Contemporary Sundanese Quran; A departure or divine proximity?

    Get PDF
The Sundanese are deeply immersed in Islam, as exemplified by the adage, “to be Sunda is to be Muslim”. An important initiative within this cultural-religious context is the translation of the Quran into low vernacular Sundanese, departing from the formal and codified language forms of the original. Despite concerns about potential textual transgression, this translation negotiates linguistic barriers and reinforces cultural identity within the Islamic framework. This paper examines the contemporary Sundanese translation of the Quran, Ayat Suci Lenyepaneun (1989), and argues that its use of low colloquial Sundanese not only enhances the Quran’s legibility but also establishes an immediate connection between readers and their faith

    Get PDF
This study seeks to examine whether a composite valuation model (made of several multiples) can outperform a single-multiple valuation model in valuation accuracy. This study applied a trial-and-error iteration using scripts written in R studio to optimize the weight of each multiple in each composite, aiming to reach a minimum valuation error for each composite valuation model. Based on financial data of 2009-2019, a composite valuation model performs better than a single-multiple valuation model in assessing all peer groups, achieving up to 18% greater accuracy, which is a significant improvement. The result suggests that a composite valuation model generally offers superior valuation accuracy. Academics and institutional investors searching for improved valuation accuracy may consider a composite valuation model as an alternative method. This study adds empirical evidence to the current knowledge on multiple-based valuation models, highlighting the potential advantages of a composite valuation model over a single-multiple model

Hypertension is characterized by increased blood pressure due to various risks that do not function normally in stabilizing blood pressure. According to WHO, the number of hypertension patients worldwide in 2020 reached 972 million (26.4%) and increased in 2021 to 1.2 billion (29.2%). Hypertension treatment must be carried out long, requiring a substantial aggregate treatment cost. Based on BPJS data, in 2014, hypertension accounted for approximately Rp2.8 trillion in healthcare costs, which increased annually until 2016, reaching around Rp4.2 trillion. The purpose of this study is to describe the overall estimated cost of hypertension treatment for outpatients at Puskesmas Gamping 2. This Cost of Illness (COI) study calculates direct and indirect costs from the perspectives of payers and patients. The study was conducted on 65 respondents selected using the convenience sampling technique. The research instruments included the collection of financial administration information and medical records. The study results show that the majority of outpatient hypertension patients at Puskesmas Gamping 2 are female, totaling 41 patients (63%), aged 55-64 years (27 patients, 42%), and working as housewives (27 patients, 42%). The average total cost (COI) of outpatient hypertension treatment at Puskesmas Gamping 2 is Rp1,852,392, with a minimum cost of Rp772,886 and a maximum of Rp3,837,080 per patient per year. These results indicate the need for a more effective and efficient hypertension management strategy, both clinically and economically, to reduce the continuously increasing financial burden on the healthcare system and patients

    No full text
Background: Acne conglobata (AC) is a rare and severe acne characterized by interconnected nodules, cysts, and abscesses. Mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes (MSC-exosomes) have immunosuppressive properties that alleviate inflammation and immunological reactions. We present a case of AC in a patient who received topical administration of exosomes. Case Illustration: A 20-year-old male was diagnosed with AC, presenting as inflammatory papules and cysts covered with yellowish crusts that had been present for five months. Exosomes (ASCE+®, Seoul, South Korea) were topically administered at a dose of 5 mL, applied evenly to the face. The patient underwent three treatment sessions, with a one-week interval between sessions. Photographic images were captured before treatment, immediately after the final session, followed by one week and then three weeks after the final treatment session. The patient expressed complete satisfaction with the implemented treatment and disclosed no adverse effects. Discussion: The present case report illustrates the therapeutic advantages associated with the use of exosomes in a patient with AC. The therapeutic targeting of inflammatory regulators is crucial in treating AC. Studies have shown that MSCs possess inherent immunosuppressive properties that can help alleviate inflammation and immunological reactions. MSC-exosomes offer additional benefits, including angiogenic capacity and collagen synthesis. The study\u27s limitations include the short follow-up duration and the lack of a control group. Conclusion: Exosomes have the potential to serve as cosmeceutical in the treatment of AC, due to their anti-inflammatory, regenerative, and antimicrobial properties

Mercury, a byproduct of mining, can harm the environment. One method to reduce this impact is through phytoremediation. This study used the Mexican sword (Aquarius palifolius), a plant with the potential to absorb and accumulate mercury. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of mercury stress on nitrate reductase activity, which plays a role in plant productivity, and to assess its impact on growth parameters, including plant height growth rate, leaf length, and number of leaves. Three-month-old A. palifolius plants obtained from rice fields in Sleman were treated with mercury at doses of 0, 14, 16, 18, and 20 ppm. The experiment was conducted in triplicate. Nitrate reductase activity was measured using a spectrophotometer, and growth rate was observed over 15 days. Data were analyzed using One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and evaluated using Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT). Mercury exposure led to adaptations, including a 9.5%–13.5% change in nitrate reductase activity and a 50%–65% reduction in the number of leaves. Growth rates of plant height and number of leaves showed no significant differences, even under mercury stress. These results indicate that A. palifolius can tolerate mercury concentrations of 14–20 ppm and has the potential to functions as a phytoremediation agent

