The Importance of Stimulating Willingness to Learn by Means of Suitable Learning Content : Study on Students’ Learning Motivation

    Get PDF
application/pdfActual class types that exist in secondary education were investigated with a questionnaire in June 2002. In this paper, we analyze this questionnaire, investigate how familiarity with content influences willingness to learn. We discuss the effectiveness and the influences of scientific and English lesson content. In addition, we refer to the necessity of promotion of ESP (English for Specific Purposes) education in the curriculum of science and technology.departmental bulletin pape

Construction of three-dimensional atomic images of functional materials by x-ray fluorescence holography

    Get PDF
application/pdfIn order to bridge experimental results for the atomic structure in mixed crystals between x-ray diffraction showing a Vegard’s law and x-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy indicating preservations of each Pauling’s bond length, an x-ray fluorescence holography (XFH) experiment was carried out on Zn_0.4Mn_0.6Te single crystal for drawing a three-dimensional atomic image around the Zn atom. The XFH image intensities of Te atoms in Zn_0.4Mn_0.6Te with respect to the reference ZnTe are almost constant beyond the five chemical bonds from the central Zn atom, while the nearer Te atomic images are much weaker, indicating that the Pauling’s bond length interconnects with Vegard’s law at about five chemical bonds. The randomness of the atomic positions is well explained by a locomotive wheel atomic configuration model. The feasibility of the XFH technique is also described by reviewing results on other functional materials, such as a mixed crystal In_Ga_xSb, a DVD meterial Ge_2Sb_2Te_5, and a shape memorial alloy Ti_Ni_Fe_6.departmental bulletin pape

A Study on the Development of the Sector Plan in the Works of Alvar Aalto

    Get PDF
application/pdfThe purpose of this study is to examine the development of the sector plan in Alavar Aalto’s works of architecture. The analysis of those works has made it clear that the the sector plan varied from work to work and it gradually lost its characteristics to finally approximate to the rectangular plan. In this process, the appearance of the buildings became simpler while their interior spaces in which the architect seemed to have found more importance became more complex. The fact that the sector plan continued to be used even for different types reveals that Aalto pursued all the possibilities that the sector plan could offer.departmental bulletin pape

Study on Residual Warpage with Curing Reaction of Epoxy Resin Caused in Viscoelasticity Laminated Body

    Get PDF
application/pdfEpoxy resin is usually used as an encapsulation of electronic parts. Epoxy resin is transformed from liquid to solid by the chemical curing reaction, and then residual stress and warpage are generated in the electronic parts. Therefore, the generation mechanism is clarified and it is necessary to establish the evaluation method. In this report, the chemical reaction of epoxy resin was generated and the amount of the warpage caused by the curing process was verified by the experiment. As a result, the simplified evaluation method of the amount of the warpage caused by the chemical reaction was established, and it was clarified that the experimental value of residual warpage could be explained by adding the value of curing warpage by the evaluation method and thermal warpage by the thermal viscoelastic analysis.departmental bulletin pape

A Study of the City Parks and SATOYAMA Methodology : From SATOYAMA to an Allotment Garden

application/pdfViewed from development of a town, its neighboring villages were originally necessary for supply of goods. But recently technology has been weakening the connection between them. Especially this tendency is growing stronger in the intermediate and mountainous regions which have such villages, because of population drain, declining birthrate and rapidly aging. On the other hand, people have begun founding the regions important since the environmental problem and their experience of field activities have deeply interested them. Therefore, the author makes use of part of such a region, known as satoyama, which has not been controlled by land system, in order to create a new connection between a town and its neighboring villages. If satoyama is kept in good condition, it will work well in many ways, and be a route to link the town to the intermediate and mountainous regions. In this study, the author suggests the system of agricultural institution where town people can stay, raise some vegetables, and mix with the local people.departmental bulletin pape

Mission of Administrative Staff Members in Colleges and Universities : In Order to Activate College Management

    Get PDF
application/pdfTackling the six following issues is necessary for the maintenance and development of private schools: 1)effective advertising. 2) to teach students to be able to apply knowledge and technology. 3) to acquire the cooperation of faculty and administrative staff member (ASM). 4) to have accountability and transparency regarding the income and expenses of the colleges and universities. 5) to make plans that contain specific goals to achieve. 6) sound and sufficient management. These are managed by the ASM of colleges and universities, except for #2. So, faculties and ASM must work together to run the colleges and universities effectively. Plus, recent management of colleges and universities demand ASM to understand the fundamental content of current education or research due to recent college and university business, applications for subsidies etc., which require the consideration by ASM.departmental bulletin pape

A Study on Monitoring and Controlling of Communication Data by Network Traffic Visualization

    Get PDF
application/pdfThe Internet has become one of the most important tools. A huge amount of data is communicated in the Internet all over the world. The management of data traffic is very important under such a situation, because the computer transmits lots of unnecessary data though it is infected by a computer virus and the network is not well managed. A monitor of data traffic, therefore, should be required for recognizing such a situation. This paper describes the monitoring and control system of communication data. The system consists of an agent and a manager. The agent monitors the communication data in his own computer and reports the result to the manager. On the other hand, the manager receives and visualizes it to find abnormal data traffics with several kinds of graphs. The system also has the functionality to restrict the specified data transmission. The proposed system makes it possible that an event and a bottleneck of network system can be found and solved easily.departmental bulletin pape

Analytical study on residual deformation of steel structure with self-centering beam-to-column connection

    Get PDF
application/pdfAn experimental study on self-centering beam-to-column connections was carried out, and in this paper earthquake response analysis of steel structures with the connections is conducted to verify reduction of residual story drift after an earthquake. Multi-stories and multi-spans steel buildings are selected and analytical results are discussed. It is concluded that the self-centering connections are more effective than the rigid ones.departmental bulletin pape

Elasto-plastic behavior of shear panel damper under bi-axial loading

    Get PDF
application/pdfShear panel steel damper are used as a hysteretic damper for building. Bracing and post type structure adopted with the shear panel damper. Although post column with shear panel damper are subjected to bi-axial loading under severe earthquake, the restoring force characteristics of shear panel damper are not clarified so far. Hence, we were investigate the resistance mechanism of the damper under bi-axial loading through cyclic loading test.departmental bulletin pape

A Pattern of Fluctuation in the Rate of Attendance during a Semester in Exercise of Introduction to Electronics and Electric Engineering

    Get PDF
application/pdfA pattern of fluctuation in the rate of attendance during a semester in Exercise of Introduction to Electronics and Electric Engineering shows quite similar tendency for four years from 2006. This exercise gives skills of calculation and of catching the points of questions to the students majoring in electronics or electrical engineering. The percentage of attendance sinks just after the consecutive holidays in May, and in the middle of June, the rainy season in Japan, every year. The steep decrease that appears twice on the distribution of attendance may show some abandonment and depression for attending school, though the rate of absence is around six percent. Because the students’ volition for going to school is fragile as mentioned above, some consideration to encourage students is definitely needed when we teachers give the lecture and speak to students.departmental bulletin pape
