Full plastic bending strength with shearing force effect for H-shaped steel member on miner axis
application/pdfH-shaepd steel member had full plastic bending strength on collapse mechanism of structure. The principle to they conditions was normal stress reacting yield stress by means of flexure and axial force. However, normal stress reduced by shear stress in collapse motion, if shear force becomes dominant obtain from more smaller shear span ratio.|In this paper shown, H-shaped steel member on miner-axis full plastic bending strength acted on by shearing force and flexure, its computing by FEM analysis. That results showed, H-shaped steel member on miner-axis strength pays its attention to only flange and can calculate.departmental bulletin pape
Corrosion resistance of SUS304 stainless steel after electrolytic treatment with aqueous solution containing fluorine and the analysis of passive film
application/pdfThe corrosion resistance of SUS304 stainless steel before and after electrolytic treatment with aqueous solutions containing fluorine was investigated and the FE-TEM, XPS and TOF-SIMS analyses were conducted to the passive film. The corrosion resistance of the steel in acidic 6.0% FeCl3 solution was enhanced to more than twice by the electrolytic treatment, and the pitting potential of 2B surface in 1.0 M NaCl solution increased from 283 mV to 363 mV (vs. SSE). The enhancement is likely related to the formation of a stable, dense and uniform passive film, which should be attributed to the enrichment of chromium and the formation of stable chromium fluoride in the passive film, the removal of impurities and inclusions, and the suppression of specific adsorption of chloride ions due to the electronegative repulsion of fluoride.departmental bulletin pape
Assumptions of Linguistics
application/pdfLinguistics has treated language as a system, which is based on telementation as Roy Harris calls it. So thought is transferred from one person to another using a fixed code. However, communication accompanies extra-linguistic factors, which are eliminated from a fixed code. So it is not language that makes communication successful. Language is only a part of communication and serves as a medium among people in communities. In other words, words do not have meanings, which are usually thought to be conveyed from one person to another. Therefore, words serve as a medium to convey thoughts from one person to another. Can modern linguistics be ready for seriously considering arguments above? Or can it reject them as wrong ideas?departmental bulletin pape
A study on collapse mechanism of low story steel structure with brace and exposed column-base with horizontal displacement constraint plate
application/pdfThe authors show that clarifying the resistance mechanism of exposed column-base by installing a member restraining the horizontal displacement of the base plate on the exposed column-base with brace. In this paper, we performed a time history response analysis of a low-rise steel structure with an exposed columned brace with a horizontal displacement restraint, called horizontal displacement constraint plate, and based on the results, the columned-base yields with axial force only except for the collapse mechanism, we clarified that the displacement response of the low-rise steel structure can be expressed. Furthermore, the bearing shear of the horizontal displacement constraint plate can be obtained.departmental bulletin pape
The Number of Consecutive Heads in a Run
application/pdfHow many consecutive heads do we observe in a run of coin tossing of length n? Although the problem seems to be easy to answer, this would be actually a little bit tough when we try to prove it straightforwardly. The expected number of consecutive heads in a run is 3n-2/8 (n≧2) using the recursive formula.|However, if we define a solitary head coin such that a head coin is isolated by neighboring tail coin(s) in a run, the problem of how many solitary heads we observe in a run can be solved easily. The expected number of solitary heads in a run is n+2/8 (n≧2). Since the problem of solitary head coin becomes a dual problem of the above, the consequence of the problem of the consecutive heads is derived easily by considering the probability of a solitary coin appearance.departmental bulletin pape
Learning Analytics: A Relationship Between the LCT Ability Value and the Final Examination Grade
application/pdfTo find students at drop-out risk as early as possible, the LCT (learning check testing) results may be effectively used because the LCT is performed at every lecture even if the testing time duration is short and the difficulty to each question is not so difficult. Investigating the final examination results with the LCT ability, two kinds of placement test scores, and the number of successful LCT, we have found that the LCT information is more informative than those of others. It would be beneficial to use the accumulated LCT results during the semester.departmental bulletin pape
