Celebrating Achievements as Digital Rituals among Indonesian Youth on Social Media

    No full text
Youth and social media are increasingly intertwined, as their socio-cultural trajectories accelerate digital connectedness and intensify the contestation of diverse identities. Posting on social media has thus become a ritualized practice. This article explores how Indonesian university students construct identities by sharing achievement stories and success narratives on Instagram. Using qualitative data, it examines the experiences of students who have excelled in academic competitions. The study identifies two key typologies behind such posts. Firstly, personal determinism, aimed at self- reward and self-branding. Secondly, social motivation, focused on inspiring peers and building supportive networks to achieve academic success. These typologies reflect a shift in ritual practices, from sacred, magical traditions emphasized in classical sociology and anthropology, to everyday, mediated acts as conceptualized in Goffman’s sociology. Such digital rituals represent a broader transformation of daily practices into a digital culture

A person can state his will after he dies in an authentic deed, namely a Will Deed. Furthermore, the Will Deed must be registered with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham). The case of not registering a Will Deed which ultimately gave rise to a dispute can be found in the Denpasar District Court Decision Number 218/Pdt.G/PN Dps. The problem raised in this study is about the legal consequences of a Will Deed that is not registered with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. In addition, the judge\u27s considerations in his decision to fulfill justice and legal certainty so that it can also provide legal protection to the recipient of the will and third parties. This legal research is in the form of a doctrinal by collecting legal materials through document studies which are then analyzed qualitatively. From the results of the analysis, it can be explained that the legal consequences of a Will Deed that is not registered with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights are still valid and authentic and binding on all parties but do not fulfill the principle of publicity. As for the judge\u27s considerations in the a quo decision, it provides legal certainty to the beneficiaries of the will regarding the validity of Will Deed No. 23 dated July 11, 2017, and provides the bank with protection for the disbursement of deposit funds without risk

The Indonesian government continues to strive to develop infrastructure, including electrical infrastructure, which serves as the main driver and foundation of the economy. The task of managing the electricity sector is entrusted to the state through state-owned enterprises, with PT PLN (Persero) as the main implementer. The planning for these electricity infrastructure projects has been outlined in the 2021-2030 Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL). To support the realization of these projects, substantial funding is required, one of which is through a syndicated loan scheme. Syndicated loans, which involve a number of financial institutions, offer organized and efficient financing solutions with proportionally shared risks. This scheme has become a major financing alternative to support infrastructure projects and other strategic sectors in Indonesia, providing a significant impact on sustainable economic growth

Lending by banks is generally covered by insurance as mitigation in the event of the borrower\u27s death. The insurance can be in the form of insurance issued by general insurance companies or life insurance companies that have the aim of protecting not only the bank as a creditor but also the borrower\u27s heirs so that the borrower\u27s heirs do not need to be burdened to repay the remaining loans and on the other hand the bank\u27s liquidity and profitability are maintained. At an ideal level, if the borrower dies, the bank will make an insurance claim to the insurance company, then the insurance company will check the completeness of the file and transfer some funds to the bank as stipulated on the insurance agreement. This research will focus on the corruption case of misappropriation of credit insurance claims on the death of borrower that occurred at Bank Jateng Kaligawe Sub-Branch Office, Semarang

The Familiarity Effect in Prioritizing Distant Solutions: A Discrete Choice Experiment on Development Planners in Indonesia

    No full text
Development planning ideally requires accurate information to translate distant solutions, where actions and impacts are separated by significant delays. However, the attention theory suggests that the attention of planners is constrained by familiarity bias, shaped by organizational procedures and communication channels. This study argues that planners are less likely to prioritize distant solutions due to a stronger sense of perceived self-efficacy. Even when presented with favorable information, decision-makers tend to rely on heuristics that filter out unfamiliar information. Employing a mixed-method approach by combining a discrete choice experiment and qualitative interviews with regional planners in Indonesia, this study discovers that familiarity bias influences decision-making. Planners not only adjust decisions based on human resource capacities but also favor familiar performance indicators drawn from the common information inventory. This study advances the attention theory and the behavioral approach in public sector decision-making, particularly in addressing new development challenges such as energy transitions and the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI). By focusing on a developing country, this study bridges the development theory and practice in a more human-centered and critical context

