TECHNICAL VIABILITY OF THE APPLICATION OF THE SOLID RESIDUES GENERATED IN WATER TREATMENT STATIONS IN THE PRODUCTION OF ECOLOGICAL BRICKS
Purpose: The aim of this study is to evaluate the viability of the use of the sludge generated in the stations of treatment of water for the production of soil-cement ecological bricks. Methods: The sludge was collected in the Company of Basic Sanitation, which was exposed to the solar radiation daily so that occurs the dehydration and the present water was evaporated just resulting in solid residues. For the characterization of the material it will be accomplished: the analysis of the apparent density of the sludge; the measurement of the percentage of organic matter while it burns it in lab muffle at 440°C as recommended by NBR 13600 (ABNT 1996); and the determination of the granulometry of the sludge. The process of production of the brick consists of accomplishing the preparation of the mixture (cement/sludge) with base in the lines previously established (assisting specifications of NBR 8491) adding water until obtaining a homogeneous mixture. The molding of the block will be made in hydraulic presses and then reducing the number of emptiness. After the cure, with the concluded brick, the compression tests and absorption of water will be accomplished according to ABNT NBR 10836/94. Results: With the results obtained, new proportions will be tested in order to obtain the largest use of the constituent materials. Conclusion: Date will be analyzed and then we will look for to establish an appropriate trace for the ecological brick composed by sludge-cement
EVALUATION OF ATTITUDES RELATED TO FOOD CHOICE IN PATIENTS WITH EATING DISORDERS
Objective:investigating the association between attitudes related to the flavor of food and nutritional state. Methodology:cross-sectional, comparative, and quantitative clinical study. Subjects were separated into two groups of women: patients with ED (patient group-PG)who are undergoing treatment and a specialized service in the countryside of São Paulo and women without ED (control group - CG). The sample was defined based on convenience among the patients undergoing treatment. Subjects answered an individual interview to collect anthropometric datam, the Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26), and the Scale of Attitudes Related to Flavor. To determine whether statistical tests of significance were parametric or non-parametric, the data underwent D’Agostino and Pearson’s Normality Test. Significance level α was fized at 0.05 and the software GrahPadPrism 5.0 was used for analysis. Results: 12 women with eating disorders (PG) and 12 women without eating disorders (CG) took part in this research. Average age was 25. Subjects in the CG preferred tasty food that brought them pleasure, while subjects in the PG usually chose light, natural food with low callory count. Conclusion: People with eating disorders tend to choose food based on its quality and the amount of calories in it, not on the flavor and the pleasure it brings them. Understanding these patients’ preference will aid in the search for better, more effective nutritional strategies for controling their health. RHETORIC AND PAREMIOLOGY: REFLECTIONS ON THE ARGUMENTATIVE EXTENT OF PROVERBS
Purpose: This study seeks to analyze the argumentative aspects of proverbs. Thus, we will analyze the persuasive extent and the intrinsic and extrinsic characteristics of proverbs, which have allowed them to remain alive and adaptive from the earliest days of mankind. Methods: First, a bibliographical survey is being carried on Paremiology (area of knowledge that studies the origin of popular phraseologies such as proverbs) and on rhetoric (Aristotelian theory of argumentation). After acquiring the necessary theoretical knowledge, we will proceed a qualitative analysis of ten English proverbs and their respective correspondents in Portuguese, in order to verify how, in each case, they provide the necessary argument for the orator to persuade and convince his/her audience. The selection of the mentioned proverbs that compose the corpus will take into account only those that are currently in use and will also consider the contexts in which they are used. From that perspective, we will use the website youglish.com (an extension of youtube.com), which will allow us to verify the occurrence of proverbs in videos of varied contents. Preliminary results: Until now, we have been able to ascertain that, because of their traditionality, proverbs are true sources of argument supported by their authority, impersonality and timelessness. Moreover, we noted that the Aristotelian’s theory known as Topics provides an interesting subsidy for the analysis of proverbs as to their commonplace character
HEALTHY LONGEVITY: EXERCISE AT THE BEST AGE
Deterioration is known in physiology as a loss of physical condition that can influence in the reduction of cardiopulmonary capacity and provoke metabolic and functional changes. The purpose of this research is to verify the effect of detraining in elderly people that were practicing functional physical exercises 2x/week offered by the “Mais Saúde” Project in 2017. These elderlies were not practicing any physical activity for a while because they were in a three months’ vacation break; (December, January and February). Methodology used: Only 6 patients of the 19 members of the 2017 project with an average age of 59 ± 5.2 years returned for the 2018’project activities and these are participating of this reassessment. They performed the following tests to measure their functional abilities: anthropometric evaluation (weight and height for calculation of the IMC, Skin Folds for body composition evaluation, waist and hip perimetry for WHR calculation and more: muscle strength test - 1 RM load for MMII (squatting) and MMSS (development), chair lift and sit (WHOQOL-OLD) of 24 items, which is divided into six facets: functioning of the senses, autonomy, past activities, present and future, social participation, death and dying, and intimacy. The protocol of effort they carried out in the previous year consisted of dynamics exercises and in-circuit exercises for strength gain in MMSS and MMII with the with the use of weight machines and free weights and free weights. The results and the conclusion is in progress still
SYNTHESIS OF POLYUREA ELASTOMERS BY SOL-GEL PROCESS FOR CURCUMIN RELEASE SYSTEM.
