Investigation report concerning the dwelling and thermal environment of Machiya in Miyajima-town
Get PDFapplication/pdfThis is a fundamental investigation to establish a viewpoint in the interval with the architectural planning studies and the environmental engineering studies． The purpose of this investigation is to demand the dwelling and thermal environmental characteristic of the old house “MACHIYA” in Miyajima-town. We investigated it with various courses, and got a result about the next contents. （１）We grasped the environmental characteristic of the old house “MACHIYA” (Inaba’s house). （２） We measured warm temperature environment, and clarified a difference of the temperature according to the space in the old house “MACHIYA” (Inaba’s house)． （３） The one of the characteristics of the old house “MACHIYA” (Inaba’s house) is a thing with the dirt floor space that is long in the depths. It became clear that the dirt floor space controlled a rise of the temperature of the dirt floor space by lowness of the surface temperature of the dirt floor． （４） When wind via the sky was strong, by what was drawn into the wind， a current of air rose from a courtyard（TUBONIWA）.departmental bulletin pape
Cloud Expansion of a Multi-User POS System
Get PDFapplication/pdfRecently, reducing labor cost and promoting purchasing rate/sales figures have been considered as extremely important task for food service industry including restaurants and fast-food chains. Against the background of these issues, the authors have participated in Machi-POS project, which is a service aiming to totally support management of independent restaurants within certain area by using data mining or simulation. As a part of Machi-POS project, this study already developed an inventory management system cooperating with POS and automatic menu-ordering capabilities with Web technology. The system make the improvement of service quality and sales possible with reducing the labor cost and the opportunity loss, and also provides POS services cheaply and efficiently by using personal potable digital devices with Wi-Fi and touch-sensitive panel. The usual system is for one restaurant, so this paper makes it available for multiple-user by using the Cloud technology. The multiple-user capability enables to share inventory information between restaurants. Therefore reducing disposal loss will be further promoted because inventory over and short is adjustable among some restaurants taking part in Machi-POS project.conference pape
An Approach to Education of Social Ethics (I)

At the same time, it raises various ethical issues in many fields such as global environmental preservation, information technology, engineering, medicine and so on. In such a social situation, universities in Japan have begun to add applied ethics to the curriculum. My university started teaching social ethics in 2010. This paper tries to present some of the ethical standpoints on which the applied ethics course is based. It is important to understand the historical currents of thought in traditional ethics. Basic study on rehabilitation of shearing force for exposed column-base in braced frame
Get PDFapplication/pdfIn a rehabilitation of an existing steel structure, column bases are often treated as reinforced elements. This paper proposes a new reinforcement of the column base. In the reinforcement method, existing anchor bolts of the column base resist an axial force and a shearing resistant plate resists a shearing force. Experimental study on the new reinforcement of the column base was carried out. The following conclusions were obtained from the experimental results: 1) The shearing resistant plate resisted the shearing force of a brace, and anchor bolts resisted the tensile force; 2) Tensile stress of the anchor bolt reached an yield stress; 3) The existing anchor bolts can be designed as a tension member, and this reinforcement of the column base by the shearing resistant plate is effective.departmental bulletin pape
Detection Car Ahead Using an In-Vehicle Monocular Camera

Especially development of the driver assistance system which combines an in-vehicle camera with image processing technology is an interesting subject. In this paper we described a basic technology for the driver assistance system using in-vehicle camera, which detects the car ahead in the in-vehicle camera image. Case Study on improvement strategy of walking traffic to realize the urban system based on walking

In consideration of population decreasing and aging, the improvement of pedestrian facilities as well as the bus system to support walking must be more important. In this paper, the effect of a moving walk system in the central area and a circular bus system in the suburban area were shown based on two case studies.