Trial of Engineering Ethics Education Using Moodle for the First-Year Students
application/pdfMoodle is a free open source software which is popularly used in education. In this paper, I report on my trial implementation of Moodle in the engineering ethics education for the first-year students at university. First, I introduce some activities of Moodle, which include feedback and choice, to implement active learning in the 2018 class of “Introduction to Environmental Ethics for Engineers”. Then, I examine current status and issues of using Moodle based on my experience. Finally, I summarize the main points made by this trial.departmental bulletin pape
A Study on the period for integrated studies in upper secondary schools in Japan ——With reference to the “TPE” of science course in France——
application/pdfThe class called TPE, which is developed in French upper secondary school for nearly 20 years since the introduction, is positioned close to the period of Integrated study in Japan. But how to develop the lessons is unique as the distinctive name symbolizes. Although it takes the style of a research project, peculiar restraints to the procedure are imposed like the group activities and the conditions of the theme setting, etc. Moreover, it is the subject of the baccalaureate examination as university entrance qualification examination; the written production and the oral examination are required. We outline the TPE and advanced the discussion of the Period of Integrated Study and other education while taking the viewpoint of science course.departmental bulletin pape
Study on the Local Structure of Lanthanum-Doped Strontium Titanate by Means of X-Ray Fluorescence Holography
広島工業大学(Hiroshima Institute of Technology)博士(工学)(Doctoral Dissertation)application/pdfStrontium titanate SrTiO3 of the cubic perovskite structure is a representative of dielectric crystals. Doping lanthanum atoms into SrTiO3 yields conductive mixed crystals Sr1-xLaxTiO3. Excess electrons are doped into the conduction band composed of the Ti-3d state, and then Ti4+ turn into Ti3+. Such electron-conductive perovskite materials have high utility value in thermoelectric materials of high Seebeck coefficients, conductive substrates of high-TC superconductor films and so on. Sr1-xLaxTiO3 also shows the high structural phase transition temperature and the large saturated spontaneous rotation angle of the TiO6 octahedra. In the present study, we carried out X-ray fluorescence holography using the La Lγ1 ray (La Lγ1 XFH) on Sr0.95La0.05TiO3 and obtained the three-dimensional local structure around the La atom at 297 K. The experimentally obtained X-ray fluorescence holograms and the power spectra of the holographic oscillations were reproduced by the atomic cluster model having the radius of 200 Å. The experimentally obtained local structure showed that the La atoms were doped into the Sr sites of the cubic perovskite structure of SrTiO3 and the La-Sr(La) lattice distance was slightly larger than the averaged lattice parameter of Sr0.95La0.05TiO3. The local structure around the La atom plays significant roles in the electron-conduction and the high phase transition temperature through the softenings of the optic and the elastic phonons, respectively. Based on the present study, we proposed the La Lγ1 XFH study on the electron-conduction and the structural phase transition of Sr0.95La0.05TiO3 nanocrystals.doctoral thesi
Anti-Chomskyans
application/pdfA Japanese linguist, Katsuhiko Tanaka says that Noam Chomsky interprets meanings of words without considering contexts, in which words are used. Furthermore, he claims that Chomsky derives meanings of words from deep structures. But according to Tanaka, deep structures are determined by extra-linguistic factors such as culture, situations, expectations and so on. So if Tanaka is correct, we cannot interpret meanings only from deep structures. Moreover, Tanaka insists that grammar is in language and is derived from language although Chomsky claims that grammar generates language. Tanaka’s thought about language is similar to Roy Harris’s integrational linguistics, according to which language is a medium that enables linguistic communication to be successful among people in communities. Harris also insists that words do not have any meanings at all just as the Keynesians claim that money, whether coins or bills, does not have any value at all.departmental bulletin pape
