Analysis of Resistance and Flow Velocity on Barge Skeg VariationsUsing Computational Fluid Dynamics Method
The maritime sector utilizes various technologies, including barges, which rely on tugboats for propulsion due to lacking their propulsion system. To enhance sailing efficiency, stern modifications through skeg additions can optimize performance, though these affect drag force and velocity. This study analyzed 12 skeg variations using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation via ANSYS Workbench software to determine optimal design configurations. At 4 knots, the analysis revealed variation 3 as the most efficient design, producing a drag force of 17,775.80 N and velocity-u of 2.07198 m/s. Similarly, at 8 knots, variation 3 maintained optimal performance with a drag force of 67,405.60 N and velocity-u of 4.1430 m/s. Results demonstrated that variation 3 consistently provided the most stable and optimal performance across low and high speeds. These findings provide valuable insights for future barge design considerations, offering a reliable reference for selecting optimal skeg configurations

A Glance At Furnitur Bertutur: A Temporary Exhibition At Jakarta History Museum
The Furnitur Bertutur exhibition, held at the Jakarta History Museum from October 2024 to January 2025, presents an overview of Dutch East Indies or Indies style furniture as a manifestation of material encounters and hybridity between European and Nusantaran societies in colonial Jakarta/Batavia. This exhibition showcases various types of historical furniture mostly from the Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie (VOC) period, such as chairs, tables, and cabinets, highlighting craftsmanship and cross-cultural influences mirroring the multi-layered history of Jakarta. This paper aims to inquire the exhibition practice while providing constructive criticism regarding its substance from critical museology, art history and interior architecture perspectives. The method used is a comparative architectural criticism, involving direct observation towards the exhibition’s presentation, an analysis of its narrative and displayed information, spatial layout, and curatorial approach, then compare them with relevant historical and theoretical references. The exhibition manages to display the richness of Indies furniture in an attractive and engaging setting. The integration of digital catalogue as explanatory medium is effective and the catalogue itself is well designed. There are however notable shortcomings. In the display space, several items seemed to be out of scope thematically and chronologically, while reconstructed rooms show anachronistic elements that may misled casual observers. In its narrative, some of the omitted information obscure the exhibition’s scope, as well as crucial aspects of Batavian live which could have enhanced understanding of the displayed pieces. Some statements seem to contradict referenced sources and are not sufficiently discussed, giving the negative impression of a didactic revision. Nevertheless, this exhibition deserves appreciation for reigniting interests in Indies furniture as a complex historical heritage. Some of its significant elements have the potential to be preserved as part of the museum’s permanent exhibition.
Pemetaan Tiga Dimensi Gua Aul Di Desa Cikupa-Ciamis, Jawa Barat Menggunakan Terrestrial Laser Scanner (TLS)
This study examines the potential of Terrestrial Laser Scanner (TLS) technology in documenting and understanding the characteristics of cave spaces as part of geospatial and cultural heritage. The study was conducted in Aul Cave, West Java, as part of efforts to preserve and interpret underground spaces through a digital spatial approach. Using the Trimble X7 TLS, this research produced a comprehensive three-dimensional representation of the cave structure, including its geometric shape and surface characteristics. The analysis focused on the differences in material properties between natural elements such as stalactites and rock walls, and artificial materials such as cement and paving blocks, based on laser reflection intensity values. Through this approach, the study not only provides precise visual documentation but also opens up possibilities for interpreting the function of cave spaces and indications of past human activity. The results of the study show that TLS is not only effective as a documentation tool but also relevant as a spatial analysis method in archaeological, geospatial, and cultural heritage preservation studies. This approach is expected to encourage broader utilization of digital technology in spatial-based research and the preservation of underground cultural heritage.