Purpose: Polyurea hydrogels based on polyethylene oxide (PEO) and diisocyanates was developed by the sol-gel process as potential biomaterial for curcumin release system. Methods and objetive: To obtain the polyureas, a mixture was made between two precursors; polyether and diisocyanate. These reagents were individually solubilized in acetone, subsequently mixed to the isocyanate reagent which presents the reactive groups (-NCO). This reaction between amine and isocyanate form urea group. The addition of the curcumin active agent was carried out shortly after the total solubilization of both. The final materials were evaluated by chemical stability, in vitro cytotoxicity (XTT method) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) for the characterization of the chemical structure. Results: The hydrogel was successfully synthesized and the data obtained through the chemical stability evaluation shows that the material has high stability in different aqueous medium. The cytotoxicity results classify the samples as non-cytotoxic and with (FTIR) it was possible to analyze the chemical structure of the hydrogel and the curcumin-matrix interactions. Conclusion: Based on the results obtained it is possible to analyze that the hydrogel has the basic characteristics necessary to be applied as a biomaterial
APPLICATION OF THE NEURAL NETWORK OF DESCRIPTORS FOR THE RECOGNITION OF PATTERNS IN TASKS OF ROBOTIC HANDLERS
Purpose: The objective of this work was to develop an artificial robotic manipulator with artificial neural network (ANN) techniques and computer vision to enable the artificial intelligence to identify, select, learn and develop tasks optimized to "pick up" the objects, in the questions of the proper position of the claw, lower displacement, use of the appropriate "force" of the claw, use of the appropriate force for transport, among other tasks inherent to the manipulator. Methods: Developed in the Python® programming environment, the systems for image acquisition, image processing and object recognition have been implemented and tested in real time. Tasks such as extraction of contour descriptors in image processing using Fourier Transform, the main normalized frequencies in terms of complex number angulation, information taken from the image, such as; intensity of each channel (RGB), image composition vectors, contours, orientations and local object filling were aggregated, after normalization, to the input of the neuron in the learning process. Results: As a result, the processing of descriptors in single layer neurons, of Perceptron model, returned values of weights that allowed to realize the monitoring of objects in real time, but the need for greater fidelity of the response requires an implementation of a multilayer network so that the system is no longer linear in the response and behaves more faithfully in comparison to human tasks. In terms of the science of robotics, the inverse kinematics processing by Freudenstein's adaptation proved to be efficient in the locomotion of the manipulator. Conclusion:The study is in progress and, in the implementation phase, the number of neurons with multilayers will be increased to compare the response rates with those already analyzed previously
EFFECTIVENESS OF INSTRAMUSCULAR DEXMEDETOMIDINA FOR SEMEN COLLECTION IN CATS – PRELIMINARY RESULTS
Purpose:The aim of this study was verify the effectiveness of instramuscular dexmedetomidina for semen collection in cats Methods:Five owners mongrel cats, with 1 to 5 years old, were submitted to sedation with dexmedetomidine (70 microg/kg) by intramuscular injection. After injection a washout period of 20 minutes the semen collection was performed by urethral catheterization. The cats were monitored before and after 10 minutes after dexmedetomidine injection during all sedative effects stopped after first spontaneous movements of the limbs, these monitoring consisted cardiopulmonary parameters (heart and respiratory rate – HR and RR; systolic arterial pressure – SAP, rectal temperature RT and peripheral oxygen saturation SpO2); the quality of semen collection was defined by good (no movements of the pelvic limbs and no resistance to urethral catheterization), moderate (little movements of pelvic limbs with resistance to catheterization, but allows semen collection) and poor (great movements of the pelvic limbs without possibility urethral catheterization. Results:One cat was received a initial dose of 50 microg/kg and quality of semen collection was poor. Other four cats were treated with 70 microg/kg was qualified by moderate. All cats presented bradycardia and bradipnea. Rectal temperature and SpO2remained in interval range to specie. The mean time of sedation time was 98 ± 25 minutes Conclusion: Based on the preliminary results dexmedetomidine at doses of 70 microg/kg was effective to semen collection of cats, but promote moderate cardiopulmonary depress.
