Actual Conditions of Telenursing in Home-Visit Nursing Station -Focusing on regional characteristics and workshop participation

    Get PDF
One measure to improve home nursing care in depopulated areas is "telenursing," which provides nursing care through information and communication technologies (ICT) and telecommunications. While regional disparities in communication environments and a lack of information literacy have been highlighted, it is assumed that the number of people with telenursing experience and the ICTs they use differ depending on regional characteristics and whether they participate in training sessions. However, the actual situation has not been clarified yet. This study aimed to clarify telenursing in home healthcare nursing offices, focusing on regional characteristics and participation in training sessions. A self-administered, anonymous questionnaire survey was administered to 2,000 nurses working in home-visit nursing stations nationwide through the mail, descriptive statistics were calculated, and x-square tests were conducted. Chi-square tests were performed with a significance level of less than 5% to test the association between each item and regional characteristics (depopulated or urban) and whether the respondents participated in training programs. Responses were obtained from 213 respondents (10. 7% response rate), and 204 valid responses were received (95.8%). The analysis revealed that approximately 70% of home-visiting nurses use ICT. In depopulated areas, significantly fewer nurses used ICT and significantly more used faxes in nursing collaboration. Significantly more participants in the workshop group had experienced telenursing. More nurses use ICT for collaboration between nursing and other professions and video calls in their nursing practice. The results suggest that the ease of introducing tools and information literacy influence telenursing. To disseminate telenursing, we recommend developing a nationwide training system, enhancing training content specific to ICT that is easy to introduce.departmental bulletin pape

The life story of migrated to Tsunami affected area. A study of migrants to Kesennuma city after the Great East Japan Earthquake

    Get PDF
This report presents the results of analyzing the motives, etc. of the people who migrated to Kesennuma in Miyagi Prefecture after the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami. Migration to a different region within Japan, especially to non-metropolitan areas, has become a trend since the second half of the aughts. Policies related to countryside revitalization implemented since 2014 to address the concentration of population in the Tokyo metropolitan area have improved the environment for people wishing to migrate to rural areas. Many people also subsequently moved to the disaster-stricken area to participate in volunteer activities, and have continued to live there. Further, various factors during the recovery and reconstruction process contributed to the acceleration of population decline in the disaster-stricken area. Therefore, even though the number of external migrants due to the disaster is limited, it is expected to play a certain role in the sustainable development of the region. In this study, semi-structured interviews were conducted with eight individuals who moved to Kesennuma after the earthquake. Participants were chosen from those who had moved to Kesennuma in Miyagi Prefecture from other prefectures or municipalities after the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami, and at least three years had passed since their migration at the time of the interview. The results of the analysis confirmed that the primary reasons for migration were "assistance for disaster recovery and reconstruction," "formation of attachment to the region," and "marriage." We were also able to confirm the formation of ties between local residents and migrants, and amongst migrants. In addition, we identified factors characteristic of migration to disaster-stricken areas.departmental bulletin pape

Plural Weak Definite NPs: The Impact of Ll Definite Articles and Some Educational Strategies for Proficiency Acquisition in Ll Japanese Speakers

    Get PDF
The study shows that mastery of weak definite NPs in L2 English is likely to be enhanced by the development of the definite article in Ll. This is evident in our comparison of Ll speakers of Finnish and Czech, where the article is evolving but weak definite NPs are not yet used, and Ll speakers of Japanese, lacking the article. The speakers' proficiency in English plural weak definite NPs aligned in the same order with the article's evolution (Finnish > Czech > Japanese). While the article might possibly come into being in the distant future in Japanese, education should address Ll Japanese speakers' understanding of the NPs. Although 'the + plural NP's are inherently inclusive of all possible referents in the common ground, there are weak definite NPs where such inclusivity is pragmatically not the case; many Ll Japanese speakers, however, may mistakenly assume 'the + plural NP's always refer to all. Furthermore, emphasis should be on cases where speakers' intention to refer to subsets fails due to their cognitive inseparability from the rest, leading to the whole aggregates, as proxies, being referred to with 'the + plural NP's.departmental bulletin pape

Alcohol-Drinking Experiences Among the Young Generation and the Process by which They Give Meaning to Such Experiences

