The Clash of Civilization: A Prognosis of the Future or the Lure of the Past
No full textThe story begins when Samuel P. Huntington – the famous political scientist from a highly prestigious university, Harvard University and a citizen of the strongest power on earth – write an articles, entitled “The Clash of Civilization?†in Foreign Affairs. Soon enough the article invites highly critical comments from several scholars. Not someone who can easily be set aside, Huntington give his response to his critics by asking a challenging question, “If not civilizations, What?†If anything the criticism only harden his conviction that civilization, instead of ideology, economy, or whatever, would become the basis of conflict in the post cold war. He doesn’t stop with this rather cynical question, he writes a book with the same subject and title, but without a question mark. Huntington, “the seekerâ€, has in the meantime become the “true believer†– as Eric Hoffer would have called him. He also defends his position in several interview he gives after the publication of the book
Watu Semar: Sebuah Refleksi Pemikiran dan Budaya Lokal Masyarakat Sambongrejo, Bojonegoro
No full textDikarenakan kuatnya keberadaan Watu Semar berkat mitosnya, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengungkap makna dan peran Watu Semar bagi masyarakat pemilik mitos, yakni para penduduk asli Desa Sambongrejo di Kabupaten Bojonegoro. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemikiran dan budaya lokal masyarakat tersebut melalui keberadaan serta mitos Watu Semar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah studi lapangan dengan wawancara mendalam yang dipadukan dengan teori Kritik Sastra Lisan dari Alan Dundes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mitos Watu Semar, yang dipercaya memiliki hubungan kuat dengan sosok Punakawan Semar, kuat dilanggengkan melalui pewarisan secara turun-temurun sebagai budaya kepercayaan khas masyarakat Sambongrejo. Bagi mereka, Watu Semar memiliki arti yang signifikan sebagai dulur, saudara kandung mereka sendiri, dan dan bernilai historis sehingga begitu dihormati. Watu Semar berperan sebagai simbol kepercayaan lokal serta bentuk ekspresi budaya (uri-uri budoyo) masyarakat Desa Sambongrejo yang notabene memiliki kecenderungan pemikiran ke hal-hal mistis. Karenanya di dalam masyarakat Sambongrejo, keberadaan Watu Semar dan mitosnya memiliki pengaruh yang sangat besar, dimana ia merupakan refleksi pemikiran dan basis kebudayaan dari masyarakat lokal Sambongrejo itu sendiri
KYAI SELEBRITI DAN MEDIA BARU
No full textTulisan ini menganalisis munculnya kyai selebriti di Indonesia utamanya pada K.H. Anwar Zahid yang ceramahnya banyak diunggah di media YouTube. Model dakwah dari waktu ke waktu terus berubah, dan ceramah di YouTube adalah salah satu bentuk bagaimana dakwah disebarluaskan melalui media baru. Studi ini akan menguji seberapa besar peran YouTube sebagai media baru dalam menciptakan otoritas baru bagi seorang kyai melalui pengajiannya. Kajian ini penting untuk melihat bagaimana kehadiran media baru memperkuat otoritas kyai sebagai pemimpin agama di masyarakat. Pertanyaan yang hendak saya jawab dalam penelitian ini adalah seperti apakah otoritas kyai di era media baru?. Bagaimana K.H. Anwar Zahid membangun otoritasnya?, serta, bagaimana K.H. Anwar Zahid menggunakan otoritas tersebut dalam ceramahnya?. Penelitian ini mengkombinasikan data empiris dan teoritis terhadap ceramah K.H. Anwar Zahid yang bersifat online (YouTube) dan offline (langsung). Hasil studi ini menunjukkan bahwa media baru tidak menggeser otoritas tradisional seorang kyai sebagai pemimpin agama, tetapi justru otoritas tersebut semakin diperkuat dengan otoritas selebriti dari media baru yang mendapat pengakuan secara konsensus oleh masyarakat. The model of has changed over time, and on YouTube is one of the models in which xis disseminated through new media. This study will examines how far the roles of YouTube as a new media in creating new authority for a . This study is important to see how the existence of new media strengthens the 's authority as a religious leader in society. The questions to be answered in this research are the following: How is ’s authority in the era of new media? How did K.H. Anwar Zahid builds his authority? How did K.H. Anwar Zahid use that authority in his dakwah? This research combines empirical and theoretical data on K.H. Anwar Zahid which explore the online (YouTube) and offline (direct) data. The results of this study indicate that the new media does not shift the traditional authority of a as a religious leader, but rather the authority is further strengthened with the celebrity’s authority of a new media that gets consensus recognition by the public
NELAYAN BRONDONG DALAM KONSTRUKSI KEBERAGAMAAN (STUDI FENOMENOLOGI PADA MASYARAKAT NELAYAN DI KECAMATAN BRONDONG, KABUPATEN LAMONGAN)
No full textStudi ini bertujuan untuk memahami esensi keberagamaan nelayan dengan cara: 1) Menjelaskan transformasi ideologi dan agama yang terjadi di Brondong dari masa ke masa, 2) Memahami secara mendalam proses konstruksi sosial masyarakat nelayan Brondong dalam memaknai agama. Kedua permasalahan tersebut akan didekati dengan perspektif Konstruksi Sosial Peter.L.Berger dan Thomas Luckmann dan Praktik Sosial Pierre Bourdieu, dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Dari hasil analisis diperoleh kesimpulan sebagai berikut, pertama, bahwa transformasi ideologi dan agama yang terjadi pada masa Kerajaan Mataram hingga pergerakan sosial pada tahun 1965 berpengaruh pada dinamika ideologi dan keagamaan masyarakat nelayan Brondong. Kedua, konstruksi sosial atas religisutas nelayan menunjukkan adanya perbedaan keberagamaan di level struktural dan kultural karena terjadi kompetisi kekuatan modal sosial dan modal simbolik yang dipertarungkan dalam ranah masyarakat nelayan Brondong. This study aims to understand the religious essence of fishermen by: (1) Explaining the ideological and religious transformations that occurred in Brondong from time to time, (2) Understanding the social construction process of the Brondong fishermen community in interpreting religion. Both issues will be approached with the perspective of PeterL.Berger and Thomas Luckmann’s Social Construction and Pierre Bourdieu's Social Practice, with a phenomenological approach.From the analysis results obtained the following conclusion. First, the transformation of ideology and religion that occurred during the Mataram Kingdom until the social movement in 1965 influenced the ideological and religious dynamics of the fishing community Brondong. Second, the social construction of the religiosity of fishermen shows the existence of religious differences in the structural and cultural levels due to competition of social capital and symbolic capital which is fought in the realm of fishing society of Brondong

