The findings of this article show that Muklis Basri has established friendship and commitment to the traditional and customary leaders of Sai Batin in West Lampung. The form of his attention is that many traditional activities, and traditional Sai Batin ceremonies are made a permanent regional and tourism agenda in West Lampung Regency. Likewise, the proximity to the persuasive approach of the community, Mukhlis can attract community sympathy by paying great attention to local customs and the public interest. The existence of customary balancers has the authority to make decisions about the results of deliberations in this case mobilization to influence voters. From an Islamic perspective, the prevailing construction of blind fanaticism towards a particular group or tribe, known as ashobiyah, is considered contrary to the principles of equality and fraternity emphasized by this religion as well as the importance of viewing individuals based on their qualities, character and deeds, not their origin based on Q.S Al Hujurat:13

This study analyzes how and why writing instructors provide written corrective feedback (WCF) on academic writing tasks. It was an ethnography study conducted by the Department of English Education at University in Semarang, Indonesia. This study investigated and analyzed the attitudes of teachers to get insight into classroom methods for delivering written corrective feedback (CF) on student writing. The major objective of the study was to evaluate instructors' beliefs and practices. Therefore, the teachers' perspectives on providing written corrective feedback (WCF) were required to determine the true answers and provide corrective feedback. The conceptual basis for this study was developed from Borg's (2003) concept of teacher cognition (beliefs) and practices, as well as the impediments to written CF reported by several writers. This recent study conducted interviews with three English Education Department instructors who instructed writing classes. This investigation utilized classroom observation, the think-aloud technique, and in-depth interviews. The data was examined using Spradley's technique (1979, 1980). The study of the data revealed both congruence and discord between the beliefs and actions of lecturers. For instance, the instructors' focus and number of writing CF were consistent. In addition, it was demonstrated that extraneous influences affected the lecturers' application of their theories

This ethnographic case study delves into the intricate reading habits of a fifth-semester EFL learner, exploring the multifaceted dynamics of her engagement with both fiction and non-fiction literature. The research unfolds the pivotal role of early exposure to reading, fostered by parental encouragement, in shaping a lifelong commitment to literary pursuits. The participant's diverse reading practices, encompassing print and e-books, reflect a nuanced approach to language acquisition and vocabulary enrichment. The study reveals a positive correlation between extensive reading habits and academic performance, particularly in TOEFL reading comprehension and overall language proficiency. The participant's transition from composing stories in Indonesian to writing in English, coupled with the abandonment of subtitles while engaging with English media, underscores the transformative impact of sustained reading habits on language skills. This research not only enhances the understanding of individual reading behaviors but also emphasizes broader implications for language development, academic success, and the cultivation of writing skills.  Further research should investigate the unique impacts of different genres on language acquisition, the influence of digital platforms on reading behaviors, and how reading intersects with socioeconomic and cultural factors. A longitudinal study tracking individuals from infancy to adulthood might uncover the long-term impacts of early literacy. Further investigation is required to explore the impact of personalized reading programs in EFL courses on language proficiency and academic performance. Further research in this field can potentially enhance EFL teaching and overall progress

FROM HISTORICAL TO NORMATIVE-THEOLOGICAL APPROACHES: Hadith Studies and Prophetic Tradition According to Ruggero Vimercati Sanseverino

    No full text
The present article is a descriptive-analytical examination of the hadith studies trend in Germany. Represented by Ruggero Vimercati Sanseverino, Professor of Hadith Studies and Prophetic Tradition at Zentrum für Islamische Theologie at the University of Tübingen Germany, it explores his methodological and didactical contribution to the hadith studies traced through his publications. This study shows that Ruggero focuses on the theological dimension of hadith, as opposed to the historical study of hadith. Ruggero investigates one of the pioneers of referential text on the science of hadith, al-Ilma’ by The Moroccan Maliki scholar al-Qadi ‘Iyad. Besides studying ‘Ulum al-Hadits literature, he also expands his research on a reference text of Sunni prophetology, al-Shifaʾbi-taʿrif Huquq al-Muṣṭafa by the same author. In line with the previous topic, he tries to answer the question of how the Prophet Muhammad should be perceived by doing a critical study of prophetology according to ʿAbd al-Ḥalim Maḥmud. Ruggero also offers a comprehensive thematic approach concerning prophetological themes to counter fundamentalism and solve the conflict in some Muslim communities. The theological approach to hadith offered by Ruggero defines hadith as transmitted testimony. While classical hadith studies which places hadith as a source for prophetic tradition focusing on transmission and Orientalism/Islamic Studies put hadith as history and document which portrayed social and culture of past Muslim societies, Ruggero wants to integrate both approaches and brings them into dialogue.[Artikel ini adalah analisis deskriptif-analitik dari tren studi hadits di Jerman.

