Transformation and Composition of Field Pictures for Estimation of Plant Growth in Paddy Field

    Get PDF
application/pdfIt is important to agricultural production to estimate a growth state of rice in paddy field. The system that diagnoses the growth of rice by the image analysis is proposed. This system transforms bird’s-eye view images of paddy fields to top views of a parallel projection and analyzes them. Image analysis is performed for each image. Therefore, there is a possibility that we cannot diagnose all farms within a limited period in case a farm to diagnose is wide. Analytical time is shortened by composing plural plane views to one piece of image. In this paper, transformation and composition methods of field pictures are proposed. The angle of depression of the camera is automatically calculated from the field picture and the map, and the field images are transformed to a parallel projected image. Parallel projected field image of target area is made by transforming them to be suitable for the map, and composing it.departmental bulletin pape

A Trial of Engineering Design Education Using Website

    Get PDF
application/pdfWe started new “Department of Civil Engineering” in 2006. Then we started the new curriculum as well, in which the design training is given. The students who matriculated in 2006 were, in their sophomoreyear, required to take “Civic Design and Satellite Information” to analyze the space information (three dimensions) from plans (maps=two dimensions) as well as “Practice in Construction Engineering” to make a model (1: 1000) - Educational Creative Technology - of the area of theYahata River. They, juniors now, are required to study space design at “Space Creative Design” in the first term and “Space Creative Practice”. We tried making use of Web system for instructing the students in Design. As a result, they positively participated in the class using Web system. It was also very useful for us to grip how far they were making progress and how well their results got.departmental bulletin pape

The Weathering Classifications of Decomposed Granite Soils and their Engineering Properties

    Get PDF
application/pdfDecomposed granite soils are the residual soils which derive mainly from granitic rocks and which have remained in situ. They are called “Masa-do" in Japanese and are widely distributed in south-western part of Japan. The area which is covered by these soils is a problem area in that changes in the density of the soil have been brought about by cutting and banking and, furthermore,s lope faiureis caused by rainfall. As a result,t here is an increasing number of slope failures in the area. Accordingly, investigations and experiments were carried out on weathered surface solis at construction sites and the engineering properties of these soils was measured. This report is based on the data obtained and examines the quantitative correlation between the degree of weathering and the engineering properties of the soils.departmental bulletin pape

Design Method of Spherical reflector Antennas with a Correcting Subreflector for Spherical Aberration

    Get PDF
application/pdfThis paper describes design method of spherical reflector antennas with the subreflector between the main spherical reflector and the primary horn in order to correct for spherical aberration. Design parameters are three, namely,an aperture angle of the main reflector, a diameter of the subreflector and a position of the horn. If coordinates of the subreflector are de.ned doubly for some combination of the three parameters, the subreflector cannot be formed. Analytical condition to form the subreflector is deduced using the three desin parameters. In numerical results, a subreflector diameter have much in.uence rather than a horn position for forming condition, the minimum diameter of the forming subreflector exist accordin as an aperture angle of the main reflector. An amplitude distribution in the main reflector is presented for the three design parameters and the illuminated radiation patterns at the subreflector. If the diameter of the subreflector is selected for the minimum value describe above in order to minimize aperture blocking of the subreflector, an extreemly inverse-taped amplitude distribution which have deteriorate radiatin characteristics is produced.departmental bulletin pape

Seventeenth Century Kabuki : Rationales of Control

    Get PDF
application/pdfDuring the course of the seventeenth century, kabuki was accommodated within the concurrently developing Tokugawa order. Starting as deviant, subversive, bawdy entertainment in the aftermath of the wars of unification, by the end of the century kabuki was effectively an established form of theatre undergoing formalization of its every aspect, with the important proviso that it was deemed fit only for commoners. This paper traces the ideological, historical and aesthetic pressures that came to bear on the development of this now iconic form of Japanese culture. A four-fold schema is proposed: public order concerns; policing the boundaries of the Tokugawa social order; maintaining samurai identity and pre-eminence; and long-standing samurai ? merchant political contestation.departmental bulletin pape