    Get PDF
This study aimed to clarify the temporal process by which young generation (aged 29 to 39) have alcohol-drinking experiences and give meaning to such experiences. Drinking experiences were compared between regular drinkers and people who rarely drink. This comparison yielded two findings. First, lifestyle changes accompanying the transition into the adult workforce influence the entrenchment of young generation's drinking habit. Two factors explaining drinking patterns were identified: When young generation drink at increasingly frequent intervals, they become increasingly amenable to solo-drinking. However, when young generation drink less frequently over time, they become more aware of non-drinking companions. Second, the results suggest that young generation give meaning to the experiences as follows: They initially perceive drinking as a life experience. Over time, they start perceiving drinking as an occasion in which they are conscious of their drinking companions, and then start perceiving it as an opportunity to make new friends or as an occasion to enjoy time alone. A different pattern was observed among young generation who now rarely drink After giving meaning to their drinking experiences, they perceived drinking as an occasion where they drink a moderate amount in company. Thus, perceptions of drinking vary by time; the meaning people give to drinking develops in the course of regular drinking.departmental bulletin pape

A Study on the Building of Resource Networks in the Project Design Process by Local Vitalization Cooperator. In the case of the Local Vitalization Cooperator project called "Good Movement" in Rifu.

    Get PDF
This study discusses the implementation system of the Local Vitalization Cooperator project called “Good Movement” that is taking place in Rifu, Miyagi Prefecture. In Japan, the declining population, declining birthrate, and aging population as well as the concentration of people in metropolitan areas are perceived as issues. The “Local Vitalization Cooperator” system is spreading as one possible solution to these issues under the present circumstances. One assumed career path for Local Vitalization Cooperator is to start a business to “permanently settle and become established,” which is the project aim. With regard to careers after the end of a term of office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has developed a set of support measures for cooperators who wish to start their own businesses. In Rifu, the “Good Movement” was launched in September 2023 with the aim of creating a lively community. The trustees created a limited company. As of the end of May 2024, a total of 14 cooperators are working on six projects. More specifically, the six projects are “Agricultural Support, “Events,” “Branding,” “Saunas,” “Sports,” and “Good Sleep Town.” Moreover, the “Good Movement” provides opportunities for regular communication among business stakeholders, such as regular meetings, group trainings, and individual interviews, centered on creating a limited company. Furthermore, a system exists for each project to receive advise from experts with specialized knowledge and know-how in their respective fields. Through these mechanisms, a support system has been established for the cooperators’ project conceptualization process.departmental bulletin pape

Learning Behavior at the Initial Stage of Career Development

    Get PDF
This study was conducted to compare differences in learning behaviors among age groups of the members of an organization at the initial stage of their career development and to identify the characteristics of such differences. First, an Hvalue corrected for ties= 20.9868 > 11.3449 = x2 (0.99) and a P value corrected for ties = 0.0001 2.3263 = Z (0.99) and the Pvalue corrected for ties = l.52E-06 0.01 were extracted as a result of the Mann-Whitney test, which proved that no significant difference exists between the two groups. Such analytical results demonstrated that the level of the learning behavior of people in their 20s was high and that they would learn from both successful and unsuccessful experiences. The final section presents conclusions of the study and directions for the development and expansion of related future studies. *This study is a part of research findings supported by a JSPS Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (23K01536) "Stress Coping for Early Career Development: Model Designing Including LGBTQ. Get PDF
Objective: This SimMaster Program Basic, an extra-curricular educational activity for sophomore nursing students had three objectives: firstly, to enhance the accuracy of blood pressure measurements, a fundamental skill among vital sign assessments; secondly, to create mechanisms that encourage the spontaneous generation of learning opportunities outside of class; and thirdly, to enrich university life through cross-grade interactions. Methods: Eleven sophomore nursing students applied to participate in this program. The program, conducted over six sessions, was divided into three components: a "Knowledge Program" focused on the principles of blood pressure measurement, a "Skills Program" centered on the use of simulator models, and a" Special Program" consisting of a lecture on clinical blood pressure measurement by practicing nurses. Additionally, a final test was administered to assess the students' knowledge, skills, and attitudes regarding blood pressure measurement. Results: Participating students deepened their knowledge of blood pressure measurement principles, reaffirmed their understanding and skills in conducting measurements, and gained numerous interactions from their involvement with one another. On the other hand, challenges such as the time constraints of extracurricular activities, the inadequate establishment of fundamental knowledge and skills, and the continuity of the program emerged as issues. Discussion: Through this program, students were encouraged to deepen their own understanding by teaching each other and to foster an attitude of proactive learning. It is necessary to support the use of learning resources that allow for repetitive study and to promote cooperative learning.departmental bulletin pape
