Impact of Climate Change on Forest Ecosystems: An Exploratory Analysis
Get PDFEste artículo examina el impacto del cambio climático en los ecosistemas forestales, destacando las principales alteraciones causadas por el incremento de fenómenos climáticos extremos, como el aumento de la temperatura y la variación en los patrones de precipitación. El objetivo principal del estudio es identificar los riesgos que enfrenta la biodiversidad forestal y proponer estrategias adaptativas para mitigar estos efectos. La metodología se basa en una revisión bibliográfica cualitativa, utilizando fuentes científicas que analizan la relación entre el cambio climático y la resiliencia forestal. Los resultados muestran que el cambio climático afecta tanto la estructura como la funcionalidad de los ecosistemas, reduciendo la capacidad de los bosques para actuar como sumideros de carbono y aumentando la mortalidad de especies endémicas. Además, se evidencia que la fragmentación de hábitats y las alteraciones en las interacciones ecológicas agravan la situación. La discusión sugiere que el manejo forestal adaptativo y la creación de áreas protegidas son claves para mejorar la resiliencia de los bosques. The main objective of the study is to identify the risks faced by forest biodiversity and propose adaptive strategies to mitigate these effects. The methodology is based on a qualitative literature review, using scientific sources that analyze the relationship between climate change and forest resilience. The results show that climate change affects both the structure and functionality of ecosystems, reducing the capacity of forests to act as carbon sinks and increasing the mortality of endemic species. In addition, it is evident that habitat fragmentation and alterations in ecological interactions aggravate the situation. The discussion suggests that adaptive forest management and the creation of protected areas are key to improving forest resilience. In conclusion, the implementation of global emission reduction policies, together with sustainable forest management, is crucial to mitigate the negative impacts of climate change on forest ecosystem
Teaching strategies in virtual environments: A critical analysis of educational effectiveness.
Get PDFThe study examines the effectiveness of pedagogical strategies in virtual environments, the use of which increased dramatically during the COVID-19 pandemic. The objective is to identify the most effective practices and provide recommendations for improvement. A qualitative methodology of literature review was used, selecting studies between 2000 and 2023 that addressed educational strategies in virtual environments. The results show that teacher-student interaction is essential, highlighting synchronous and asynchronous modalities to maintain engagement. Personalization of learning, through adaptive platforms and flexible learning paths, facilitates greater performance and autonomy. In addition, the use of interactive technologies, such as gamification and simulations, increases motivation and understanding of complex concepts. It is concluded that, although these strategies improve learning, their effectiveness depends on technological accessibility and teacher training. Se utilizó una metodología cualitativa de revisión bibliográfica, seleccionando estudios entre 2000 y 2023 que abordaran estrategias educativas en entornos virtuales. Los resultados muestran que la interacción docente-estudiante es esencial, destacándose las modalidades sincrónicas y asincrónicas para mantener el compromiso. La personalización del aprendizaje, a través de plataformas adaptativas y rutas de aprendizaje flexibles, facilita un mayor rendimiento y autonomía. Además, el uso de tecnologías interactivas, como la gamificación y simulaciones, aumenta la motivación y la comprensión de conceptos complejos. Evolution and challenges of personal data protection in the context of globalization
Get PDFThe protection of personal data faces challenges in a context of globalization and accelerated digitization, where the international exchange of information exposes privacy risks. This study conducts a literature review to analyze the evolution of data protection regulations, focusing on the impact of the European Union\u27s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in various regions. Methods include identifying GDPR-inspired regulations adapted in countries such as Brazil and Japan, and analyzing conflicts between privacy and national security, where some jurisdictions prioritize surveillance. The findings show that, although the GDPR establishes a robust regulatory framework, its implementation faces limitations due to cultural, economic and political differences. In countries with lower regulatory capacity, such as in Latin America and Africa, insufficient resources hinder effective oversight. The study concludes that global harmonization of data protection regulations is a pending challenge, and highlights the need for a collaborative approach and robust infrastructure to enable effective data protection that is adaptable to regional contexts.La protección de datos personales enfrenta desafíos en un contexto de globalización y digitalización acelerada, donde el intercambio de información a nivel internacional expone a riesgos de privacidad. Este estudio realiza una revisión bibliográfica para analizar la evolución de las normativas de protección de datos, centrada en el impacto del Reglamento General de Protección de Datos (GDPR) de la Unión Europea en diversas regiones. Los métodos incluyen la identificación de normativas inspiradas en el GDPR, adaptadas en países como Brasil y Japón, y el análisis de conflictos entre privacidad y seguridad nacional, donde algunas jurisdicciones priorizan la vigilancia. Los hallazgos muestran que, aunque el GDPR establece un marco regulatorio robusto, su implementación enfrenta limitaciones debido a diferencias culturales, económicas y políticas. En países con menor capacidad regulatoria, como en América Latina y África, los recursos insuficientes obstaculizan una supervisión efectiva. Effects of Plastic Pollution on Marine Ecosystems: An Updated Analysis
