On the approach of the improvement of the class method

    Get PDF
application/pdfVarious devices are suggested till now, and, for the engineering education, it is taken in for a lecture. Of course there are some should take in these devices, but, as for it being possible in limited time, there is a limit quantitatively. Therefore, by how little trouble and time, an effect must think about a policy to appear. In late years there is the function demanded from the civil engineering department for consideration to the environment many divergences. The important point in them is “a viewpoint of the welfare”. Many of existing social infrastructure institutions were made a lot in high economic growth times, but there are many problem things from “viewpoints of the welfare” such as barrier-free when I watch it in a contemporary viewpoint. In conventional engineering works education, this school this school department did not have the lecture to offer this “viewpoint of the welfare” chiefly. When we thought about the ability that is necessary for construction engineer in the future, we have high necessity to teach “a viewpoint of the welfare” for a student.departmental bulletin pape

A study on Framework for Observation of Moving Objects Using Sensor Network

    Get PDF
application/pdfFor realizing the ubiquitous society, several technologies to observe moving objects have been developed in recent years. A lot of sensor nodes are used and the sensor network is introduced in most cases. The management of the nodes is, however, not easy, because there are lots of nodes. Moreover, not all the networks consist of only one kind of sensors. They make it difficult to handle the data in the sensor network. Therefore, a general-purpose framework for transferring data in the network has been developed. The proposed framework has implemented the functions not only to calculate the location of the moving object but also to predict it in the next unit time with data of near nodes. Performance measurements also have been performed to evaluate the framework. As a result, the effectiveness of the proposed framework has been confirmed because of the small processing time and the good scalability.departmental bulletin pape

A comparison of different procedures relating to parameter estimation in extreme value type 1 distribution through simulation

    Get PDF
application/pdfThe extreme value (EV) distribution is widely used for fitting and analyzing a long range of data emanated from different real-life situations. Annual maximum water-flow data collected from a river over a considerable period of time (say, about 30 years) are found to follow the EV distribution very satisfactorily. Also the distribution of annual maximum rainfall data in a region closely follows the EV distribution. Thus these distributions have important applications in the works related to the flood frequency estimation/estimation of return period flood. The estimation of parameters from these types of data (data following the EV type I with two parameters, EV I(2), distribution) has important use in the field of hydrology to understand the situation more deeply. Here an investigation is made through simulation for several pairs of values of a and b (parameters of the EV I(2) distribution) using different sample sizes in order to compare the accuracy of maximum likelihood method as well as method of moments in estimating the original parameters (the pairs of values of a and b for which the simulation is done). A module is developed in SAS/IML which deals with a random number generation in the EV I(2) distribution and the subsequent estimation of parameters with method of moments and maximum likelihood method. It is found that when the parameter value of a is less than or equal to 0.5, the method of moments produce more accurate estimators of the parameters than the corresponding maximum likelihood estimators for large samples (250 or more). An error distribution investigation with respect to the parameters is also made with CAPABILITY and QQPLOT procedures in SAS/QC. It is found that when the sample size is small (10, 100, etc.) the error distribution follows near normality but with the increase in sample sizes (200, 300, etc.) the error distribution gradually deviates much away from normality. Some procedures in SAS/BASE and SAS/STAT are used in the calculation leading to the final results.departmental bulletin pape

A study on rehabilitation of existing steel beam-to-column connection by means of rib-plates

    Get PDF
application/pdfExisting gymnasiums can not satisfy the load-carrying capacity in the seismic capacity evaluation because of non-load-carrying-capacity joint of beam-to-column connections. This reason is caused by using fillet-weld in stead of full-penetration-weld. In these connections rib-strengthening technique is generally employed as an earthquake resistant construction method. In this paper, experimental and FEM analytical study on the beam-to-column connection strengthened by the rib-plate was carried out. The following conclusions were obtained from the results: 1) Resistant mechanism of the rib-plate was clear, 2) position of the plastic hinge of the beam moved from the beam-end to the edge of the rib-plate.departmental bulletin pape

    Numerical analysis of multi-story -multi-layer steel-structure with wedge-device beam-to-column connection

    Get PDF
application/pdfBeam-to-column connections with a wedge device show linear-from-origin-type restoring force characteristics and can possess self-centering capability that reduces residual horizontal displacements of a structure acted by an earthquake force. The connection with the wedge device can be used at an outer column, but it can hardly to be applied to an inner column. An numerical- analytical study on frame with wedge-device beam-to-column connection was carried out to clarify deformation behavior of the multi-story structure. The analysis results showed that the reduced residual horizontal displacement was after the ground motion.departmental bulletin pape

    A Distributed Energy Conservation System

    Get PDF
application/pdfThis paper proposes a system for energy conservation to be connected to a network. The system consists of a global controller and several room-mounted distributed controllers. Each room-mounted distributed controller’s roll is to collect environmental information such as temperature and humidity and to transmit the information to the global controller. The global controller’s roll is to determine the preset temperatures of the air conditioner to be achieved between the energy conservation and the amenity. The proposed approach is applied to model system, and the results show that the system is able to improve energy conservation.departmental bulletin pape

An Autonomous Restoration method for Power System Distribution Network

    Get PDF
application/pdfThis paper proposes a multi-agent approach to the distribution system restoration for distribution system networks. The proposed method consists of several Sub Station Agents (SAGs) and Load Agents (LAGs). LAG corresponds to the customer load, while SAG is developed to act as a manager for the decision process. From the simulation results, it can be seen that the proposed multi-agent system could reach the right solution by making use of only local information. This means that the proposed multi-agent restoration system is a promising approach to more large-scale distribution networks.departmental bulletin pape

application/pdfWe investigated the element of the space & the form of the west / the east village of Heigun- Island. The main investigation methods are field work / interview investigation / documents investigation / map analysis / others. We conducted an investigation into the three element of House / Street & Waterway / Village on the element of the space & the form. As a result of investigation, next was provided mainly. ① About the house, the characteristic of the village individual was provided. We considered the characteristic of the village individual from House-form, Plan-form, Roof-form, Wall finish, Site-border, Common use space, Field, and others. ② About the street & waterway, the type of the street-form and the relations of the street & waterway became clear. ③ About the village, we was able to grasp the characteristic of the village-formation process, and the unit of house-grouping. ④ The life & the social composition of the village affected the three element of House / Street & Waterway / Village on the element of the space & the form.departmental bulletin pape

Zero divisor graphs by an ideal and mathematical education

    Get PDF
application/pdfLet R be a commutative ring and be an ideal of R . By S. P. Redmond, the ideal-based zero-divisor graph ΓI (R) is defined by the following statement: the vertices set is a set {x∈R-I|xy∈ I for some y∈R-I } and the edges set is a set {[x, y]} where [x, y] is an edge such that xy ∈I for distinct two vertices x and y. Let R = Z18 when Z is the integers and (18) is an ideal of Z generated by 18. This graph is easily understood by students. The coefficients of a characteristic polynomial are related to triangles, 4 cycles and 2-matchings. We use the educational diagrams. These results are useful to students.departmental bulletin pape
