Model base development education system for inverted model Puppy using MATLAB/simulink
application/pdfHiroshima Institute of Technology has been teaching integrated circuit designs and semiconductor processes since 1989. We made the lecture system about the fabrication of pMOS and CMOS FET using semiconductor processing and testing apparatus in Kitakyushu Science and Research Park for students. The education system was constructied from physical model to demonstration of electronic control using two-wheeler inverted model.departmental bulletin pape
Earthquake response analysis of steel frame with wedge-device connection
application/pdfEarthquake response analysis of steel frames with wedge-device connections were carried out, and it was shown that non-slip-type restoring force characteristics of the connections worked upon reducing the residual horizontal displacements of the frames after an earthquake oscillation. The number of analytical models was small and so application area of the conclusions was limited. The analytical study on the influence of wedge-device beam joints on damage distribution of the frames to an earthquake was not conducted. In this paper, analytical models are employed introducing column-bases and beam connections as variables and earthquake response analysis of the models is carried out to clarify the influence of the connections on seismic behavior of the frames.departmental bulletin pape
A proposal of multi agent based fault restoration method in electric power system
application/pdfRecently, the parallel distributed fault detecting method is required in electric power system, because the electric power network becomes complex connection among transformer substations. This paper describes the multi agent based fault restoration method to collect various data and diagnose the fault through the error events.conference pape
Interaction Support of Participants in Lecture with Micro-Blog Based Information Platform
application/pdfThe aim of this study is to offer interactivity for traditional-style lecture in university. This paper proposes a way to support interaction between participants in lecture including the lecturer and the students by using micro-blog based information transmission platform. As the platform, Twitter clonal Web application with LAMP is developed, and it is applied during lecture, where the interface of this system is updated in real time. All students can post the comments through web browser on cell/smart phone or laptop computer under their unique screen name. The system only accepts questions and comments about the contents of lecture. This scene is displayed by projector, so the lecturer can get to know the look of the whole of students such as the depth of understanding and difficulty level of the contents, and besides, students can cooperate with each other. The features of this system are implemented by reference to some previous works about discussion mining and collaborative learning.conference pape
Reflector Shaping Method of an Axially Symmetrical Spherical Reflector Antenna
application/pdfIn an axially symmetrical reflector antenna having the sub-reflector and the additional reflector of non-quadric surface between the spherical main reflector and the primary feed, we present the reflector shaping method to correct the spherical aberration and to control the amplitude distribution in the aperture of the main reflector.departmental bulletin pape
A study on non-compression braced-frame with exposed column-base
application/pdfNon-compression braces show perfectly elastic-plastic restoring force characteristics without both buckling and slip behavior because of wedge-device function. Those braces possess excellent energy absorption capability and slender members can be chosen as earthquake resistant braces. When strength of column bases is weaker than the braces, it is not clear that behavior of the column bases influences the restoring force characteristics of the braces in cyclic loadings. Experimental study on cyclic loading tests of non-compression-braced frames with exposed- type column bases was carried out to clarify resistant mechanism of the column base and cyclic behavior of the braced frame. The following conclusions were obtained from the experimental results: 1) The braced frames showed bi-linear-type cyclic curves in case of brace-strength less than von Mises yield condition of anchor-bolts; 2) The braces were yielding because of reduction of shear stress of anchor-bolts caused by friction of the base-plate and the foundation in case of brace-strength larger than von Mises yield condition of anchor-bolts.departmental bulletin pape
Plastic deformation capacity of shear panel damoer under seismic loading
application/pdfA shear-panel-damper, consists of a panel, surrounding four fl anges and stiffeners, is used as an aseismic hysteretic damper for buildings in Japan. A crack easily grows in the shear-panel-damper when the panel shows shear buckling during cyclic loading under severe earthquake. The shear buckling can be detected only by checking the maximum-deformation-angle. For relatively thin panel, when width-to-thickness ratio is large, plastic deformation capacity of the damper can be evaluated by using the maximum-deformation- angle. On the contrary, when width-to-thickness ratio is relatively small, very low cycle fatigue life is essential for relatively thick panel to predict the usage limit of the damper because failure pattern change where crack grows the tow of welding between panel and flanges. Estimate expression of plastic deformation capacity for shear-thick-panel-damper, which has parameters as normalized width-to-thickness-ratio and deformation-angel was presented. To show the validity of the estimation expression, cyclic loading tests of shear-panel-damper were performed to verify the expression. Also clumped panels subjected to cyclic in-plane shear deformation were analyzed using geometrical and material non-linear F. E. M. analysis to check shear buckling of the panel. These results showed the validity and effectiveness of the expression.departmental bulletin pape
DESIGN FORMULA FOR REHABILITATED ANGLE STEEL MEMBER USING CARBON FIBER REINFORCED PLASTIC PLATES
application/pdfThe authors have developed a tensile force strengthening method using bonded carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) plate to enhance the life of existing buildings. A rehabilitation technique for compressive force strengthening as well as tensile force strengthening is required to enhance the strength and deformation of steel structure members. This paper reports the results of compressive loading tests on an angle steel brace before and after rehabilitation using bonded CFRP plates. These results show enhanced compressive force carrying capacity and deformation capacity as follows. 1) Although buckling tests showed enhanced flexural rigidity, there was no increment of axial stiffness. 2) An elastic buckling formula using the experimental flexural rigidity from a three-point bending test, gave a conservative evaluation of load carrying capacity. 3) Taking into count the contribution of CFRP up to the elastic limit strain of the steel member, its load carrying capacity could be evaluated from the formula of Design Standard for Steel Structures of AIJ. 4) The CFRP must be bonded over the full length of the angle member.departmental bulletin pape
An Autonomous Distributed Voltage Control Method by using Multi-agent Approach
application/pdfThis paper introduced a method to maintain system voltage within the optimal range and prevent voltage instability phenomena before they occur employing multiple agents. The proposed system divided the traditional method to control voltage and reactive power into two sub problems, “voltage control” to adjust the secondary bus voltage of substations, and “reactive power control” to adjust the primary bus voltage. In the proposed system, the two kind of agents employed performed their respective roles well. The voltage control adjusts the secondary voltage in own substation and the primary voltage of same voltage class. In addition, in order to equalize the primary bus voltage among different substations, each substation adjusts the reactive power. In order to verify the performance of the proposed method, it has been applied to the model network system. The results confirm that our proposed method is able to control violent fluctuations in load.departmental bulletin pape
A Study of "White Cloth" in "Kagura" around the Chugoku Region
application/pdfFolk ritual “Kagura” is the nucleus of Japanese folk ritual tradition, which is one of the ethnic arts people have expressed in their life. We often observe white cloths in folk rituals or folk ritual “Kagura”. By investigating and analyzing many examples of the white cloths used in East Asian countries, we can clarify not only the formation and development of Japanese “Kagura” but also its fundamental meaning. In this article, the author reported some examples of white cloths that he observed in the Chugoku region and East Asian countries.departmental bulletin pape
