    Get PDF

This study discusses the amendments to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation in the context of Russia\u27s limited mobilization during the implementation of its special military operation in Ukraine. It is a multidisciplinary study that combines legal and cultural perspectives, using a qualitative literature review method with a normative legal approach. The objective of this research is to analyze the changes in Russia\u27s criminal code aimed at anticipating the impacts of limited mobilization. By applying the theory of criminalization, the study finds that the amendments and additions to existing legal norms are part of the state\u27s efforts to protect its citizens from the direct and indirect consequences of a military emergency. The criminalization policy is closely related to Russia’s political tradition and President Putin’s policy strategy, which is reflected in the concept of the “dictatorship of law.

    Get PDF
Objective: The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the different effects of trigeminal sensory and vagal-visceral inputs on blood flow (BF) in the submandibular gland (SMG). Methods: Ten to eleven-week-old Wistar rats were anesthetized with urethane (1.0 g/kg) and artificially ventilated. The femoral artery was cannulated for systemic arterial blood pressure (SABP) measurement. The cervical sympathetic trunk (CST) on both sides and the cervical vagus nerve (CVN) on the right side were cut before the stimulation of the left abdominal vagus nerve (AVN). The CVN and lingual nerve (LN) were stimulated after cutting the CST and CVN. AVN, LN, and CVN were electrically stimulated with supramaximal intensity (20 V, 20 Hz, 2-ms duration) for 20 s. SMG hemodynamics were recorded using a laser speckle imaging blood flow meter. SABP was recorded using a Statham pressure transducer. Results: LN stimulation elicited an increase in both SABP and SMG BF. On the other hand, CVN and AVN stimulation induced an increase in SABP and SMG BF. However, the SMG BF increase was lower than that observed after LN stimulation. Conclusion: Trigeminal sensory input rather than vagal-visceral input appears to be involved in the regulation of SMG BF

Objective: Artificial intelligence’s (AI) potential to analyze medical data and improve patient outcomes is driving its rapid integration into healthcare systems. This study addresses the knowledge gap regarding Kazakhstani dental students’ attitudes toward AI in dentistry. Methods: A survey with 213 participants assessed dental students’ views on AI in dentistry at two Kazakhstani universities. A self-administered questionnaire (22 items) via Google Forms was used to gather data on demographics, baseline knowledge (information sources, understanding of AI principles, and familiarity with dental AI applications), and attitudes/perceptions. Frequency analyses and chi-square tests (p \u3c 0.05) explored the responses. Results: The survey included 213 dental students (mean age: 21.79 ± 1.82 years). Two-thirds of participants reported basic knowledge of AI principles; however, the rate of dental AI application awareness was lower (40.9%). Friends and family (65.7%) were the primary sources of information, followed by lectures (14.1%) and social media (13.6%). The year of study and sex did not significantly impact AI knowledge or attitudes (p \u3e 0.05). Conclusion: This study in Kazakhstan reveals dental students’ limited awareness of dental AI applications despite possessing basic AI knowledge. This study recommends taking AI-related dental courses and participating in AI workshops to equip students for the future of dentistry and empower them to contribute to and potentially lead Kazakh-specific dental AI advancements

    Get PDF
Objectives: This study evaluates the scientific outcomes of endocrown research in terms of publication patterns, prominent publishing authors and countries, highly cited articles, and high-impact keywords using bibliometric analysis. Methods: A search was conducted in the Elsevier Scopus database for articles related to endocrowns using the query TS = “endocrown” OR “endo-crown” OR “endo crown*”. Analysis and visualization of the relevant literature and their publication data were performed using MS Excel, VOSviewer, and Biblioshiny. Results: Endocrown research has shown a steady annual growth of 15.23% since 1999, indicating a growing interest and focus in this area. Brazil was ranked among the top contributors, followed by Switzerland. The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry and Operative Dentistry was found to be the leading publisher of endocrown-related articles, while the Journal Dental Materials accumulated a significant number of citations despite a smaller number of published articles, indicating a high impact per publication. Major core research areas identified in endocrown research include the development of new materials with the incorporation of finite element analysis (FEA) and computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology. Finally, endocrown-related emerging keywords include “ceramic” with the highest annual normalized citation (ANC = 1.84), followed by “crown” (ANC = 1.40) and “lithium disilicate” (ANC = 131). Conclusions: The consistent annual growth of endocrown-related publications reflects rising interest in endocrown as a viable treatment option for endodontically treated teeth. It is expected that future research will prioritise exploring new materials and advancements in technology like CAD/CAM, along with incorporating FEA studies