Get PDFPlastic pollution in the oceans represents a significant threat to marine biodiversity and coastal ecosystems. This study analyzes the effects of microplastics and plastic debris, focusing on their impact on species at different trophic levels and ecosystem health. Through a comprehensive review of scientific literature from databases such as Scopus and Web of Science, recent research on the toxicological consequences of plastics and possible solutions were selected. The results show that microplastics are ingested by a wide variety of organisms, causing digestive blockages, cell damage and reproductive alterations, as well as serving as vectors of chemical contaminants. Although current policies have been successful in reducing the use of single-use plastics, the lack of adequate recycling and composting infrastructure limits the effectiveness of these measures. The study concludes that coordinated global action, with emphasis on the transition to a circular economy and the development of innovative technologies, is required to mitigate the devastating impacts of plastic pollution in the oceans.La contaminación plástica en los océanos representa una amenaza significativa para la biodiversidad marina y los ecosistemas costeros. Este estudio analiza los efectos de los microplásticos y los residuos plásticos, centrándose en su impacto en especies a distintos niveles tróficos y la salud de los ecosistemas. Mediante una revisión exhaustiva de literatura científica de bases de datos como Scopus y Web of Science, se seleccionaron investigaciones recientes sobre las consecuencias toxicológicas de los plásticos y las posibles soluciones. Los resultados muestran que los microplásticos son ingeridos por una amplia variedad de organismos, provocando bloqueos digestivos, daño celular y alteraciones reproductivas, además de servir como vectores de contaminantes químicos. Aunque las políticas actuales han logrado reducir el uso de plásticos de un solo uso, la falta de infraestructuras adecuadas de reciclaje y compostaje limita la efectividad de estas medidas. Advances in beef cattle genetics and current research trends
Get PDFThis article reviews advances in bovine genetics and their implications for livestock sustainability. Given the need to improve productivity and face the challenges of climate change, advanced techniques such as next-generation sequencing and gene editing (CRISPR) have been applied. For the analysis, an exhaustive review of recent literature in indexed databases was carried out, highlighting studies that implement genomic sequencing to identify polymorphisms and desirable traits in cattle. The results show that genomic selection has optimized feed efficiency and disease resistance, contributing to the reduction of the environmental footprint. Improved climatic adaptability of cattle is also observed through the selection of genetic variants associated with heat tolerance and pathogen resistance. However, ethical and regulatory challenges remain, as well as the need to maintain genetic diversity to ensure long-term viability. In conclusion, these advances promote more productive and sustainable livestock, although a balanced approach that considers the conservation of genetic variability is required.Este artículo revisa los avances en genética bovina y sus implicaciones para la sostenibilidad ganadera. Ante la necesidad de mejorar la productividad y enfrentar los desafíos del cambio climático, se han aplicado técnicas avanzadas como la secuenciación de nueva generación y la edición genética (CRISPR). Para el análisis, se realizó una revisión exhaustiva de literatura reciente en bases de datos indexadas, destacando estudios que implementan la secuenciación genómica para identificar polimorfismos y características deseables en el ganado. Los resultados muestran que la selección genómica ha optimizado la eficiencia alimentaria y la resistencia a enfermedades, contribuyendo a la reducción de la huella ambiental. También se observa una mejora en la adaptabilidad climática del ganado mediante la selección de variantes genéticas asociadas con tolerancia al calor y resistencia a patógenos. Sin embargo, persisten desafíos éticos y regulatorios, así como la necesidad de mantener la diversidad genética para asegurar la viabilidad a largo plazo. En conclusión, estos avances promueven una ganadería más productiva y sostenible, aunque se requiere un enfoque equilibrado que contemple la conservación de la variabilidad genética

The methodology employed consisted of a literature review of articles in the Scopus database, focusing on studies between 2019 and 2024 that analyze practices for attracting and retaining innovative human capital. The results highlight that practices such as inclusion, continuous professional development, real-time feedback and strengthening the employer brand contribute significantly to talent satisfaction and retention. The discussion shows that the combination of advanced technology, a supportive culture and personal growth opportunities responds to current employee expectations and strengthens organizational commitment. Advances in regenerative medicine, review of recent stem cell research.
