ULTRA-SOM TERAPÊUTICO NA REGENERAÇÃO NERVOSA – REVISÃO SISTEMÁTICA E METANÁLISE
Objetivou-se através deste estudo avaliar e comparar os efeitos do ultra-som terapêutico (UST) nas modalidades pulsada e contínua na regeneração nervosa e estabelecer um parâmetro de dosimetria do aparelho para sua utilização através de uma revisão sistemática e metanálise. Foram realizadas pesquisas nos bancos de dados BIREME, CAPES, PEDro e MEDLINE, além de buscas manuais nas referências de estudos publicados sobre o assunto, entre o período de julho de 2016 a fevereiro de 2017. Os estudos foram analisados e selecionados de acordo com critérios de elegibilidade, onde foram incluídos apenas aqueles que realizaram indução do dano em nervos periféricos, submetidos a tratamento com UST contínuo ou pulsado e que apresentaram grupo controle. Foram avaliados o índice funcional do nervo ciático (IFC) e análise morfométrica. Dos 1.877 estudos encontrados, nove foram incluídos na revisão sistemática e três na metanálise sobre o IFC. A metanálise demonstrou que, as modalidades contínua e pulsada, comparadas ao grupo controle não apresentaram diferença significativa (p≥0,05) para os tempos 0, 7 e 14 dias, entretanto, apresentaram diferença significativa (p≤0,05) aos 21 dias. A análise morfométrica evidenciou que o UST produz efeitos positivos no processo de regeneração nervosa, demonstrando correlação entre a regeneração morfológica e a recuperação funcional. Conclui-se que o UST possui efeitos positivos na regeneração nervosa quando comparados aos grupos controle principalmente quando aplicado na modalidade contínua (f=3MHz e i=1W/cm²), devido aos seus efeitos térmicos, porém, não sendo descartados seus efeitos na modalidade pulsada quando aplicado em baixas intensidades (f=1MHz e i=0,4W/cm²)
DEVELOPMENT OF COMPETENCES FOR HEALTH CARE OF THE ELDERLY: THE PERSPECTIVE OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
Purpose: It is a qualitative research whose objective was to know what the university students from health courses think about the senescence and attention to the health of the elderly. Methods: Students responded to an online questionnaire that contained closed and open questions about aging and elder care. For this study, two open questions were analyzed that aimed to identify what the students understood about the skills learned in their training to deal with this population. A total of 236 students enrolled in health courses at a private university participated and the data were analyzed in the light of the Content Analysis, followed by the saturation of responses criteria. Results: Two categories "Learning and knowledge" and "Training and aptitude for work with the elderly" were found. According to the participants the disciplines on aging emphasize the physiological changes of the process and the aspects related to the diseases of the old age. Health care practices with older people in the stages are few and not all students have this direct experience with this audience. Conclusion: Faced with the accelerated process of population aging in the country, it is necessary to invest in a training that guarantees the necessary skills to deal with the elderly in the different situations, which points to the need to increase practical experiences and internships with the elderly
EVALUATION OF THE COMBINATION OF MENADIONA AND VITAMIN C ON Leishmania amazonensis
Purpose: Menadione (MEN) is a naphthoquinone also called vitamin k3, which has been demonstrated a synergistic effect with Vitamin C (VC) against all evolutionary forms of the Trypanosoma cruzi parasite. The objective of this study was evaluate in vitro the effect of combination of MEN and VC on promastigotes of Leishmania amazonensis and on cytotoxicity and hemolysis. Methods: For evaluation of the combination on promastigote forms, the concentration that inhibit 50% of parasites (IC50) for both compounds were determined at 24 hours by counting in Neubauer chambre and the combination assay was carried out to obtain the Combination Index using the CompuSyn software. Cytotoxic cells were determined from 50% of cells (CC50) and hemolytic from 50% of erythrocytes (CH50). Results: MEN and VC presented IC50 values of 1.4 μM and 85.0 μM, respectively, in the evaluated period. In addition, the MEN-VC combination showed a synergistic effect over the same period, with a Combination Index of 0.64, 0.39 and 0.23 for fractions affecting 50%, 75% and 90% of the parasites. The separated compounds showed CC50 values of 0.043 μM for MEN and 7502 μM for CV and CH50 values of 0.0066 μM for ANF B, 74.15 μM for MEN and 0.82 for CV μM. Conclusion: There was synergism in the combination of the compound tested on the promastigote forms of the parasite. As a continuation of this work will be determined the IC50 and the Combination Index on the amastigote forms
CITOTOXIC POTENTIAL OF ESSENTIAL OIL FROM GABIROBEIRA LEAVES ON DIFFERENT TUMOR CELL LINES
Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the possible cytotoxic activity of the essential oil of the Campomanesia adamantium leaves on normal and tumoral human cells by colorimetric cell viability assay, based on the use of tetrazolium salt (XTT). Methods: To achieve the cytotoxicity it was used normal human lung fibroblast cell line GMO7492A and the evaluation of antiproliferative activity was performed on three tumor cell lines, as follows: human glioblastoma (MO59J), human cervical adenocarcinoma (HeLa) and human breast adenocarcinoma (MCF-7). For the determination of cytotoxic concentration to the normal line, 12 concentrations were evaluated being from 2.44 to 5000 µg/mL. In the evaluation of antiproliferative activity were tested 8 different concentrations of the extract (3.91 to 500 µg/mL). Results: The results in the normal line GM07492A showed inhibitory concentration of 50% (IC50) of 369.8±15.3 µg/mL. In the evaluation of antiproliferative activity on tumor cell lines MO59J, HeLa and MCF-7 were observed IC50 of 79.9±7.8, 80.5±8.8 and 77.2±8.1, respectively. The results from the evaluation of the antiproliferative activity in different tumor cell lines of C. adamantium oils were selective for the tested tumor cell types. Conclusion: Campomanesia adamantium oil did not show cytotoxic activity in concentrations lower or equal to 312.5 µg/mL to the normal cell line. Besides that, the values found to IC50 for tumor cells showed selectivity around 4.6, concluding that the oil has selectivity for tumor cells tested
EVALUATION OF PLATELET INDICES IN DIABETIC PATIENTS
Purpose: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a clinical condition of multiple etiology, resulting to the lack insulin and/or its disability to properly exert its effects, affecting 350 million people worldwide. In type 2 DM, vascular complications have been the main cause of death in diabetics with higher platelet indexes (MPV, PDW and PCT) when compared to non-diabetic patients. Recent studies have reported increased free radical formation in DM by accelerating lipid peroxidation and reducing antioxidant levels, in particular glutathione (GSH), developing oxidative stress. Thus the objective of this study was to correlate platelet indices and GSH levels in patients with DM compared to the control group (without). Methods: Participated in the project 100 patients with DM and 100 patients control. Platelet indices were evaluated using the BC-3200® automatic counter (Mindray®). Blood concentrations of GSH were determined through addition of 5,5-dithiobis-2-nitrobenzoic acid (DTNB), which reacted with free thiols to form 2-nitro-5-thiobenzoic acid, composed yellow coloring, and reading held in microplate reader (Asys UVM340®), at the wavelength of 412 nm. Results: When compared with DM and control groups, serum glucose values were significantly different (p = 0.001). The values of platelets, VPM, PDW and PCT didn’t present significant differences between groups (p <0.05). There was also no significant difference between the GSH levels studied groups (p <0.05). Conclusion: Although the scientific studies report the reduction of GSH levels in diabetic patients, our study didn’t observe this alteration, just as the platelet index didn’t reflect vascular complications in diabetic patients
THE BRAZILIAN LANGUAGE INTERPRETER: A JOB MARKET AND CAREER PROFILE ANALYSIS
Objective: This research aims to evidence the career profile of Brazilian language and sign interpreters through a quantitative-qualitative survey, as well as the French Discourse Analysis to deflagrate their speech and opinions concerning the current job market and its working conditions. Methods: We expect to compose our work, with a bibliographical approach, based on well-known authors – WYLER, 2003; PAGURA, 2003 E 2010; LUIZ & CASSEMIRO, 2015; BENEDETTI & SOBRAL, 2004; MAGAHAES JR, 2007; CORACINI, 2013 – who discuss the translator and interpreting career; In addition of a quantitative and qualitative research applied to a questionnaire given to Brazilian active interpreters who participate in the biggest translator and interpreter Facebook group. Expected Results: In face of the lack of studies concerning language interpretation, this paper expects to contemplate both, the national market and the Brazilian professional, in order to observe closely questions such as academic degree, acting time, practice area, language pairs, weekly working hours, affiliation to interpreting agencies etc
MASS REARING IN LABORATORY OF AVOCADO SEED MOTH Stenoma catenifer (Lepidoptera: Elachistidae)
