SKS high school students, who had graduated. The implementation of SKS can have an impact on interactions between students. This is due to the difference in the system between SKS classes and regular classes. In SKS classes, students must be accustomed to fast and dense learning so that the time used to interact with other friends is less. The results obtained show that SKS class teaching can help students advance and consider every step they take. Even the existence of SKS classes does not make students individualistic, but rather individuals who are easy to get along with and enjoy working together

    No full text
In handling cases involving minors in narcotics crimes, the juvenile justice system operates differently compared to the adult justice system. Juvenile courts take drug offenses seriously and often refer children to juvenile delinquency courts with different procedures. Handling of juvenile cases can be done through diversion programs to treat factors that contribute to drug use and avoid criminal records. Juvenile courts tend to be rehabilitative, with consequences such as diversion or completion of a drug treatment program. Serious juvenile cases can result in harsh penalties, including incarceration in a juvenile facility. Serious juvenile cases may be transferred to adult court depending on applicable law. Special protection is given to children involved in drug trafficking. The application of restorative justice to juvenile offenders has been the subject of extensive research, emphasizing the importance of restoration over retribution. It is important to consider the welfare and developmental needs of the offending youth. Restorative justice is also important in dealing with narcotics crimes by juvenile offenders. In this journal, the research method used is normative legal research with the support of sociological or empirical research aspects. Secondary data from library research is used as a source of information, including expert opinions and formal data through official documents. The data analysis process used the content analysis method and was interpreted by the author himself, the results found that the application of Diversion and Restorative Justice in the Juvenile Criminal Justice System aims to provide an alternative resolution of criminal cases involving children, with a focus on recovery, responsibility and better justice. . Even though implementation has proceeded according to established standards, there are still obstacles such as difficulties in achieving a balance of interests, non-compliance with guidelines, feelings of aggrieved victims, and attempts by the formal justice system to take over the concept of restorative justice. To overcome these obstacles, it is important to strengthen the legal foundation, cultural structure, and involve related parties directly so that the Restorative Justice process can run effectively and fairly for all parties involved. These steps will help ensure better protection and justice for children involved in criminal cases, as well as have a positive impact on their future and development