Get PDFThe paper reviews recent advances in the use of stem cells in regenerative medicine, highlighting their potential to treat degenerative diseases for which there are no effective treatments. It focused on preclinical studies and clinical trials published in the last five years, addressing both improvements in stem cell differentiation and expansion techniques, as well as applications in cardiac, bone and neurodegenerative regeneration. The use of nanomaterials, 3D bioprinting and growth factors has improved the efficiency of cell differentiation and cell integration after transplantation. However, challenges remain, such as the risk of tumorigenicity and immune rejection. The conclusions suggest that, although the technology has advanced, further research is needed to overcome technical and ethical challenges before widespread clinical implementation.El documento revisa los avances recientes en el uso de células madre en la medicina regenerativa, destacando su potencial para tratar enfermedades degenerativas que no cuentan con tratamientos efectivos. Se centró en estudios preclínicos y ensayos clínicos publicados en los últimos cinco años, abordando tanto las mejoras en técnicas de diferenciación y expansión de células madre, como las aplicaciones en regeneración cardíaca, ósea y neurodegenerativa. El uso de nanomateriales, bioimpresión 3D y factores de crecimiento ha mejorado la eficiencia en la diferenciación celular y la integración de las células tras el trasplante. Sin embargo, persisten retos como el riesgo de tumorigenicidad y rechazo inmunológico. Las conclusiones sugieren que, aunque la tecnología ha avanzado, es necesario continuar investigando para superar los desafíos técnicos y éticos antes de su implementación clínica generalizada
Current practices and challenges in sustainable forest management
Get PDFThis study analyzes current practices and challenges in sustainable forest management, in a context of climate change and increasing pressure on ecosystems. A comprehensive search of the Scopus database was conducted, selecting 545 articles from the year 2024 related to sustainable forest management. The analysis focused on identifying best conservation and restoration practices, as well as obstacles to their implementation, such as biodiversity loss, forest fires and lack of adequate funding. Results indicate that the incorporation of technologies such as drones and remote sensing improves forest monitoring, while agroforestry approaches and species diversification increase ecosystem resilience to extreme weather events. However, conflicts between conservation and economic interests, along with lack of financial resources, remain significant challenges. Community participation was highlighted as a key factor for the success of initiatives, especially through co-management and environmental education. In conclusion, the study suggests that a holistic approach, combining technology, community participation and long-term policies, is fundamental to achieving sustainable forest management and meeting the challenges of climate change.Este estudio analiza las prácticas actuales y los desafíos en la gestión forestal sostenible, en un contexto de cambio climático y creciente presión sobre los ecosistemas. Se llevó a cabo una búsqueda exhaustiva en la base de datos Scopus, seleccionando 545 artículos del año 2024 relacionados con la gestión forestal sostenible. El análisis se centró en identificar las mejores prácticas de conservación y restauración, así como en los obstáculos para su implementación, como la pérdida de biodiversidad, los incendios forestales y la falta de financiamiento adecuado. Los resultados indican que la incorporación de tecnologías como los drones y los sensores remotos mejora el monitoreo de los bosques, mientras que los enfoques agroforestales y la diversificación de especies aumentan la resiliencia de los ecosistemas frente a eventos climáticos extremos. Sin embargo, los conflictos entre la conservación y los intereses económicos, junto con la falta de recursos financieros, siguen siendo desafíos significativos. La participación comunitaria se destacó como un factor clave para el éxito de las iniciativas, especialmente a través de la cogestión y la educación ambiental. Indicators and accounting methods for assessing corporate social responsibility