Wahdah al-Wujud as one of the important concepts of Islamic studies has different ontological interpretations between philosophers and Islamic theologians and Sufis. These different interpretations result in ontologically significant differences in understanding implications. This study seeks to answer the problem of differences in the interpretation of the concept of wahdah al-wujūd from two major figures who indirectly have the same spirit, namely to harmonize various approaches and scholarship in Islam but have different positions and tendencies in interpreting the concept of wahdah based on each socio-cultural background. This research was conducted using the onto-epistemological analysis method which is part of the branch of philosophy. This research concludes that the ontological status constructed by al-Kurani has implications for theological wahdah al-wujūd which explicitly avoids the equality of creatures with God (tanzih and tasbih), while sadra still sees one entity but in different gradations. In addition, al-Kurani still assumes absolute nothingness, while Sadra assumes relative nothingness as the basis for the creation of a reality other than God. Finally, al-Kurani tends to adopt the theological doctrine of al-Kasb as the basis for the relevance of the interpretation of wahdah al-Wujud, while Sadra adheres to the principle of philosophical non-contradictio

Cultural Intelligence Profiles of Guidance and Counseling Teachers. Cultural bias is one of the inhibiting factors in guidance and counselling, so the process of guidance and counselling in schools is often less than optimal. One of these problems is identified by the low cultural intelligence of guidance and counselling teachers. This study aims to investigate the level of cultural intelligence of guidance and counselling teachers in providing services to students at school . The survey method with descriptive statistical analysis was used to obtain an overview of the level of cultural intelligence of guidance and counselling teachers, which was strengthened through the interpretation of the results of interviews with informants. Respondents in this study amounted to 81 people, who came from high school, and vocational junior high school levels in South Sulawesi. The results showed that the level of cultural intelligence of guidance and counseling teachers at the high school level was 19.5%; SMK was 21.88%, and SMP was 53.57%, which does not consider the cultural diversity of students (such as ethnicity, religion, language, socio-economic status, gender, etc.) in providing guidance and counseling services to students. It has implications for the inability of guidance and counseling teachers to develop multicultural-based service programs, at SMA 14.29%; SMK at 15,63%; and SMP at 21.43%. In general, this study illustrates the low cultural intelligence possessed by guidance and counseling teachers, so that a follow-up effort is in the form of development and training modules to enhance teacher guidance and counseling cultural intelligence. Keywords: Profile, Cultural Intelligence, Guidance and Counseling Teache

    No full text
This study aims to compare the effectiveness of Islamic and conventional monetary policies in addressing inflation in Indonesia. This research is driven by the lack of comprehensive examination of the effectiveness and nuances of the dual monetary system. Additionally, the dynamics of dual monetary policies become the research gap that needs to be addressed for a more nuanced understanding of Indonesia's monetary landscape. Using the Vector Autoregression/Vector Error Correction Model and analyzing time series data from January 2013 to December 2021, the research reveals that neither sharia nor conventional instruments have immediate effects on inflation. However, specific sharia financial instruments substantially impact inflation dynamics in the long term. The study delves into the intricate relationship between these monetary instruments and inflation, shedding light on their nuanced contributions to the economic landscape. This comprehensive analysis contributes valuable insights for policymakers, economists, and stakeholders seeking a nuanced understanding of the dynamics between monetary policy and inflation in Indonesia
