Automatic Guided Control of Mobile Robots Using Rewritable Data Carrier
application/pdfRF-ID technology can help automate automatic identification systems across a range of industries and grow the market increasingly. RF-ID smart labels can be electronically interrogated to reveal ID and other data. Furthermore, these transponders feature read/write updating so that the information from 2D map and the records to guide a mobile robot to a goal rapidly can be updated instantaneously. Especially they are small, lightweight, and can be laminated on the floor easily. In this paper, we propose a RF-ID system to assist a mobile robot and examine the feasibility of the proposed system.departmental bulletin pape
A Study on Material Processing by YAG Laser and its Second and Forth Harmonic Light Pulses
application/pdfThe laser wavelength dependency on the laser material processing mechanism is investigated. Slab bakelite targets were irradiated by the focused Q-switched YAG laser and its second and forth harmonic light pulses. After the laser pulses irradiated,a small hole was observed. The diameter and the depth of the holes were measured.departmental bulletin pape
Study on Precision Positioning using a Diaphragm Chuck with Three Jaws
application/pdfThe purpose of this study is to automatically position a workpiece model at an arbitrary point with high precision. For precision positioning with a gripped workpiece model, the diaphragm chuck has a piezoelectric element in each of the three jaws. Despite the disadvantages of narrow-range movement and hysteresis, the piezoelectric element is popular for use in fine adjustment because of the advantages of compactness, high resolution, good responsiveness, and control at an applied voltage. The workpiece model position was measured using a CCD camera. The CCD camera allowed quick position measurement. A voltage was applied to the piezoelectric elements to excite them as actuators for the automatic precision positioning of a workpiece model gripped by the diaphragm chuck with three jaws. Displacement to the target position was set to 7μm for positioning. Consequently, precision positioning with an error of within 0.39μm was realized in any direction.departmental bulletin pape
Heat transfer from reciprocating planes
conference pape
A Study on Riverfront Houses and Riverbank in Hiroshima City : Consideration in terms of Living Territories
application/pdfCalling riverfront houses has been thing of late years. Resident again begins to notice living in riverbank. Riverbank has site that is natural environment, and it has faculty to view location. Riverbank has effectiveness to think from housing-life. This study takes residential form (riverfront house’s form) and riverbank’s form into consideration in terms of living territories in Hiroshima City. Residential form indicates “opening” “access” “yard”, and living territories indicates “daily-living” “landscape” “natural environment”.departmental bulletin pape
A Visual Study of Vortex Structure around a Square Cylinder Performing Sinusoidal Oscillations in a Fluid at Rest
application/pdfWhen a bluff body is oscillated in a still fluid, secondary streaming is generated around the body. The objective of this study is the flow mixing and diffusion using this secondary flow that induces around the oscillated body. In this paper, the observed flow patterns using the visualization method around oscillated square cylinder was reported and was made a comparison the flow pattern between the both cases of the square cylinder and the circular cylinder. And three-dimensional flow structures around the oscillated square cylinder has been made clear. The experiments are carried out for the cases of Keulegan-Carpenter number KC between 0.4 and 2.0 and nondimensional frequency β=40~140departmental bulletin pape
A Method of Stopping Transporter at the Designated Position Using Linear Induction Motor
application/pdfLinear induction motor does not have the function to stop at arbitrary designated position itself. Therefore, it is necessary to add some function for stopping at the designated position to the linear induction motor, when this motor is used to transporter as a driver. The stopping methods using single-phase alternating-current magnetic field or three-phase one have already been put to practical use. However, these methods require a high order of control technique to prevent swinging back and forth of transporter. In this paper, a new method for stopping at designated position is proposed. This proposed method is to decide the stopping position using three-phase alternating-current magnetic field and to prevent swinging back and forth using direct-current magnetic field. Therefore, the control technique of the proposed method is extremely simple. In this paper, the fundamental configurations and operating principle of the proposed stopping method at the designated position of transporter are described at first. Then, the structure of the trial machine and experimental results are shown and the usefulness is examined.departmental bulletin pape
Rehabilitation of exposed-type column base in steel gymnasium
application/pdfThe large damage to column bases of steel gymnasiums by the Hyogoken-nanbu Earthquake was occurred. The main damage to exposed-type column bases was the fracture of anchor bolts. The most column bases of existing steel structures constructed before 1981 were designed pinned-type ones. The experiments on fixed-type column bases have been carried out and the restoring force characteristics are known to be slip-type ones. In this paper, the column bases in existing K-elementary school gymnasium and normally pinned-type ones are experimented to obtain the restoring force characteristics. In addition, the new devices invented by authors are attached the anchor bolts to improve the slip-type restoring force characteristics. The experimental results are in good agreement with the analytical ones.departmental bulletin pape
Transdisciplinary Engineering Education Challenges throughout Creative Manufacturing Knowledge and Skills
application/pdfThis paper is dedicated to improving the engineering education through effective concepts and features of a transdisciplinary engineering education The engineering education may elaborate in the form of creative manufacturing activities and skills that are capable of integrating decision-making issues from product development to its evaluation. Some essential manufacturing issues in terms of optimal design,3 D solid modeling, and rapid prototyping are also proposed to enhance and guarantee the high-quality engineering education for the extreme diversification of student's attributes. In addition, the results of experiment are introduced and discussed to lead to the creation of distinctive, attractive education systemsdepartmental bulletin pape
A Study on the Influence of Housing Living and Housing Living Space on the Personal Information Appliances from Children's Point of View : About the Influence of the Children's Communication and Children's room on the Personal Information Appliances
application/pdfUsing mobile telephone, personal handy system and personal computer including personal information appliances had been prevailed in general at late years. Many people feel the personal information appliances influence of the housing living and housing living space. An analysis of that the personal information appliances influence of the housing living and housing living space. And this study investigates how should be line between public and private, children's room in housing living.departmental bulletin pape