Purpose: Stenoma catenifer (Lepidoptera: Elachistidae), avocado seed moth, is considered a key pest in avocado because of the direct damages caused to the fruits by the entrance of the larvae and the construction of galleries. Thus, the objective was to determine a methodology of laboratory rearing to obtain insects for research on it behavior, biology, ecology and mainly control. Methods: The beginning of the laboratory establishment was with insects collected in organic crop of avocado located in Franca, SP (20°32’19’’S 47°24’03’’W). The insects were taken to the Laboratory of Agricultural Entomology of Unifran and the material was screened to obtain the S. catenifer larvae. Results: The fruits containing larvae were packed in transparent plastic containers until the pupae were formed (36cm length, 25.5cm width and 12.5 height). The pupae were transferred to other transparent plastic containers (11cm length, 11cm width and 7.5cm height) containing a layer of vermiculite to fix the pupae. In the adult phase, couples were placed in mate and oviposition cages (14cm length, 14cm width and 22cm height), containing a fruit to stimulate oviposition (fixed in support) and two sponges under pet bottle caps to offer the diet (water and honey at 10%). The top of the cage was closed with voil fabric to promote aeration. Conclusion: The methodology used is suitable for mass rearing of avocado seed moth S. catenifer
ASPECTOS MORFOFISIOLÓGICOS E PRINCIPAIS ALTERAÇÕES RUMENAIS EM BOVINOS DE CORTE – REVISÃO DE LITERATURA
Tem-se como objetivo neste trabalho, realizar uma revisão sobre a anatomia e fisiologia dos pré-estômagos e estômago de bovinos, bem como descrever as principais alterações rumenais encontradas em bovinos abatidos em frigorífico. A crescente demanda na produção de bovinos de carne permitiu ao Brasil alcançar o segundo lugar no ranking mundial de bovinos mantidos em sistema de criação. Essa otimização foi possível graças ao desenvolvimento de dietas cada vez mais elaboradas e ricas em altos concentrados energéticos. Em contrapartida, estas dietas altamente especializadas no aumento da produção são capazes de gerar danos consideráveis aos tecidos rumenais, bem como efeitos deletérios sobre sua fisiologia. Nesse sentido, se faz necessário que o profissional seja detentor do conhecimento sobre a anatomia e fisiologia do estômago e pré-estômagos, como o rúmen, além das alterações passíveis de ocorrerem e serem observadas nessas estruturas anatômicas durante o abate
ARTERIAL VASCULARIZATION OF THE BRAIN BASE IN PACA (Cuniculus paca, Linnaeus 1766)
Purpose: The aim of this study was to describe the arteries of the ventral surface in paca’s brain due to the lack of anatomical scientific literature Methods: After euthanizing five adult pacas, the left common carotid artery of all animals was cannulated to Latex centrifuged 60% injection, which was stained in red. The animals were subsequently kept frozen at -20ºC for a week for latex polymerization. Next, they were thawed and fixed in 10% paraformaldehyde intramuscularly and stored in 30% saline solution. For brain removal an oscillating saw was used to realise the craniotomy. Results: On the current research, it was observed that the paca presents its vertebral arteries which divide themselves at the top site of the medulla oblongata and they get united to form the basilar artery, which is supported throughout all its extensión from the brain stem. Inside mesencephalon, the basilar artery distributes two branches denominated terminal branches of the terminal branch of the basilar artery. Both rostral cerebral artery and the middle cerebral artery were also identified on those animals. At the point of infundibulum, there’s the arrival of the internal carotid arteries and rostrally, the medial branch of the rostral cerebral artery. Side by side to this branch, there’s the emission of two middle cerebral arteries rostral to the pyriform lobe. Rostrally to the medial branch of the cerebral arteries lie the left and right rostral cerebral arteries. Conclusion: It’s concluded that the base of paca’s brain is vascularized by both carotid and vertebro-basilar systems
ANÁLISE DA ADAPTAÇÃO E ACEITABILIDADE DE UM PROTÓTIPO DE GUIDÃO ELÍPTICO
Estimativas indicam um aumento crescente de pessoas que utilizam a bicicleta como meio de transporte sendo que o uso contínuo pode gerar problemas neuro-músculo-esqueléticos, tanto em membros superiores quanto na coluna vertebral do usuário. O risco para possíveis lesões está associado com a posição que o ciclista assume na bicicleta e um dos principais elementos que interfere diretamente na posição do ciclista na bicicleta é o guidão. Foi desenvolvido um Guidão Elíptico (GE) com o objetivo de modificar a empunhadura da mão, antebraço e melhorar a postura do tronco, visando minimizar/eliminar lesões comuns aos ciclistas. Assim, o objetivo deste estudo é avaliar a adaptabilidade e aceitabilidade do ciclista durante a utilização do GE em uma bicicleta-passeio. Participaram deste estudo 10 pessoas que realizam um teste dinâmico que consistia em percorrer um circuito de 500 metros, uma vez com o Guidão Convencional (GC) e outra vez com o GE. Após os testes, os participantes responderam a um questionário autoaplicável elaborado pelos pesquisadores para verificar a adaptação e aceitabilidade do GE. As respostas ao questionário demonstraram que mais de 80% dos participantes se adaptaram ao GE e relataram grande aceitabilidade, representando mais de 90% da amostra. Apesar deste estudo ser preliminar, estes achados confirmam que o GE, além de ser um dispositivo diferente do GC e ter grande adaptação e aceitabilidade, torna-o um possível substituto do GC para a bicicleta-passeio, visando atrair os indivíduos para experimentarem os benefícios do uso da bicicleta, sem os riscos de lesões
