Determination of Excess Pore Pressure in Under Consolidating Soil by using CPTu
North Jakarta is predominantly composed of soft soil that is still undergoing consolidation. According to research by Raharjo et al. (2022), excess pore pressure is still present in the soils of Jakarta. The degree of consolidation and excess pore pressure values indicate that consolidation is not yet complete (Raharjo et al., 2022). In this study, the researchers developed two methods to determine excess pore pressure using field testing. The Stress History and Normalized Soil Engineering Properties (SHANSEP) model equation from Ladd and Foot (1974), as well as Finite Element Method (FEM) modeling using the PLAXIS program, were utilized to estimate the excess pore pressure in the soil. The results from the SHANSEP-based analysis were then compared with those from the FEM analysis using PLAXIS. The comparison showed that the excess pore pressure estimated using PLAXIS closely matched the values obtained from CPTu tests based on the SHANSEP model. Interpretation of parameters from the Cone Penetration Test with pore pressure measurement (CPTu) indicates that the soil at the project site is still consolidating and undergoing settlement. Similarly, the settlement results from the PLAXIS analysis support this conclusion
Potential Biological Hazards in Health Clinics: Key Strategies for Enhancing Worker Safety in Malaysia
Background: Biological hazards in health clinics may lead to acute or chronic health issues for healthcare workers. This study aims to identify potential biological hazards within health clinics, with a focus on the knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) of healthcare workers, in order to improve their safety.
Methods: Samples from environmental surfaces were collected and cultured to identify bacterial pathogens. A cross-sectional study involving 203 healthcare workers was conducted using a questionnaire derived from CDC-adapted guidelines. Descriptive analysis and multivariate regression were used to assess KAP.
Results: Bacterial growth was observed in all clinics. The Kruskal-Wallis Test indicated significant differences in Aerobic Colony Count across sampling sites, but not between clinics. Healthcare workers demonstrated good knowledge and attitudes but exhibited poor practices, mainly influenced by management responsibilities rather than individual actions. Pearson correlations revealed a very weak correlation between knowledge and practices, as well as between attitude and practices. Regression analysis indicated that higher practice scores were predicted by the workers\u27 occupations.
Conclusions: Biological hazards were found in all clinics, and poor practices had a greater significant impact on safety than a lack of knowledge or negative attitudes. Mandatory training, real-time audits, strict rules, and enhanced monitoring are essential strategies for improving worker safety
Five-Year Journey of Technical Assistance in Health Governance Reforms: A Case Report
Many districts and cities in Indonesia continue to have Public Health Development Index scores below the national average, highlighting the need for improved health governance. This study assessed the five-year impact (2019–2023) of a mentoring program for 149 District Health Offices in preparing annual work plans, focusing on stagnation or performance declines. Using a qualitative approach, the study analyzed annual work plan scores before and after technical assistance, conducted focus group discussions, and carried out in-depth interviews to identify challenges. Key barriers included data management issues, weak advocacy, knowledge transfer gaps, and poor cross-sectoral coordination, which hindered decision-making and program sustainability. Findings suggested that structured technical assistance enhanced data-driven planning and intersectoral collaboration at the district level. Strengthening governance frameworks through capacity-building programs and integrating mentorship models into national health strategies can improve regional health performance
Effect of Niobium Dopant on ZnO Thin Films Prepared via the Sol–gel Spin Coating Method
Thin films of zinc oxide (ZnO) and niobium (Nb)-doped ZnO were deposited on a glass substrate using the sol–gel spin coating method. Diethanolamine, isopropyl alcohol, and zinc acetate served as the stabilizers, solvent, and starting ma-terial, respectively. Niobium pentachloride was employed as the dopant source. Energy-dispersive X-ray analysis con-firmed Nb incorporation. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and ultravio-let–visible spectroscopy (UV–Vis) analyses characterized the morphology, structure, and optics of the films, respective-ly. Both films, comprising nanoparticles, were visible in FESEM. Nb doping reduced the particle size from 44.2 nm to 35.8 nm. The XRD peaks at 31.23°, 33.48°, and 35.7° indicate the (100), (002), and (101) orientations, respectively. Nb-doped ZnO exhibited enhanced visible-range transmission in UV–Vis analysis. However, UV spectrum transmission significantly decreased. Nb doping reduced the optical bandgap of ZnO from 3.30 eV to 3.27 eV
Roles of the Survivin BIR Domain in Cellular Apoptosis and Proliferation: An In Silico Study
