Stepwise improvement of flower color by synchrotron-light re-irradiation in yellow-flowered standard chrysanthemum
Get PDFIn this study, the efficacy of synchrotron-light re-irradiation in deepening the color of yellow-flowered standard chrysanthemum mutants was investigated. After the first irradiation, mutant flowers with a deeper yellow color than the original flower color were obtained. Subsequent re-irradiation produced new mutants with deeper yellow-colored flowers than those obtained by the first irradiation. The number of deep-colored mutants per cutting was greatest under the 22-Gy irradiation treatment. These results suggested that stepwise improvement of flower color by re-irradiation with synchrotron-light should be a useful tool for deepening of the color of yellow-flowered standard chrysanthemum．黄色花輪ギクにおける花色の濃色化を目的として，シンクロトロン光の繰り返し照射について調査した. その結果，得られた濃色変異個体にシンクロトロン光を改めて照射することにより，さらに濃色化した変異個体が得られ，照射処理した挿し穂当たりの濃色変異個体数は22Gy照射区において高い値を示した．以上のことから，シンクロトロン光の繰り返し照射による花色の段階的な改良は，黄色花輪ギクにおける花色の濃色化に有効な手法であることが示唆された．departmental bulletin pape

Relationship between [18F]FDG PET/CT and metabolomics in patients with colorectal cancer
Get PDF香川大学Kagawa University博士（医学）Introduction: Advances in metabolomics have significantly improved cancer detection, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis.Objectives: To investigate the relationship between metabolic tumor volume (MTV) using 2-deoxy-2-[18F]fluoro-D-glucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET)/ computed tomography (CT) and metabolomics data in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC).Methods: The metabolome in tumor tissues was analyzed using capillary electrophoresis time-of-flight mass spectrometry in 33 patients with newly diagnosed CRC who underwent FDG PET/CT before treatment and had tumor tissue post-surgery. Based on the FDG PET data, MTV was calculated and was dichotomized according to the median value, and tumors were divided into low-MTV and high-MTV tumors. Metabolomics data were compared between the low-MTV and high-MTV tumors.Results: The levels of most glycolysis-related metabolites were not different between low-MTV and high-MTV tumors. The level of component of the initial part of the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, citrate, was significantly lower in the high-MTV tumor than in the low-MTV tumor. The TCA intermediate succinate level was significantly higher in the high-MTV tumor than in the low-MTV tumor. In contrast, the TCA intermediate fumarate level was significantly lower in the high-MTV tumor than in the low-MTV tumor. The levels of many amino acids were significantly higher in the high-MTV tumor than in the low-MTV tumor.Conclusions: Although preliminary, these results suggest that tumors with high FDG metabolism in CRC may obtain more energy by using a reverse reaction of the TCA cycle and amino-acid metabolism. 児童生徒のエンゲージメントを高める授業の方法：日本とアメリカの学級経営の比較分析
Get PDFThis study examines the educational principles and practices of Japanese Homeroom Activities （HA） and U.S. Classroom Management （CM） to identify opportunities for cross-cultural adaptation and strategies to enhance student engagement. By employing content analysis and thematic analysis, seven core themes were identified, including “Ideal Classroom and Communication,” “Student-Centered Learning and Outcomes,” and “Reflection and Innovation.” These themes highlight the shared goals of fostering inclusivity and engagement while revealing distinct approaches shaped by cultural contexts—HA’s collectivist ethos versus CM’s structured, individualistic strategies.The findings underscore the potential for integrating reflective practices and emotional support from CM into HA while adopting student-led initiatives and collaborative practices from HA into CM. These adaptations could address resource limitations in HA and engagement challenges in CM, fostering hybrid approaches that balance autonomy with structure. Despite its contributions, the study acknowledges challenges in direct integration due to cultural differences and methodological reliance on textual data.Future research should explore pilot programs and interdisciplinary collaborations to test the feasibility and impact of hybrid pedagogical models in diverse educational settings.