Does Periodontal Treatment During Pregnancy Reduce the Incidence of Preterm Birth Rates?: A Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

    Get PDF
Objective: To find out if scaling and root planing for periodontal disease during pregnancy lowers the incidence of preterm births. Methods: This is a meta-analysis study design; searches were conducted in the PubMed database and on Google Scholar between January 2000 and December 2023. Only randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were considered. The studies will be examined to determine the relationship between non-surgical periodontal treatment and preterm birth rates among pregnant women. Results: Only 14 trials were included out of 194 articles identified. The overall result indicated a statistically significant reduction in preterm birth rate when we use the random effects model (odds ratio 0.64, 95% CI: 0.46 to 0.89; p = 0.008). Conclusions: This meta-analysis demonstrates that treating chronic periodontitis with scaling and root planing in pregnant women has a significant impact on reducing the incidence of preterm birth rate. Periodontal disease is common in pregnancy, resulting in a lower quality of life, frequent systemic pathologies, and poor pregnancy outcomes. Given the negative consequences, public health implications, and large disease burden, it is worthwhile to look into more aspects of periodontal disease during pregnancy. Further well-organized studies are still needed

ARAH BARU POLITIK KEWARGAAN ETNIS TIONGHOA DI INDONESIA (STUDI KASUS JAKARTA & MANADO)

The new direction of ethnic Chinese citizenship politics in Indonesia is marked by a communal revival in non-governmental organizations, media and schools. The past of ethnic Chinese in Indonesia is indeed full of crises, but the future of Chinese citizens in Indonesia really depends on the policies of each ruling regime towards their group. The new direction of ethnic Chinese citizenship politics in Indonesia must be understood as a process of psychological rehabilitation for sentiment and antipathy towards China in the past. The interpretation of social reality and the social movements they carry out on a local scale should be appreciated and appreciated rationally and sympathetically. The government\u27s efforts to create democratic change require much greater effort. Perhaps with the development of democratization in Indonesia, residents of Chinese descent, especially in Jakarta and Manado, will feel that there is security stability, economic growth and equal access to work so that social justice for all is truly achieved to the maximum. Thus, the central government needs to encourage the involvement of Chinese citizens in the world of local government politics at both the executive and legislative levels so that they can find the best way to deal with ethnic and religious tensions in our democratic political system

    Get PDF
Vocational schools equip students with practical skills and expose them to industry-related hazards, making Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) a crucial aspect of the school environment. This study aims to identify key factors behind the weak implementation of OHS in vocational schools. A literature review used articles published between 2017–2024 from national and international journals. The review found poor OHS implementation stems from lack of awareness, inadequate policies, insufficient infrastructure, weak safety culture, and negligence in accident prevention. To address these issues, the study recommends OHS education and training, improvement of school infrastructure, curriculum integration, formation of safety teams, and routine monitoring. These strategies aim to foster a safety-oriented school culture and reduce accident risks for students, teachers, and visitors

Determinants of Sharia Restricted Intermediary Account (SRIA) Adoption in Islamic Banks: A Theory of Planned Behavior Approach

    Get PDF
Purpose - This study examines the psychological factors influencing attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioural control, and intention to use Sharia Restricted Intermediary Account (SRIA) products in Islamic banking. As Indonesia experiences a demographic bonus, understanding these factors is essential to enhancing SRIA adoption and supporting national investment growth. Design/methodology/approach - A non-probability sampling method was used, collecting data from 280 respondents. Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed for data analysis. Findings - The results indicate that compatibility and relative advantage positively influence attitudes toward SRIA, while uncertainty has a negative effect. Spirituality and normative beliefs positively impact subjective norms, while self-efficacy and facilitation conditions enhance perceived behavioral control. Additionally, attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control significantly influence an individual’s intention to use SRIA. Implications – The findings suggest that the government and the Islamic banking industry should emphasize Sharia compliance, investment benefits, and spiritual values in SRIA marketing strategies. Education and accessibility are also crucial in strengthening public confidence in this product. Originality/value - This study fills a research gap by specifically analyzing psychological factors influencing SRIA adoption, a relatively new Islamic banking product. It contributes to behavioral finance literature and provides insights for policymakers and financial institutions in promoting SRIA and expanding Islamic banking participation