No full textThis study aims to understand the needs and search for information from primiparous mothers, so that they can provide appropriate information and certainly can reduce maternal anxiety towards postpartum depression. The research method used is a case study on WhatsApp Group (WAG) Zona Mama. The result is that there is concern and anxiety from primiparous mothers in the postpartum phase. This happens because of a lack of information about topics such as breastfeeding, how to care for children, and complementary feeding provided by information providers such as health workers and librarians. Information searching that has been done so far using an active scanning model that is carrying out active information retrieval, but does not have a detailed plan. Therefore, it seems that information leaflets from information providers such as hospitals and libraries are needed by new mothers. Sometimes websites and forums are doubtful by mothers. They need an information center that is consistent and controlled by professional

No full textThe aim of this study is to explore the student information behaviors of the Faculty of Humanities, UNDIP. Research uses quantitative methods to describe student behavior in information search. The study found that Google is the most popular site for the students when they are looking for information. However, they still use the primary resources such as academic journals as their main references. The study also found that the students have less used the subscribed academic databases. The identification of students’ information behavior is important as it will be used for the enhancement of UNDIP library services. The results of this study can also be used as a library reference for UNDIP in designing user education that will support the improvement of student information search skills

This research used the qualitative research methods, with a critical discourse analysis approach. Data was obtained from news texts published by online media during in 2018. Especially those containing fake news relating to general elections. Data collection used documentation techniques. The results showed that what was needed to control fake news were by making people healthy in cyberspace. The government must worked together with various organizations to disseminate and educate the public regarding content in cyberspace. In addition, the government have also set up a special institution which was tasked with overseeing the circulation of news on the internet and testing the truth
