    Measurement of lighting of sports facilities using drone

    application/pdfIn recent years, sports lighting of physical education facilities has changed from mercury lamps to LED lighting. The LED lighting has excellent ON/OFF and energy saving characteristics, and has become convenient to use. In sporting events, such as, volleyball, etc., athletes may face up to the ceiling and thus the source of illumination. Constant measures are needed to protect the eyes of these athletes. In this study, we describe the change from mercury lamps to LED lighting in the Kawasaki gymnasium. We investigated to reduction of glare when seen directly by humans in the gymnasium using a high intensity light source such as LED. In addition, we show three examples of the installed LED lighting in the arena. And finally, show a measurement data of three-dimensional brightness of the arena using a drone.departmental bulletin pape

    Splitting Tensile Strength of Concrete Obtained by Core Boring

    application/pdfTensile strength of concrete is directly related to the strength of the shear cracking, which influences the stiffness degradation of the RC member. Furthermore, the tensile strength affects the pull-out strength of the post installed anchor bolts in the retrofitting process. The tensile strength is estimated by the equation with the compressive strength. However, the previous study on the tensile strength of concrete of the existing buildings is not sufficient, therefore it is not clear that the current equations are applicable to those concrete. As such, the splitting test was conducted using a test specimen obtained from the same RC member, from which the test specimen for the compressive test was obtained. Splitting tensie tests were conducted with core cylinder. Variation of tensile strength obtained from the splitting test without supporting strips is considered. However, those strips in the splitting tests are not required in Japanese Industrial Standard, considering that the tensile strength from the splitting test without bearing strips is lower than the theoretical value.departmental bulletin pape

    A Study about war remains in Rijo-castle

    application/pdfThe anti-aircraft strategy operation room, which used to be a facility of the old Japanese army and still exists in the precincts of Rijo-Castle, is a structure exposed to radiation in 1945 when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. This structure has never been used since the end of World War II, and has become decrepit. No official documents of the structure remain, and the details of its present condition are not known well.|These facilities were also investigated the current year following fiscal year 2016. (1) made a drawing of the anti-aircraft war room more in-depth than an investigation, the interior where a crack around the ceiling of the approach structure in the anti-aircraft war room where was found newly was used, (2) the underground utility was checked around the anti-aircraft war room, related literature search was performed, in fiscal year 2015 the current year.|This structure was in Rijo-Castle, so all one which exists in Rijo-Castle couldn’t change the current state for a historical site, so it was to investigate in the area which can be done by non-destruction.|It's clear from an investigation that deterioration continues, and it's recommended that several ways will be taken for the preservation and some good use in the future.     Static Loading Test on Anti-symmetric Z-type NC Braced Frame with Eccentricity

    application/pdfThe authors proposed the anti-symmetric Z-type non-compression braced frame having seismic response reduction performance due to incremental torsional deformation. In previous papers, we clarify the anti-symmetric Z-type shows incremental torsional deformation characteristics during static and dynamic loading. However, since these results were from experiment with a non-eccentric specimen, actual situation of structural building is not reflect. In this report, static loading test on one-story one-span specimen with eccentric as well as non-eccentric specimen are carried out to clarify torsional deformation behavior of anti-symmetric Z-type NC braced frame.     Using ESP8266 with Low Power Consumption as an Edge Node Platform

    application/pdfCurrent consumption of the edge node platform ESP8266 has been evaluated. As a result, Modem-sleep and Light-sleep got nearly the specification values. Although the current consumption was about 4 times the specified value in Deep-sleep, the obtained value (37 μA) was sufficiently low. Another ambitious application is emergency delivery in the event of disaster. To apply the multicopter for the emergency delivery, larger load capacity, longer cruising distance, and higher-flying speed are required. One of the inevitable elements for these requirements to improve is reduction of energy consumption for flying and hovering.|One possible solution is enlargement of rotor size and lower rotor revolution speed. This paper reports the results of experimental investigation on effect of size and revolutionary speed of rotor for the relation between energy consumption and lift force.     application/pdfExposed column bases employed in middle-rise steel structures can be designed and analyzed using simplified models of restoring force characteristics. The models are described with maximum bending strength and elastic rotational stiffness of the exposed column base, but without additional bending resistant capability of column axial force. This paper describes response analyses of structures with column bases of full and simplified models and the following conclusions are obtained.|The response results of the simplified models are in good agreements with those of the full models. The worst results are overestimated by 30%. Thus, simplified models can be used for rational design of steel structures.departmental bulletin pape