The Relationship Between the Use of Piped Drinking Water and Diarrhea: Data from the 2017 Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS)

    No full text
Access to clean water remains a global challenge. According to the World Health Organization, in 2020 unsafe water and poor sanitation contributed to approximately 485,000 deaths annually due to diarrhea; one of the leading causes of child mortality in low- and middle-income countries. In Indonesia, UNICEF reported that nearly 70% of household drinking water sources are contaminated with fecal matter, increasing the risk of diarrhea, particularly among children under five. This study aims to analyze the association between the use of piped drinking water and the incidence of diarrhea among children under five in Indonesia. A cross-sectional study design was used, based on secondary data from the 2017 Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS), conducted across 34 provinces. The sample included 17,147 children under five who experienced diarrhea within the 24 hours or two weeks prior to the survey. Findings revealed that although all respondents used piped water as their main drinking water source, 14.2% still suffered from diarrhea. This indicates that piped water is not entirely safe. Children from low-income households, rural areas, and those without access to proper sanitation facilities were at higher risk. These findings underscore the urgent need to improve piped water quality and expand access to adequate sanitation to prevent diarrhea in children

Characterization and Drug Release Evaluation of Chlorhexidine-Encapsulated Silica Nanoparticles for Potential Root Canal Disinfection

    No full text
The failure of root canal treatments is often attributed to bacterial invasion of the dentinal tubules, where pathogens can persist and complicate healing. Chlorhexidine digluconate, a potent antimicrobial agent, has been widely utilized for its broad-spectrum antibacterial effects. However, challenges remain in achieving efficient distribution and sustained release within the root canal system. This study investigates the encapsulation of chlorhexidine digluconate within silica nanoparticles as a novel drug delivery system that is aimed at improving root canal treatment outcomes. Silica nanoparticles were synthesized using the sol-gel method and subsequently immersed in a 2% chlorhexidine digluconate solution for 15 to 30 minutes to achieve encapsulation. The resulting materials were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and ultraviolet–visible (UV–Vis) spectroscopy. SEM analysis revealed particle sizes in the range of 80–150 nm for nanoparticles aged for 15 minutes and in the range of 250–350 nm for those aged for 30 minutes. FTIR spectroscopy confirmed the presence of functional groups characteristic of silica, chitosan, and sodium alginate, indicating successful encapsulation. The UV–Vis spectrophotometry demonstrated that silica nanoparticles aged for 30 minutes exhibited a more stable and controlled release of chlorhexidine digluconate (0.08 ppm) over a 60-minute period. This study presents a novel approach for enhancing root canal treatment, in which silica nanoparticles are utilized for controlled drug delivery. Additionally, the study shows that longer aging times may offer improved stability and efficacy in sustained antimicrobial action. The findings suggest that the use of silica-encapsulated chlorhexidine nanoparticles is a promising strategy for more effective endodontic treatment because it addresses bacterial invasion and supports long-term therapeutic effects

Introduction. Dolutegravir (DTG) is one of the effective antiretroviral therapies (ART) for suppressing HIV replication and has a favorable safety profile. However, reports regarding neuropsychiatric side effects, especially in patients transitioning from a nevirapine (NVP) regimen to dolutegravir, have started to emerge. This study aimed to describe the changes in neuropsychiatric symptoms before and after the transition from a NVP-based ARV regimen to DTG in HIV patients at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM), Jakarta. Methods. This study employed a prospective cohort design involving 292 HIV patients at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital who were transitioning from NVP to DTG regimen. Participants were monitored for six months, and neuropsychiatric symptoms were assessed using a modified HIV symptom index (mHSI). Data collection was conducted at the beginning of the transition (baseline) and during follow-up through interviews regarding HIV-related symptoms and ART. Results. At the start of the study, 70.2% of participants reported at least one neuropsychiatric symptom, which increased to 80.1% after 6 months of transitioning to TLD. The most commonly reported symptoms were insomnia, headaches, and anxiety, with women reporting more symptoms than men. Statistical analysis showed a significant increase in symptoms of sadness, headaches, and irritability (p \u3c 0.01) after the transition to dtg. Conclusions. Although DTG shows good viral suppression capabilities, significant neuropsychiatric side effects still arose, especially in patients with a history of mental disorders. Close monitoring of neuropsychiatric symptoms and adjustments to the ART regimen need to be carried out to improve the quality of life for HIV patients undergoing DTG therapy
