Numerical analysis and structural system of frame with Z-type non-compression brace(Part 2 Braced-frame)
application/pdfA non-compression brace subjected to cyclic loadings shows resistant characteristics without both buckling and slip-type behavior, and cyclic curves of X-type braces become perfectly-elastic- plastic-type. Cyclic curves of a Z-type brace move to a compressive side of the brace in a cyclic loading test. The analytical study on Z-type braced multi-story frames subjected to earthquake ground motions verified that each story of the frames drifted horizontally to the compressive side of the brace. In this paper, two arrangements of Z-type braces were analyzed to examine applicability of the Z-type braces to multi-story frames. It was concluded from the analytical results that alternate arrangements of the Z-type braces in the multi-story frames showed perfectly-elastic-plastic restoring force characteristics.departmental bulletin pape
A Study on an Ultrasonic Vibraion Ring with Piezoelectric Elements Embedded Inside
application/pdfThis paper presents a new mechanism for excitation of ultrasonic vibration in a metal ring. Four pairs of piezoelectric elements were embedded in four arcuate metal blocks and configured an annular vibration system. The proposed method is effective for compact and high power ultrasonic system design, and for excitation of two degenerate vibration modes spatially and temporally orthogonal to each other to produce the traveling wave. The system, composed of 20-mm diameter piezoelectric ceramic disks for torsional vibration embedded in four 140-mm diameter aluminum blocks, was designed via finite element analysis to operate using out-of-plane vibration modes and their traveling waves, and the expected motions were confirmed theoretically.departmental bulletin pape
An approach to actualize plan for creating a town center - A case study of Miyoshi Station area -
application/pdfIn regional small cities, railway users have decreased and the attraction of the cities has been diminished because of motorization and suburbanization. It is necessary to develop a regional station plaza and to make a node of streets, pass and railroads in town center for revitalizing a small city. If the station plaza contains local community facilities, such as a commercial facility, transportation facility, and green space, these facilities are expected to activate the neighborhoods around the plaza.departmental bulletin pape
A study on population distribution and convenience of bus services
application/pdfIn this Paper, I stood in the viewpoint to promote the use of the bus which was the public transport in the possible department area that was residential area in the suburbs of Hiroshima- city and inspected it about the convenience of the bus of the possible department area of the present conditions. I was aimed at quantity of offer compared it with distribution of the population that considered working with an offer range of the service of the bus, and clarifying it whether you were appropriate in judgment to be concrete when I used the bus for a user whether an important bus stop was near. As a result, there was an insufficient district to a range taken the service of the bus and the transport capacity of the bus for the population with the use possibility, and it understood that it was thought to let you detour around a bus route to the populous district in the range that repositioning a bus stop or road circumstances permitted the populous place for the improvement of these problems.departmental bulletin pape
Shaking table tests and Numerical analysis of 2-storys-1-bay frame with Z-type non-compression brace
application/pdfBuckling restraint braces have resistant capability to both tension and compression because of blocking buckling phenomena. On the other hand, non-compression braces resist no compression and only tension by function of a wedge device. The buckling restraint braces do not possess such unique capability. Shaking table tests on one story frame with the brace arranged in z-type were carried out to verify one direction vibration and constant convergence. In this paper, shaking table tests and numerical analysis on two stories frame are carried out to obtain the same results as the one story tests.departmental bulletin pape
“School New Deal Plan” and “Decentralization” Green Promotion at Iinan Town in Shimane Prefecture
application/pdfThe anti-global warming measure is the pending issue which is common throughout the whole world now, and it is in the one of the high-priority issues on which countries of the world should work. The object period that the Kyoto Protocol sets has already begun in 2008 and aims at the achievement of the reduction (Our country has reduced it by 6 percent for 5 years until 2012 compared with 1990) of the greenhouse gas, and various actions are performed. It is mainly the natural energy such as photovoltaic system in the snowy area and the mountainous district. ‘Compact Village’ where various energy was considered, was formed aiming at the achievement of the local production for local comsumption of the energy of the mountainous district. We examined the development of connected intermediate and mountainous area.departmental bulletin pape
Trial Tests of Two-Dimensional Flow in Sudden Expansion Channel Using a CFD Toolbox(OpenFOAM)
application/pdfThe laminar separated flow through a two-dimensional sudden-expansion channel has been investigated numerically. We have examined the relation between flow structure and the dynamic characteristics of the flow. In this report, we performed several trial tests about the two-dimensional symmetric sudden-expansion channel flow using an open source CFD toolbox (OpenFOAM). The calculations were performed for the case of four different expansion ratios α=2, 3, 3.5 and 4 in the range of Reynolds number 20≦Re≦400. The results obtaining by Open- FOAM were compared with our numerical results and with the past reliable results (numerical and experimental results) in the same flow field. The results are in good agreement among them. OpenFOAM confirmed can be actually used for analyzing the same kind of flow field.departmental bulletin pape
Analytic Continuation Applied to Numerical Calculation
application/pdfA power series with complex variable converges within the radius of convergence, absolutely and uniformly. A holomorphic function is represented by a power series locally, i.e. within the radius of convergence. Starting from the local power series, we show a method to spread the region of convergence by means of suitable transformation of variable. If the region of convergence has a wide area than the original one, the convergence is expected to be fast, which can be applied to a calculation of holomorphic function represented by a power series.departmental bulletin pape
An Adaptive Method Using Magnetic Flux Lines For Two-Dimensional Finite Element Magnetic Field Analysis.
application/pdfThe finite element method is widely used as a numerical analysis technique for a field in the engineering field including the electromagnetic field analysis. However, when an analytical field is divided into finite elements, the distribution of finite elements size differs depending on the analyst, and then the accuracy of analysis is influenced by his experience. The study about an adaptive method is making progress in solving this problem. In this study, we suggest an adaptive method by using magnetic flux lines in two-dimensional magnetic field analysis. By using magnetic flux lines, large and small finite elements are generated and distributed at a gentle place and a big place of a change of quantity of physics, respectively. In this paper, we use two models of magnetic field and show the utility of this proposed adaptive method.departmental bulletin pape
On an Approach to Education for Landscape Design in the Department of Civil Engineering
application/pdfThe department of civil engineering has not given a lecture and practice for landscape design in the past. As for the department of civil engineering, the design of the engineering works structure, the lecture and the practice that emphasizes the design have not been performed till now. The recent tendency shows that students’ learning a design is growing in importance. But we want to make the students in the department of civil engineering be conscious of landscape design for the engineering works structure and think that it is necessary to consider that I give landscape design knowledge having. We made a plan to teach it performing a lecture and practice about landscape design which was necessary for engineering works engineer of the department of civil engineering. The action to the design education that we performed in the department of civil engineering this year is going to improve problems first for the future in this year.departmental bulletin pape
