    Get PDF
Bauhinia forficata, commonly known as cow\u27s paw, is among the species most used for this purpose. Among the representatives of Bauhinia, the one with the largest number of studies regarding hypoglycemic and antidiabetic activity is the species mentioned. This is because, due to its pharmacological activities, several studies report its botanical aspects, chemical composition and effectiveness. This constant interest in its study is imperative for its safe and effective use. Therefore, the objective of this work is to provide information botany of these plants, which constitute a importance for the differentiation of species aiming at their correct use. Furthermore, given the medicinal and ornamental of the genre, aspects will be covered extremely pertinent agronomic criteria, since these promote studies of propagation strategies for species and their cultivation; whether they are intended for urban afforestation or planting in areas outside crops medicinal products as “windbreaks”

Dynamics of Financial Inclusion in India

    Get PDF
“Financial inclusion helps revitalize people out of poverty and can help speed economic development. It can draw more women into the mainstream of economic activity, harnessing their contributions to the society. Indhrawathi Sri Mulyani according to the Indonesian Finance Minister, a former World Bank Group head. The National Bureau of Economic Research claims that “12.4% of those in the top quartile of financial knowledge relied on books and newspapers as their primary source of financial knowledge, compared to only 3.9% for those in the lowest quartile of financial competence”. Growth that is inclusive can only occur via appropriate mechanisms that channel all their sources from top to bottom with innumerable sources from the economy.              Given that India has the largest rural population in the world, financial inclusion is a novel idea that uses creative methods to encourage rural residents to open bank accounts. The goal of financial inclusion is to offer banking and financial services to the whole population at a reasonable cost in a fair, transparent, and equitable manner. However, low-income households frequently do not have access to bank accounts and must pay for numerous visits and time to obtain banking services, such as opening a savings account or obtaining a loan. As a result, these families find it more challenging to save money and make long-term financial plans.  The concept of financial inclusion, its evolution, IFI, needs, benefits, customer engagement strategies, initiatives, expansion and modes of financial inclusion like ATMs branch openings, loan utilization, mobile transactions, etc. are all insisted upon in this comprehensive study. An attempt is made to address the general topic of financial inclusion in India in this paper

Through this exploration, one discovers that the issue of racial conflicts between Blacks and Whites in the United States is still evident in Ernest James Gaines’s A Lesson Before Dying. For, the author’s portrayal of black characters in general as victims of rejection and of Jefferson in particular as victim of accusationbecause of his blackness in this great nation, recalls the racist atmosphere that prevailed in American society during the colonial era. His account for this black male character who is killed mercilessly by his white peers for an uncommitted crime, appears as a way for him to inform the reader about the plight of all black Americans in this “so-called democratic nation” which rejects its own citizens on behalf of racial belonging. This act of murder endured by this black character attests of the white man’s eagerness to create an America deprived of black citizens

Relationship between Purpose in Life and Psychological Distress among Older Adults

    Get PDF
The study investigates the relationship between psychological distress and purpose in life among older adults, along with gender differences in these variables. The sample consists of 80 older adults aged 65 to 79 years, selected from various parts of Kerala, primarily Palakkad, using a purposive sampling method to ensure equal representation of genders and minimize bias. The participants include 40 males and 40 females. Results reveal a significant negative correlation between purpose in life and psychological distress, indicating that higher purpose in life is associated with lower psychological distress. Furthermore, a t-test analysis shows no significant gender difference in purpose in life, suggesting similar perceptions of life purpose among male and female participants. However, a significant gender difference is observed in psychological well-being with females reporting higher levels of distress than males. These findings highlight the protective role of purpose in life against psychological distress and the need for gender-sensitive interventions to support older adults\u27 mental well-being

Evaluation of role of trace elements in oral submucous fibrosis patients.

    Get PDF
Background: This study was conducted to assess the role of trace elements in oral submucous fibrosis patients. Material and methods: The study sample comprised 150 participants, with 100 individuals diagnosed with OSMF being the cases group and 50 persons as the control group. Histopathological investigation revealed the presence of OSMF in all of the cases. The blood samples were collected from a total of 150 individuals and were then analysed using a digital autoanalyzer photometer. The purpose of this analysis was to determine the serum levels of copper using the colorimetric method. Statistical analysis was used to compare the results obtained for both cases and controls. Results: It was observed that the concentrations of copper were reduced in the control group and raised in study group. Conclusion: The gold standard for diagnosing Oral Submucous Fibrosis (OSMF) is biopsy; however, this approach is invasive and time-consuming. Currently, numerous contemporary advancements are employed to facilitate the early detection of OSMF and mitigate its development towards advanced and reversible phases. Trace elements have the potential to function as prognostic and diagnostic markers for patients with oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF)

An Automated Solar Panels Monitoring and Cleaning System: A Case Study of Kaduna Polytechnic, Nigeria.

    Get PDF
The use of Photo Voltaic (PV) panels for the generation of electricity has received a lot of attention from both industries and academia as a renewable energy source due to inadequate electricity from the grid, its low cost as well as environmental benefits. However, the ef?ciency of solar panels can be signi?cantly affected by major issues such as the accumulation of dust or dirt particles on their surfaces. Therefore, this study presents the design and construction of an automatic based PV monitoring and cleaning system. The system comprises electromechanical parts such as microcontroller, servo motor, submersible pump, voltage sensor, Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) sensor and metal frame. In addition, a modified Blynk application was integrated with the system to remotely monitor and control the performance of the panels. Several tests were carried out by using 150Watts panel installed in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Kaduna Polytechnic. The experimental results obtained shows that the output power of the panel decreases as the dust or dirt particles increases. However, the performance of the panel improved when the cleaning process was carried using the proposed methodology in terms of output voltage, current, and power levels with a value of 13.76%, 17.46%, and 33.61% respectively

Tobacco consumption, in all its forms, is harmful to health. This study aimed to determine young people\u27s level of knowledge about the health risks associated with tobacco consumption. The sampling used in this research was non-probabilistic for convenience. Young people encountered in pubs where tobacco was consumed were interviewed using a structured interview guide, resulting in a sample of 100 subjects. Data analysis was descriptive, based on the calculation of frequencies and proportions. Of the participants, 96% were male and 4% were female; 39% were aged between 15 and 18, followed by those aged between 23 and 26, who accounted for 28%; 50% had completed secondary school, 20% primary school and 18% higher education, while 12% had no education. Concerning the knowledge of the young people questioned, 65% cirrhosis of the liver as a major risk. In terms of strategies to combat tobacco consumption among young people, 29% advocated a total ban on tobacco production, while 20% felt that young people should be prevented from smoking, and 21% suggested halting the activities of vendors and smokers. The conclusions of this study convincingly demonstrate that tobacco consumption mainly affects the youngest individuals, a deeply worrying finding and a major source of concern. Despite adequate awareness among young people of the health risks associated with tobacco consumption, it is clear that they continue to use it
