Development of a Programming Practice System Using an Autonomous Mobile Robot

    Get PDF
application/pdfThis paper presents a programming practice system using an autonomous mobile robot. The system consists of a modified single-seat electric cart with an onboard computer, a distributed computer system for controlling and communicating the robot and terminal computers on LAN. The control program running on the distributed computer system was developed for students to make application programs easy to operate the steering, the accelerator, and the brake of the robot.departmental bulletin pape

Shaking Table Tests of Portal Framed with Non-Slip-Type Exposed Column-Base

    Get PDF
application/pdfAnchor-bolt-yield-type exposed column bases are generally employed in steel buildings. Vibration characteristics of the building deteriorate because cyclic curves show slip behavior due to anchor-bolts yielding and rigidity of the column base decreases. Non-slip-type column bases were proposed by authors to improve slip behavior. In this paper, shaking table tests were carried out on steel portal frames with either column base to clarify vibration characteristics of the frames. The following conclusions were drawn from the experimental results: 1) The natural frequency of the frame with slip-type column bases decreased due to anchor-bolt yielding. 2) The vibration characteristics of the frame with non-slip-type column bases showed constant.departmental bulletin pape

    Polyhedron Coloring

    Get PDF
application/pdfThis paper deals with the coloring of polyhedrons. The famous four-color theorem comes into effect for polyhedrons as well as the 2-dimensional maps. However, the more the faces of polyhedrons the more complicated, and it becomes almost impossible to solve the four-color problem. A systematic procedure or an algorithm is needed for this problem. Our proposals on the problem are applied to the regular polyhedrons and delta polyhedrons.departmental bulletin pape

Models of Restoring Force Characteristics of Exposed Column-Base with Multi-Rows of Anchor Bolts under Variable-Axial Force and Bending

    Get PDF
application/pdfExperimental studies were carried out on anchor-bolt-yield-type exposed column bases subjected to constant compression or tension to obtain different types of resistant mechanisms and restoring force characteristics due to a magnitude of the constant axial force. In this paper, models of resistant mechanisms and restoring force characteristics are proposed on exposed column bases subjected to a variable axial force by use of the experimental results and the models of restoring force characteristics under constant axial forces.departmental bulletin pape

Estimation of Elastic-Plastic Earthquake Response of Two-Story Steel Pure Frames under Shaking Table Tests

    Get PDF
application/pdfThe simple one-story and two-story steel pure-frame specimens were tested under the earthquake excitation increasing the maximum acceleration level, using the shaking table. The test structures consist of two columns with rigid roof and rigid floor. This research aims to investigate how the characteristic of the input earthquake wave charges the elast-plastic behavior of the frame specimen, compared with the results of the experiment and dynamic earthquake response analysis. Two types of analytical model of restoring force characteristics are employed, which are bi-linear and tri-linear models, to compare the maximum load-carrying capacity and the maximum storydisplacement of the test model. It is found that the maximum acceleration level, in which the story-displacement response of the frame get into plastic range, is influenced by the periodical property of the input earthquake wave.departmental bulletin pape

Thermo-viscoelastic Analysis of Warp Deformation for Laminated Body Consisting of the Combination between Viscoelastic Materials

    Get PDF
application/pdfFor two layer laminated body consisting of epoxy resin and FR-4 substrate, the warp deformation behavior caused by thermal load from heating to cooling was examined from thermo-viscoelastic analysis based on the linear viscoelastic theory and experiment. It was clarified that the warp deformation behavior for the laminated body was affected not only by elastic modulus and linear thermal expansion coefficient of the composition materials but also by the ratio of the material thickness and bending rigidity of composition materials, and that the warp deformation behavior during heating and cooling processes could be predicted by thermo-viscoelastic analysis considered from the temperature and time dependency of the composition materials.departmental bulletin pape

Accuracy in Estimating the Elastic Modulus of Timbers for Individual Part Using the Nondestructive Tapping-Tone Technique

    Get PDF
application/pdfThe purpose of this paper is to investigate the measuring precision of the elastic modulus of structural timber members. The elastic modulus by a rupture test is compared with the elastic modulus obtained by the tapping-tone technique used for each part of the test specimens. 1. As a result of comparison of the elastic modulus between the destructive test and the nondestructive test, precise measurement is obtained, and their correlation coincides very well. 2. The elastic modulus tends to be lower at the part near the pith of member. This result is supported by a destructive test and nondestructive test.departmental bulletin pape

Seismic Diagnosis Evaluation and Micro-Tremor Performance of Traditional Wooden-Framed Houses

    Get PDF
application/pdfThis research aims to investigate the relationship between the earthquake diagnosis evaluation and the fundamental natural frequency based on the microtremor measurement. The unbalanced arrangement of the bearing wall reduces an earthquake-proof grade point for superstructure due to the effect of the eccentricity, even if the house was newly constructed after 1981 and the amount of bearing walls was enough against the Japanese Building Code. The earthquake diagnosis evaluated as a traditional wooden-framed house was applied to wooden houses older than 50 years, whose column size is smaller than 140 mm, so it is not adequate to treat as a traditional wooden-framed structure. The earthquake-proof grade-point as a conventional wooden-framed structure is compared with that as a traditional wooden-framed structure. The micro-tremor measurements are also employed to investigate the fundamental natural frequency of the house. Then it can be found that the superstructure grade-point increases with natural frequency of the wooden house, based on the micro-tremor measurement.departmental bulletin pape