On the Necessity of Establishing Environmental Studies as a New Subject in the Japanese School Curriculum : Some Proposals towards Richer Learning about the Environment

    Get PDF
application/pdfRicher learning about the environment in the Japanese school curriculum ? though perhaps a roundabout route ? may be a fundamental, radical strategy to stop global warming. The environmental education of Japanese pupils is currently not done systematically, but only partially taught in some subjects. Generally speaking, Japanese pupils’ natural and agricultural experiences are not sufficient. Therefore, the pupils’ knowledge about the earth’s environment is in pieces. Moreover, specialists in the realm of the environmental education, in colleges and enterprises, have not been sufficiently trained. In this paper, we proposed way to improve Japanese environmental studies. In the first place, we surveyed the advanced environmental studies overseas and their problems. In the second place, we scrutinized and examined the environmental studies in Japanese schools. In conclusion, we proposed the necessity of establishing environmental studies as a new subject for richer environmental education.departmental bulletin pape

application/pdfThere are a lot of slope housings of the housing complex in the suburbs part of Hiroshima City. Misuzu investigated the hill housing complex as a case study in the present study. Misuzu is and there is an operation situation of the bus in directions of five an hour of the Hiroshima central area of Tokyo or more because public traffic in the hill housing complex is planned in consideration of commuting and going to school to the Hiroshima central area of Tokyo. However, there is only about one an hour in the Itsukaichi district in the commercial area that is. In addition, the access to the Itsukaichi district is very bad according to the bus stop with four a day. Aging is advanced in about 30 years in the housing complex. There will be a lot of problems in traffic as for becoming of the use of the car the difficulty because of the further progress of aging, and there is a possibility that usual living conditions change greatly in the future. The questionnaire survey was done there, and the actual condition and the consideration of resident’s traffic were investigated. However, the current state of a slope housing complex was understood from the questionnaire survey in an existing research and it was possible only to understand. Then, the regression analysis that uses the disaggregate model based on the questionnaire survey result is done, and the relativity of resident’s traffic consideration structure is shown in the numerical value in the present study. As a result, it aims to clarify the problem and the improvement of the slope housing complex that was not able to be distinguished simple in total.departmental bulletin pape

A Study on Delay Reduction of Wireless Communication by Using Multi-Packet

    Get PDF
application/pdfOur computing environment is changing to the ubiquitous one in which anyone uses any information anytime and anyplace. Therefore electricity consumption is one of the most important issues, because a wireless communication is required for using anyplace. The consumption depends on the communication time and the seize of communication data. It also strongly depends on a packet loss during the communication, which occurs by a weakness of radio waves near the border of maximum communication distance. This paper describes the method for reducing the communication delay, that is, the retransmission caused by packet losses, by using a multi-packet transfer. The device predicts the distance between devices using the genetic algorithm, and transfers the multiplicative data in order to reduce the retransmission by packet losses. It was confirmed that the proposed method was effective for the reduction in the case of high packet losses.departmental bulletin pape

    Get PDF
application/pdfThis paper presents a new type ultrasonic motor operated with a Langevin transducer for the torsional vibration and its direction converter. The vibration converter changes the torsional vibration (circumferential direction vibration) to the vibration in an oblique direction, which pushes the rotor and gives the rotation. The 30-mm-diameter prototype motor was designed with the FEM and constructed. The maximum torque of 0.14 Nm was achieved with the maximum efficiency of 4.1%.departmental bulletin pape

The Use of doubt(e) for Determining the Date of a Manuscript

    Get PDF
application/pdfThis paper questions when the letter was introduced into doute, examines dictionaries and computer corpora, and concludes that the spelling doubte can be a key to date a manuscript. The author starts from his own experience and the personal correspondence with Dr. Margaret Laing, tries to find examples of doute and doubte (with variant forms) in OED, MED and the Helsinki Corpus, and suggests in conclusion a further survey on the forms reconstructed by Latin as well as those suffered metathesis or analogy so as to use the results for assigning more accurate date to a manuscript.departmental bulletin pape