    No full text
Pharmacy waiting time is one of the quality indicators that affects patient satisfaction in hospitals. One of the various efforts to reduce drug waiting times is adding outpatient pharmacies. This study aims to see whether the addition of pharmacies based on guarantors can reduce drug waiting times for outpatients. This is an observational study with a cross-sectional design. The sample included 11,703 patients who received prescriptions at Mayapada Hospital Bogor outpatient with insurance and private coverage. Data were collected over four months, two months before and two months after the separation of pharmacies. Waiting time data were obtained from the hospital’s Health Information System (HIS). Univariate analysis showed that most patients visited the hospital during the noon shift (51.1%). Patients with private coverage dominated at 50.8% and non-compounding drugs dominated at 68.7%. There was a time difference of 1 minute and 22 seconds before, and 1 minute and 17 seconds after, the addition of the pharmacy for patients in the private coverage category with insurance. The Mann-Whitney test results get a p-value = \u3c0.001, indicating a significant difference in waiting time between patients with personal coverage and insurance before and after the addition of the pharmacy. These results suggest that separating pharmacies by insurance type can be an effective strategy to reduce prescription waiting times. However, the two-month post-separation period is a limitation, as it may not fully reflect long-term outcomes. Further studies with a longer evaluation period are recommended for more optimal results

The Concept of Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah and Maṣlaḥah in the Classical and Contemporary TafsÎr

    No full text
A contemporary mufassir (Qur’anic exegete) employs the principle of al-‘ibrah bi maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah—that interpretation must refer to the objectives of Islamic law—in an effort to uncover the true meaning of the Qur’anic text. A purely literal reading of the Qur’an, without an understanding of its maqāṣid (objectives), faces many limitations. The maqāṣid approach emphasizes not only the wording of the text but also its underlying purposes and goals. The greatest strength of maqāṣid-based tafsīr (interpretation) lies in its ability to render the Qur’an always relevant, adaptable, and universally applicable. As an interpretive approach not strictly tied to the literal text, maqāṣid offers the advantage of addressing issues not explicitly regulated by Islamic law, since it prioritizes universal maṣlaḥah(public interest) as the core objective of the sharī‘ah. To ensure that the identification of maṣlaḥah is accurate and not misused as a tool for personal biases or arbitrary interpretation, its application must meet specific conditions (shurūṭ). The current trend of developing maqāṣid and uṣūl al-fiqh separately has proven detrimental to both fields. Therefore, efforts are needed to integrate maqāṣid with uṣūl al-fiqh as a progressive discipline within Islamic jurisprudenc

Tindak Pidana Korupsi Yang Dilakukan Oleh Notaris Atas Penyalahgunaan Wewenang Dalam Penerbitan Covernote Untuk Pencairan Kredit (Studi Putusan Pengadilan Tinggi Medan Nomor 9/Pid.sus-Tpk/2023/Pt.mdn)

This paper analyzes the role of covernotes in credit agreements and the consequences of notaries\u27 abuse of authority, leading to corruption. This paper uses a doctrinal research method. A covernote is a written statement containing a notary\u27s promises or commitment to complete their duties, regarding requirements that have not been met by the parties to issue a deed. The Law on Notary Publics does not contain any regulations or mention of covernotes. The existence of covernotes arises from the urgent need for banks to provide temporary documentation for executing credit agreements. Bank Indonesia Regulation Number 20/8/PBI/2018 concerning the Loan-to-Value Ratio for Property Loans, the Financing-to-Value Ratio for Property Financing, and Down Payments or Motor Vehicle Financing specifically authorizes notaries to issue covernotes. In carrying out their duties and authorities, notaries must adhere to the Law on Notary Publics and the Notary Code of Ethics. In carrying out legal acts, notaries are responsible for all their actions. If a notary commits an act that violates the law, they can be held accountable for their mistakes, whether administratively, under the code of ethics, civil law, or criminal law. If a notary\u27s actions result in financial losses to the state, they can be charged with corruption