Get PDFThe growing attention to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and its impact on sustainability has highlighted the importance of establishing accounting methods and standards to assess and communicate these commitments in a transparent manner. This study, based on a comprehensive review of academic and technical literature, set out to analyze the main indicators and accounting methods used to evaluate CSR, addressing their applicability, advantages and limitations in different corporate contexts. Through a literature review methodology, approaches such as ESG (environmental, social and governance) indicators and regulatory frameworks such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) were analyzed and compared. The results highlight the lack of standardization and complexity in obtaining accurate data as key challenges, along with the risk of greenwashing and limitations in integrating CSR metrics into traditional accounting systems. We conclude that, although significant challenges remain, CSR accounting offers clear benefits for business decision making by improving stakeholder perception and attracting investors interested in sustainable practices.La creciente atención a la Responsabilidad Social Corporativa (RSC) y su impacto en sostenibilidad ha resaltado la importancia de establecer métodos y estándares contables que permitan evaluar y comunicar estos compromisos de forma transparente. Este estudio, basado en una revisión exhaustiva de literatura académica y técnica, se propuso analizar los principales indicadores y métodos contables empleados para evaluar la RSC, abordando su aplicabilidad, ventajas y limitaciones en diferentes contextos corporativos. A través de una metodología de revisión bibliográfica, se analizaron y compararon enfoques como los indicadores ESG (ambientales, sociales y de gobernanza) y marcos normativos como el Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) y el Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB). Los resultados destacan la falta de estandarización y la complejidad en la obtención de datos precisos como desafíos clave, junto con el riesgo de "greenwashing" y las limitaciones en la integración de métricas de RSC en sistemas contables tradicionales. Concluimos que, aunque persisten desafíos significativos, la contabilidad de RSC ofrece beneficios claros para la toma de decisiones empresariales, al mejorar la percepción de los stakeholders y atraer inversores interesados en prácticas sostenibles
Innovative Practices for Sustainable Feed Production in Swine Production
Get PDFThe study addresses the issue of sustainability in swine production, highlighting the need for alternatives that reduce environmental impact and optimize the use of resources. The objective is to analyze innovative feeding practices that include the customization of diets and the use of alternative ingredients. For this purpose, an exploratory approach based on documentary analysis of recent scientific literature was used, prioritizing studies that address the efficiency, sustainability and profitability of these systems. The results show that precision feeding and the use of ingredients such as insect proteins and industrial by-products not only reduce nitrogen and phosphorus emissions, but also reduce operating costs and improve feed conversion efficiency. The discussion highlights that, although the adoption of these technologies represents a considerable initial investment, the long-term savings potential and environmental benefits justify their implementation, especially in a context of increasing demand for sustainability. In conclusion, these practices offer a viable pathway to more responsible and economically profitable swine production, although they require institutional support to facilitate their adoption on a small scale.El estudio aborda la problemática de la sostenibilidad en la producción porcina, destacando la necesidad de alternativas que reduzcan el impacto ambiental y optimicen el uso de recursos. El objetivo es analizar prácticas innovadoras de alimentación que incluyan la personalización de dietas y el uso de ingredientes alternativos. Para ello, se utilizó un enfoque exploratorio basado en análisis documental de literatura científica reciente, priorizando estudios que aborden la eficiencia, sostenibilidad y rentabilidad de estos sistemas. Los resultados muestran que la alimentación de precisión y el uso de ingredientes como proteínas de insectos y subproductos industriales no solo reducen las emisiones de nitrógeno y fósforo, sino que también disminuyen los costos operativos y mejoran la eficiencia de conversión alimenticia. La discusión destaca que, aunque la adopción de estas tecnologías representa una inversión inicial considerable, el potencial de ahorro a largo plazo y los beneficios ambientales justifican su implementación, especialmente en un contexto de creciente demanda de sostenibilidad.
