審査結果の要旨 
 
本学位論文研究「干潟域に生息する微細藻類群集の動態に関する研究」は、我国の河口
干潟域に生息する微細藻類がどのような群集によって構成され、これらが干潟域に特有な
環境変動によって質的・量的にどのような影響を受けながら一次生産者として振舞ってい
るのかを研究したものである。 
東薗圭吾君は、同定が困難な干潟域に生息する微細藻類を含有する色素の差異によって
識別する化学的手法（Chemtax 法）を用いることで判別し、干潟の表層堆積物中に優占す
る底生微細藻類を明らかにするとともに、多くの淡水プランクトンを含有する河川水と、
沖合沿岸域から様々な植物プランクトンが流入することで、干潟域の微細藻類組成がどの
ように変動するのか検証を行った。その結果として、干潟の海水中には、珪藻、プラシノ
藻およびクリプト藻が優占種として出現し、表層堆積物では原則的に珪藻類が大きく優占
していることを明らかにした。一方で、秋季を中心にプラシノ藻およびクリプト藻の存在
比が明確に増加しており、降雨量の増加に伴い、河川水で優占していたこれらの淡水プラ
ンクトンが干潟域へ流下・堆積したものと予想している。干潟のみならず、周辺環境から
の付加も考慮し、その群集組成の変動を明らかにしたことは大きな研究成果と考えられる。 
また、上げ潮時と下げ潮時に干潟へ流入出するクロロフィル色素（Chl a）量の収支を一
潮汐間の観測から算出している。その結果として、高水温期を中心に、下げ潮時に干潟域
から沖合沿岸域への流出する Chl a 量は、上げ潮時に沖合沿岸域から干潟域へ流入する
Chl a 量よりも明瞭に多かったことから、下げ潮時に干潟域から流出してしまうバイオマ
スを上げ潮の流入時に大きな増殖活性により干潟域で維持する能力があることを見出した。
また、沖合沿岸域にフラッシュアウトされた微細藻類が干潟周辺の消費者に貢献している
可能性も示唆した。 
さらに一次生産速度の測定も実施しており、単位面積当たりの一次生産量は瀬戸内海全
体の平均値（gC/m2/day）とほぼ同じ範囲にあったが、夏季には 418 μgC/l/h という海域
でこれまでに全世界で報告された一次生産速度の中で最も高い値を記録した。瀬戸内海と
 
 
同じレベルの一次生産量であることも含め、これらの生産量が調査干潟の水深であるせい
ぜい 1 m 程度の水柱で得られているという観測結果は、干潟域の高い生産性を改めて示す
ものである。これに加え、年間を通じた現場観測と現場培養試験の結果から、調査干潟の
一次生産性は、栄養塩濃度と光量による制限をほとんど受けておらず、主に水温がその制
限要因であることも明らかにしている。 
 河口干潟は水産生物の幼少期に極めて重要な環境であることが知られているが、東薗圭
吾君が遂行した研究は、多くの小河川を抱える我国の沿岸環境において、その生物生産構
造を理解する上で重要な成果をもたらしたと思われる。 
 
学位論文公開審査会は平成 28 年 8 月 6 日に香川大学農学部において開催され、続いて開
催された学位論文審査会において慎重に審査を行った結果、審査委員が全員一致して博士
（農学）の学位を授与するに値すると判定した。

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is an important crop worldwide, and paddy fields are dominant 
land use form. With the predicted global warming, the effects of climate change on rice 
yield and quality have become major concerns. We studied micrometeorological 
environment and the modeling in rice paddy fields.  
The effects of micrometeorological conditions and vegetational factors, such as the 
growth stage and the canopy resistance (rc) on the energy budget in the rice paddy field 
were assessed. The rc model was developed by the function of solar radiation (St) and the 
vapor pressure deficit (VPD). Under higher St, rc was influenced by VPD more, and it 
meant stomatal aperture became sensible to VPD. It showed that rc was not directly related 
to Bowen ratio (Bo), which meant that rc did not account for the energy partitioning directly.  
Therefore, critical canopy resistance (rcc), defined as the canopy resistance when Bo was 
zero, was applied to standardize rc. It demonstrated that rc - rcc accounted for the energy 
partitioning directly. 
In order to mitigate the high temperature damage on rice growth, water ponding 
experiments were conducted to decrease leaf temperature (Tl) and panicle temperature (Tp) 
in two rice paddy fields. An experimental plot was set from July 8 to September 8 within 
the first conventionally water managed paddy field (cultivar Akitakomachi), and the other 
experimental plot was set within the second conventionally water managed paddy field 
(cultivar Nikomaru) from September 9 to 30, and water ponding was conducted in both 
plots every day. Tl and Tp Tl and Tp in the water ponding plot (Tl (WP), Tp (WP)) and 
conventionally water managed paddy field (Tl (Con ), Tp (Con )) were measured every two or 
three hours during daytime in every 10 cm canopy layer every day. Based on the measured 
results, water ponding decreased Tl and Tp consistently during daytime as a whole. In the 
first experimental paddy field, Tl (WP)  was 4.3 ℃  lower than Tl (Con ) ,  and Tp (WP) was 5.5 ℃  
lower than Tp (Con )  at largest. Under large St, high air temperature (Ta=32.77 ℃ ), low 
relative humidity (RH) and wind speed (u) conditions, Tp (WP)  was controlled to be 26.4 ℃ , 
which meant that Tp (WP) was 6.37 ℃  lower than Ta, while Tp (Con ) was 30.8 ℃  at 10:40 on

August 19. In the second experimental paddy field, Tl (WP) was 3.6 ℃  lower than Tl (Con ) ,  and 
Tp (WP) was 3.4 ℃  lower than Tp (Con )  at largest. Under larger St, higher Ta and lower RH 
conditions, water ponding was more effective to decrease Tl and Tp, thus mitigating the high 
temperature damage. 
To continuously monitor Tp to understand the growth impairment caused by heat stress 
in rice, we developed three-layer model, which consists of upper and lower rice canopy 
layers and water surface layer for predicting panicle temperature. In this model, the upper 
and lower canopy resistances were obtained by stomatal conductance and leaf area of each 
layer. Tp was predicted by solving radiation and heat balance equations of the panicle with 
modelled upper canopy temperature (Tc1) and lower canopy temperature (Tc2), in which the 
inclination factors of leaves and panicles (F1, F2 and Fp), the aerodynamic resistance 
between the panicle and atmosphere (rap), the panicle resistance for transpiration (rp), air 
temperature and humidity at the panicle’s height (Tac1 and eac1) were included. F1, F2 and Fp 
were decided by fitting the calculated transmissivity of downward solar radiation (TDSR) to 
the measured TDSR. The relationships between u and rap, between days after heading and rp 
were parameterized. Tac1 and eac1 were calculated from the resistances of the pathways of 
sensible and latent heat fluxes according to the Ohm’s law. The better agreements between 
measured and calculated Tc1,  Tc2 and Tp have indicated the three-layer model is a more 
reliable tool compared with one-layer or two-layer models to predict Tp.