Survivin is an antiapoptotic protein that is highly expressed in cancer cells. We investigated the dual roles of the Bacu-lovirus IAP Repeats (BIR) domain within survivin, encompassing both apoptosis and proliferation, through an in silico study. The protein-protein interaction (PPI) network of survivin was analyzed using Cytoscape software. Functional enrichment (FE) analysis and data from the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) were used to identify the implicated signaling pathways. The binding affinity of the BIR domain with the targeted proteins was visualized via molecular docking analysis. Drawing insights from the PPI network and FE analysis, we identified two key proteins in-volved in apoptosis such as X-linked Inhibitor of Apoptosis Proteins (XIAP) and caspase-9, and proliferation such as Cyclin-dependent Kinase 1 (CDK1) and Inner Centromere Protein (INCENP) for further analysis of their binding with the survivin BIR domain. These proteins were found to bind to the BIR domain at the Thr34, Thr48, and Ser20 resi-dues that have critical roles to regulate the apoptosis and proliferation. This study provides future insights into how the BIR domain of survivin could emerge as a potential target for cancer treatment, such as determining knockout targets for the development of genome editing technolog
Efek Hipnoterapi untuk Meningkatkan Kualitas Hidup pada Pasien Penyakit Ginjal Kronik: Suatu Laporan Kasus Berbasis Bukti
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a condition of kidney damage with a decrease in glomerulus filtration rate of 60 ml/min/1.73 m3 for a duration of more than three months. CKD is closely related to the patient’s quality of life because the patient must carry out various lifestyle restrictions to slow the progression of kidney damage. Lifestyle restrictions often cause problems in the psychosocial field that increase the severity of symptoms and decrease kidney function faster. This evidence-based case review was compiled to determine the effectiveness of hypnotherapy in improving the quality of life of CKD patients. Literature searches were conducted in four databases, namely PubMed, Cochrane, EMBASE, and Scopus. There are three literatures that fit the eligibility criteria. The critical review was conducted using guidelines created by the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine, University of Oxford. Hypnotherapy consistently shows improved quality of life in the form of decreased symptoms of anxiety, depression, drowsiness, fatigue, and improved social functioning and relationships with family. Hypnotherapy can be considered a complementary therapy in the management of CKD patients with minimal side effects by considering the patient’s accessibility and preferences
Bridging Experience and Intention: The Mediating Role of Outcome Expectations in Social Entrepreneurship among Creative Economy Actors
This study explores the role of outcome expectations in mediating the influence of prior experience on social entrepreneurship intention in the creative economy sector of Indonesia. Despite the increasing interest in social entrepreneurship, research on the factors driving the intention to become a social entrepreneur remains scarce. This study employed the Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT) as a theoretical framework to investigate social entrepreneurship as a career choice, focusing on the influence of outcome expectations on social entrepreneurship intention. A quantitative explanatory survey was conducted with 290 creative economy actors in Bandung through questionnaires. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results reveal that positive outcome expectations mediate the influence of prior experience on social entrepreneurship intention, highlighting the importance of outcome expectations in shaping social entrepreneurship intention. Prior experience in addressing social issues indirectly drives social entrepreneurship intention through positive outcome expectations. These findings underscore the need to cultivate positive outcome expectations in social entrepreneurship training programs to enhance entrepreneurial self-efficacy and motivation. However, this study is limited to creative economy actors in Bandung, affecting its generalizability. Future research could explore additional mediating variables or apply this model to different entrepreneurial sectors. This study contributes to the literature by integrating SCCT into social entrepreneurship, offering a novel perspective on how prior experience shapes entrepreneurial intention

Maternal Dietary, Nutritional Status, and Its Association with Low-Birth Weight: A Scoping Review
Maternal diet and nutritional status during pregnancy influence birth outcomes. This review article aims to synthesize key studies examining the relationship between maternal dietary intake, nutritional status, and the occurrence of low birth weight (LBW). This study applies a scoping review from PubMed and Google Scholar (2018–2023). Observational and experimental studies were included. Articles met the criteria if they involved pregnant women aged 17+, human studies, full-text availability, and were in English or Indonesian. Fourteen studies met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed. The findings revealed that maternal intake of essential macronutrients, including energy and protein, along with key micronutrients such as vitamins B2, B3, B6, B12, A, C, and D, as well as calcium, iron, folic acid, and zinc, often fell below the recommended dietary allowances (RDA). Other factors associated with LBW included unhealthy dietary patterns, low pre-pregnancy BMI, chronic energy deficiency (CED), and inadequate weight gain during pregnancy. LBW is strongly linked to maternal diet and nutritional status during pregnancy. Ensuring adequate nutrient intake, adopting healthier dietary practices, and providing proper supplementation are crucial strategies for improving maternal health. These measures can significantly reduce the risk of LBW, ultimately contributing to better health outcomes for newborns
