A Study Based on Questionnaires regarding "the Forming of Individual View of Vocation" : About the Change of Individual View of a Desirable Vocation through Personal Life Experiences
application/pdfWe compared the desirable vocation at the age of the high school first grader with the future dream at the age of the sixth grader. We argued a difference of the student who maintained vocational hope and the student who changed vocational hope. We insist on the significance of the career education. We examined the career of an athlete in particular.departmental bulletin pape
Analytical study on non-compression braced frame with exposed column-base
application/pdfNon-compression braced frames with slip-type exposed column-bases show various resistant mechanisms and lower elastic stiffness because of plastic elongation of anchor-bolts. Restoring force characteristics of the frames obtained from the experimental results can be predicted by suitable resistant mechanisms, though complicated resistant mechanisms need to be introduced. Therefore, non-slip-type exposed column-bases are employed to eliminate slip behavior of the column-bases because of bolt plastic elongation and cyclic curves of the braced frames can be evaluated by easy calculation.departmental bulletin pape
Experimental study on reinforcing method of exposed column-base in braced frame
application/pdfBrace strengthening methods are widely applied to seismic retrofit of low-story steel structures. Exposed column-bases are strengthened by increase of the number of anchor-bolts. Hole-in anchor-bolts are usually used, though performance of the bolts is different. A new idea for the method of the hole-in anchor-bolt resisting effectively needs to be proposed. Therefore, in this paper a new technique is proposed to strengthen the exposed column-base by use of the horizontal-displacement constraint plate. From experimental results, the proposed method can succeed in the rational resistant mechanism that the existing anchor-bolts resist the tensile axial force and the hole-in anchor-bolts resist the shearing force.departmental bulletin pape
A DESIGN FORMULA OF SHEAR PANEL DAMPER : Part 2 Damage Factor
application/pdfA shear-panel-damper, consists of a panel, surrounding four flanges and stiffeners, is used as an aseismic hysteretic damper for buildings in Japan. A crack easily grows in the shear-panel-damper when the panel shows shear buckling during cyclic loading under severe earthquake. The shear buckling can be detected only by checking the maximum-deformation- angle. For relatively thin panel, when width-to-thickness ratio is large, plastic deformation capacity of the damper can be evaluated by using the maximum-deformation-angle. On the contrary, when width-to-thickness ratio is relatively small, very low cycle fatigue life is essential for relatively thick panel to predict the usage limit of the damper because failure pattern change where crack grows the tow of welding between panel and flanges. Estimate expression of fatigue toughness for shear-thick-panel-damper, which has parameters as normalized width-to-thickness-ratio and deformation-angel was presented. To show the validity of the estimation expression, cyclic loading tests of shear-panel-damper were performed to verify the expression. The Applicability of the fatigue relation and linear accumulation damage rule to the damper is confirmed through non-stationary cyclic tests. These results showed the validity and effectiveness of the expression.departmental bulletin pape
On some inequalities for a trigonometric polynomial
application/pdfWe give an alternative proof of the Bernstein inequalities and the Szegö inequalities for trigonometric polynomials or polynomials. Later, we show that the nth polarization constant c(n,H) of the Hilbert space H equals 1.departmental bulletin pape
Integration of Restaurants’ POS System and Farmer’s Information System
application/pdfThe authors have developed an food inventory management system cooperating with POS system and web based automatic menu order system for small restaurants within a certain area for promoting resource recycling and improving operational efficiency. The system provides the opportunity which enables restaurant managers to analyze the underlying various demands of customers and to offer a chance to give back the analysis results to the service. The authors have also developed a farmer’s information system which provides information on what agricultural products are in demand by analyzing consumer consumption and market trends. This information can stabilize the economic sustainability of farming by improving farm management, and also the farmers can have a better idea of what crops to prioritize. Currently, the authors have addressed to integrate these systems for supporting distribution of foods from production to consumption. These systems will contribute to reduce the food loss, and at the same time, they will make the improvement of service quality. This paper shows the concept why the two different systems need to be integrated with focusing on the potential for environmental assistance.conference pape
Evaluation of earthquake resistant improvement performance of wooden walls using short members
application/pdfThis study aims to reuse timber building materials pulled down from an old existing house for earthquake-resistant improvement. Totally seven specimens, composed with four kinds of structural types, were used to subjected to static repeated load horizontally. The load carrying capacity, deformability, hysteretic energy absorption, and failure mode of the specimens were investigated. It is found that the specimens installed three sets of crossed short-diagonal members show the highest load-carrying capacity, those were about 2.0 of wall unit multiplier, which is equivalent to the wall with crossing braces of the same size cross-section. The hysteretic energy absorption quantities of these specimens were also large, comparing the other specimens. However, the members failed in splitting and brittle manner at the ultimate stage of loading, so there must be change in the failure mode.departmental bulletin pape
Haptical Learning Science System for Visually Impaired Students (1) : A Perspective
application/pdfThis paper proposes a Haptic Learning-Science System (HALS) which supports visually impaired students in learning science and mathematics of higher education. When we understand these subjects, we usually try to visualize a phenomenon with the help of our own mental image brought by visual experiences. Owing to the lack of such experiences, it is quite hard for them to have a mental image, and so they have serious difficulties in learning science. Taking advantage of the haptic device, HALS aims at supplying them with some haptical (virtual) experiences of three-dimensional objects and dynamical phenomena.departmental bulletin pape
Major Anatomy of 100 Yen Lighter : A Class of Learning by Experience Programmed in Freshman Seminar
application/pdfThe seminar entitled “Major Anatomy of 100 Yen Lighter” has been held in the first semester of our Institute since 1999. The purpose of the seminar is to motivate students to learn physics and materials science in a class of learning by experience. Five or six pairs of students are requested to clarify the lighting mechanism of a piezoelectric 100 yen lighter within 90 minutes. Each pair takes the lighter apart to pieces and finds the energy conversions playing essential roles in the lighting. The seminar was programmed in Freshman Seminar of two departments of electronics from 1999 to 2009 and selected as the most impressive one by the students from 2000 to 2005. The seminar also has been held as Laboratory Inspection built in HIT Intensive Program for students from the University of Illinois since 2002. The educational effects activating both Japanese and American students are shown in the seminar reproduced on this report.departmental bulletin pape
A study on population distribution and convenience of bus services
application/pdfIn this Paper, I stood in the viewpoint to promote the use of the bus which was the public transport in the possible department area that was residential area in the suburbs of Hiroshima-city and inspected it about the convenience of the bus of the possible department area of the present conditions. I was aimed at quantity of offer compared it with distribution of the population that considered working with an offer range of the service of the bus, and clarifying it whether you were appropriate in judgment to be concrete when I used the bus for a user whether an important bus stop was near. As a result, there was an insufficient district to a range taken the service of the bus and the transport capacity of the bus for the population with the use possibility, and it understood that it was thought to let you detour around a bus route to the populous district in the range that repositioning a bus stop or road circumstances permitted the populous place for the improvement of these problems.departmental bulletin pape
