    Get PDF
This article discusses the changes in the implementation of death rituals organized by ethnic Chinese in Padang city. Documents in the form of photos and bylaws of the death ritual procession, an interview, and observations at the funeral home, crematorium of the Chinese socio-cultural and funeral association Himpunan Tjinta Teman (HTT), Himpunan Bersatu Teguh (HBT), and the Chinese cemetery complex in Bukit Sin Tiong and TPU Bungus Teluk Kabung are the sources of this article. The article\u27s findings show that the performance of death procession rituals is an important part that marks the identity of the deceased and the family left behind. The ethnic Chinese of Padang still carry out death rituals in the Chinese tradition because there is a death congregation in the city of Padang that serves as a forum for preserving and organizing this ancestral tradition. In its development, the tradition of the death ritual procession has changed with the times, especially in the use of symbols, the stages of implementing a shorter and more efficient ritual process, the choice of the cremation process as a result of technological findings and the shift in ritual meaning from generation to generation of Chinese. These changes occurred in line with the changing times and the reforms adopted by the two Padang Chinese death societies as well as changes in the Chinese generation itself

Do Environmental Risks Explain the Sovereign Sukuk Yields in Malaysia?

    Get PDF
Given the increasing risks posed by environmental degradation, severe climate change, and recent pandemics, the establishment of a sustainable economy has become a priority for numerous nations. From this perspective, it is crucial to emphasize sustainable finance since it has the potential to serve as a vehicle for accomplishing a green economic agenda. Sovereign sukuk held a prominent position in the sukuk market, both domestically and internationally, but its influence was particularly significant inside the domestic sphere. The study seeks to examine the link between environmental risks and the yield performance of sovereign sukuk. Sukuk performed less favourably compared to other asset classes in terms of including environmental risk in the calculation of yield. Therefore, it is crucial to conduct additional investigation into the impact of environmental concerns on sukuk yields. The analysis includes Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) and quantile regression techniques, using data from the period 1990-2021. This study examines the relationship between market variables, environmental risk, and sukuk yields in Malaysia. The paper demonstrates that both market variables and environmental concerns have an impact on the yields of sovereign sukuk. Additionally, it introduces a novel approach for modelling these yields

ORIENTASI RIGID DAN MODERAT DALAM PENAFSIRAN ORIGINAL INTENT DAN PRAKTIKNYA DI INDONESIA

    Get PDF

Designing and Implementing a Classification Model for Mangoes Based on Size and Ripeness using Image Processing

    Get PDF
Image processing is an advanced technology that significantly supports production, identification, and quality control for fruits. This paper uses image processing techniques to develop a mango classification system based on size and ripeness. The system integrates hardware, including an Arduino microcontroller, camera, sensors, actuators, and a user-friendly computer interface for monitoring and control. The classification algorithm extracts key features of the mangoes, such as their color and shape, to categorize them into predefined quality classes. Experimental results demonstrate that the system achieves an accuracy exceeding 90% for both ripeness and size classification, with a productivity level of 300 kg/hour, surpassing the initial target of 250 kg/hour. Furthermore, the system operates reliably under varying lighting conditions, ensuring flexibility and continuous productivity. These advancements highlight the system’s potential to enhance efficiency and quality in fruit processing industries

    Get PDF
Angling has been taking place and is deeply rooted in historically German culture. Its functionality evolves from subsistence, economic livelihoods, customs and traditions, to recreational activities offering enjoyment of nature. Summer field research was conducted around Baden-Württemberg and Hessen with ten anglers of diverse backgrounds living in Germany. The qualitative ethnographic research and perspective-taking approach were applied through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and literature studies to explore the current angling culture in freshwater ecosystem landscapes comprising angling experiences and practices, and anglers’ perceptions. The research findings demonstrate angling goes beyond fondness, it is a matter of responsibility in terms of animal welfare and ecosystem balance as is evident from anglers’ ecological consciousness adhering to the fishing rules and procedures, besides ethical considerations of human-nonhuman relations. Understanding fish through othering does not necessarily signify human supremacy over other species, but rather an act of reconciling, considering biological differences are ineluctable features of biological systems

Assessment of H2S-Induced Cracking Susceptibility in Steam Line Pipes and Weld Zones During Geothermal Well Construction

    Get PDF
The susceptibility of steam line pipes, especially in the HAZ (heat-affected zone) and weldment areas, to hydrogen sulfide in the geothermal industry is crucial to understand from the early stages, particularly during construction. The combination of tensile stress from residual stresses after welding and metallurgical phase transformation makes the joint areas vulnerable to sulfide stress cracking. This condition becomes even more extreme when the equipment operates during the well stimulation phase. This research assesses the severity of H₂S-induced cracking using NACE MR0175 and ISO 15156-1 standards, focusing on the effects of pH and partial pressure of H₂S (pH₂S). The findings aim to provide insights into critical factors influencing H₂S cracking susceptibility and to enhance material integrity in geothermal systems. The result shows that while A106 Gr B steel generally meets sour service requirements, certain nodes within the geothermal facility exhibit a moderate risk of cracking under transient conditions. These results emphasize the importance of controlling fluid composition and implementing proper welding procedures to mitigate sulfide stress cracking (SSC)
