The Prediction of Collapse Soil by Satellite Remote Sensing
application/pdfRecently, some sediment disasters have been occurring every year in various places. The average occurrence for the past 20 years is 500 times a year. It is thought that the sediment disaster caused by a localized torrential rain especially occurs at a weak part on the ground surface, by which an earth and sand movement phenomenon takes place. In this research, artificial satellite data were used to explain the earth flow disaster, which occurred in Miyajima on September 6, 2005. The satellite information data which made use of pre-disaster data showed the usefulness as the risk prediction for weathering slopes of the mountain torrent.departmental bulletin pape
Reconstruction of 3D Human Face Model Using Plural Photographs
application/pdfIf it is easy to construct the three-dimensiona model of each person’s face, we can realize the face database of person, and many application fields using human faces like animation will spread. In this paper, a method for making a three-dimensional model by using two face pictures taken from two different directions and using the epipolar geometry is described. In order to reconstruct a free-form surface like the shape of human face, a circle distribution image composed of a lot of circles is irradiated on a face, and we reconstruct the three-dimensional face shape model by using the center points of circles as characteristic points. We propose a method for extracting central coordinates of a lot of circles automatically. Next, the restoration accuracy of the proposed technique is verified, and the result of application to a face model is described.departmental bulletin pape
Probabilistic Evaluation of Seepage Failure of a Levee Based upon Structural Reliability Theory and Probabilistic Finite Element Analysis
application/pdfTo date, the stability of levees has been evaluated using the safety factor by seepage flow analysis and circular arc method. Because the safety allowance is estimated from the stability of levees which depend on the underground waters, it is necessary to evaluate the probability of seepage flow and the uncertainty of the resistance of levees quantitatively. In this study, the uncertainty of the geotechnical properties of levees was quantitatively evaluated, and the probabilistic estimates were made for the local failure and the global failure, assuming a circular slip surface. Specifically, the safety margin was evaluated by the failure probability and/or the reliability index by expressing the geotechnical parameters using the probabilistic model and the stochastic finite element method. Toward a Linking Education The Third Report: The Educational Effect of Exercise in Basic Physics

It mainly describes what the class is like. We first explain the manner of class-division based on the degree of academic achievement and then investigate the results of the placement test and the final test. By comparing these two results, we discuss the educational effect of the class. Experimental study on exposed column-base with multi-rows of anchor-bolts subjected to bi-axial bending
application/pdfAn anchor-bolt-yield-type exposed column base subjected to biaxial bending moment shows complicated restoring force characteristics due to increase of number of anchor-bolts resisting the bending moment. A wedge device proposed by the authors is applied to the exposed column base to simplify the restoring force characteristics and to improve slip phenomena. The nonslip-type exposed column-base with multi-rows of anchor-bolts shows self-centering performance. An experimental study was carried out on both slip-type and non-slip-type exposed column bases to verify advantages of the non-slip-type over the slip-type.departmental bulletin pape
The Study of an Attitude Survey of Transportion in a Slope Residential Area
application/pdfPeople have to drive their own cars in the suburban area of a regional hub city, because the service level of the public transportation is lower than that of the central area of the city. However all of them can not drive their private cars there at will. And the traffic service for private cars, is not satisfactory in transportation to children, students, senior citizens, handicapped persons and people who do not have their private cars or driver’s license. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the service level of public transportation in Itsukaichi district of Hiroshima City, which is commuter town. We evaluated the service level of public transportation in Itsukaichi district quantitatively by using Arc View GIS, the model of an existing research, and the over all index that contains fare, time, frequency, transfer resistance and punctuality ,in consideration of the performance of total as Movement including not only traffic performance but also on foot.departmental bulletin pape
Shaking table tests of 2-storys-1-bay steel potal framed with Z-type brace

Shaking table tests on one story frame with the brace arranged in z-type were carried out to verify one direction vibration and constant convergence. Creep properties of composite plate made of CFRP and steel
application/pdfWe had proposed the rehabilitation technique for secondary steel beam by means of bonding CFRP plates. For the rehabilitation technique, it is very important to clarify the creep properties of the composite plate made of CFRP and steel plate. Creep tests of the composite plate made of steel and CFRP plate were performed. Allowable shear stress limit was shown in case of 18℃ ambient temperature. A Study on Framework for Integrated Monitoring and Diagnostication System in Multi-Grid Environment
application/pdfGrid computing is studied and developed all over the world. There are many projects of Grid computing system even in Japan. Each system is well developed and used at present without any troubles. The system, however, becomes big and complicated to get a high CPU power. A monitoring and diagnositcation system is important under such a situation. The well-developed monitoring and diagnostication system is available for most of Grid systems. On the other hand, the Grid system comes to consist of multi-Grid middleware because of its large size. The automatic monitoring and diagnostication system for multi-Grid environment is, therefore, required. We propose a framework for integrated monitoring and diagnostication system which is used in a multi-Grid environment. application/pdfThis report is a study to establish a viewpoint in the interval with the architectural planning studies and the environmental engineering studies. The purpose of this study is to demand structure of the adaptability of the old house, and the neighborhood environment in the town which was made around the Itukushima shrime of Miyajima. We examine in various ways and, about the next matter, get constant result. 1. We clarified the meaning to pay attention to the adaptability of the old house, and the neighborhood environment. 2. We paid attention to the frame of the adaptability and set the frame of the outline. 3. Under a frame of the adaptability, we got the relations of each adaptation factor aspect each other. 4. And, for the old house“SASA-TEI”in the Miyajima-town, we performed the survey of the environmental engineering. 5.
