Loading tests of braced-frame with anchor-bolt-yield-type exposed column-base

    Get PDF
application/pdfColumn-bases are generally designed to consider a bending moment and an axial force, and it is clear that the axial force affects strength and stiffness of anchor-bolt-yield-type exposed column-bases. The column-base with a brace is acted by a strog axial-force and a strong shearing force, then it can be destroyed by excessive shearing force. Therefore, a cyclic loading test on a braced frame with weak column-base is carried out to clarify shearing fracture behavior of the column-base.departmental bulletin pape

Fault Equipments Detection method in Power System by using Multi-agent Approach

    Get PDF
application/pdfIn this paper, we propose a new decentralized multi-agent approach for detecting fault equipments in power system. The proposed method consists of several SSAGs, DSAGs and LAGs. A SSAG is installed in each substation and controls its substation. A DSAG is installed in each distribution substation and receives the control instructions from SSAG or LAG. LAG is installed in any substation and controls the transmission line. In order to demonstrate the capability of proposed multi-agent system, it has been applied to a model power system that has 7 substations and 8 distribution substations. The simulation results show that the proposed multi-agent approach is effective and promising.departmental bulletin pape

Study on Making an Outage Work Planningby Using Candidates for Working System Configurations

    Get PDF
application/pdfIn order to secure the reliable electric power supply, it is necessary to undertake new extension, renewal and maintenance works of various power system apparatuses. These works generally deteriorate power supply reliability in system operations compared with normal operations without outage works. The most important thing is that outage works are appropriately executed with system configurations to avoid reducing supply reliability as much as possible. The author has so far proposed that it formulizes an outage work planning as a combinatorial optimization problem of the power system configuration, considering the minimization of power supply shortage over the whole period. The proposed system generates a huge number of candidates for working configurations satisfying various operational constraints in the process for solving the problem. This paper presents a method for making outage work planning with these candidates by using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) which is a kind of evolutional computation methods. We also carried out numerical simulations to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method.departmental bulletin pape

Revaluing Environmental Components in Satoyama - A Trial of Environmental Education through Feeling Wonders of plants -

    Get PDF
application/pdfRecently, satoyama, which used to be a place to supply daily necessities goods, has become less and less important everyday for our lives. On the other hand, attention is being paid to environmental education, and the main focus is on satoyama. Therefore this study shows the possibility of environmental education by teaching the mystery of a plant called kakuremino, which is an example of educational materials founds in satoyama.departmental bulletin pape

The Prediction of Collapse Soil by Airlines Laser Survey Data

    Get PDF
application/pdfThe slope disaster and the flood disaster by earthquake and the heavy rain occur frequently in Japan. The method of measuring geographical features at the disaster area and their change has advanced in recent years. Especially, the Airlines Laser measurement has been used to estimate the amount of earth and sand, and flood damage. In this research, the earth flow disaster, which occurred in Miyajima Island in Hiroshima Prefecture on September 6, 2005, was examined on the basis of the Airlines Laser data. As a result, the amount of earth and sand was estimated from difference of elevation at the mountain stream area by using the Airlines Laser data that was observed after the disaster.departmental bulletin pape

Study on Safety Evaluation of MIYAJIMA by Satellite Remote Sensing

    Get PDF
application/pdfIn our country, the typhoon cause many damages of human and materials in various places every year. Therefore it is necessary to analyze widely position and scale of decomposed granite soil as grand information for preventing the damage. The author investigated the disaster by MIYAJIMA Island where occurred in 2005 by the satellite remote sensing technology. It is difficult to investigate a subsurface in this island where were appointed in the protection area and there were many restriction. Therefore this study tried to develop grand information by the satellite remote sensing technology and predict to disaster by evaluation of the security of the slope.departmental bulletin pape

A Study on Digital Quadrature Detector

    Get PDF
application/pdfA Q-component interpolation method using the quad-frequency sampling technique for an OFDM signal demodulation was investigated on a theoretical basis. The authors proposed a novel criterion named “Q-component amplitude modulation coefficient,” which is a powerful tool for determination of optimal interpolation coefficients. The coefficient values in cases of two-point and four-point interpolation were estimated.departmental bulletin pape

Interactive Decision Making for Allocation Optimization Problems of Advertisement Materials to Broadcast Time Slots

    Get PDF
application/pdfThis paper focuses on allocation optimization problems of advertisement materials to broadcast time slots. For the problems, N. Sugiura et al. proposed interactive decision making approach to obtain practical allocation, but the verification of the effectiveness of the approach has not been done yet. The main aim of this paper is to report the result of applying the Sugiura’s approach into an illustrative numerical example.conference pape

Toward a Linking Education The Fifth Report : the Revision of the Physics Textbook for Pre-Entrance Seminar

    Get PDF
application/pdfOur Institute annually holds Pre-Entrance Seminar of college English, mathematics and physics for the students who pass various types of admission through recommendation and AO examination. We have revised the physics textbook of Pre-Entrance Seminar to improve the linking between the pre-entrance physics for the seminar and the post-entrance college physics for the major subjects. The main theme of the pre-entrance physics is changed from the review of examination questions to the formulation of the motion of bodies taken with stroboscopic photography. The revised textbook used in the face to face and the correspondence lessons of Pre-Entrance Seminar 2010 is highly evaluated from educational effects. We stress that the strong linking between the pre-entrance physics and the post-entrance physic is important to make our linking education more effective.departmental bulletin pape

Automatic Exercise Delivery to Portable Digital Terminal for Supporting Self-Study

    Get PDF
application/pdfAt present, most of the e-Learning environments are utilized only by ”authorized” users. A student using an e- Learning service is one whose learning habits are already established to some degree, and who relies less on assistance than the student who has more difficulty in learning. Therefore this paper shows a e-Learning system for learners who cannot establish study habits or take an active part in learning. The interactive e-learning system that this paper outlines is an essential tool for supporting self-study continuity among individual learners. The system, used in conjunction with an interactive e-mail service through cell-phones, allows users to automatically receive up to some exercise e-mails a day. Learners are not required to continually access the learning contents for themselves, as in other systems. What’s more, after replying to an e-mail, a student’s results are instantaneously available, so each user can grasp their own level of achievement, collective ranking, and weak points after checking the website of this system. All users’ history and answers are stored in a database. This communal information then contributes to the understanding of class trends and individual learning levels. The system supports each individual learner by offering a means to study through a convenient and easily accessible system, which targets users whose effective study habits are not yet established.conference pape
