No full textThis study aims to identify and analyze the contribution of business units in realizing the library as a public sphere in the Unissula library. Specifically, the business unit studied was the canteen in the Unissula library. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research method. The results showed that the business unit (i.e. canteen) in the Unissula library was considered to be a place for the realization of public sphere for the users. The location of the canteen which is close to the services in the library makes users feel free to chat with other users on the sidelines of utilizing the existing services of the Unissula library. The design of the canteen by providing adequate tables and chairs also makes users comfortable in meetings, discussions and interactions with other users

No full textArchives have an important role in the preservation of cultural heritage buildings by the form of information about the history and development of cultural heritage buildings. Archives of heritage buildings are dynamic archives that are vital. Management thus must take priority. This study aims to the use of archives in the preservation of cultural heritage in Indonesia. A systematic review method was used with a qualitative approach. Collection data methods were conducted by planning, implementation, and reporting. The findings showed there are only two articles that review the archives in preservation heritage. Furthermore, our challenge is the lack of cultural heritage documents that most archives used were under regulations on the preservation of cultural heritage. Almost all articles thus showed a preservation model on physical forms and cultural heritage buildings

No full textCenter for Scientific Documentation and Information of Indonesian Institute of Sciences has already created a platform system which is intended to facilitate people in accessing and obtaining the scientific information. The institution promotes platform services which enable people to easily find the scientific information required for their research paper. This study aims at analyzing the corporate promotional communication strategies. Researchers use eight effective promotional communication elements which consist of identifying the targeted audience, determining the communication objectives, designing the messages, selecting the channels, budgeting, deciding promotional tools, measuring the results, managing and coordinating the integrated marketing communications. This research is a single case study which data are collected from in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The results show that the promotional communication strategies have already fulfilled seven of eight effective promotion communication elements although it is still not optimal yet. The element which has not been fulfilled is on measuring the promotional results. Cost budgeting is one element which also requires to be optimized more. It would be better if the institution uses objective and task method to clearly define the specific objectives and determine the required tasks to perform in achieving those objectives as well as to estimate costs in performing those tasks. By implementing these methods, it is expected that the short-term and long-term goals may be clearly defined that the goals of the promotional activities may be achieved better. In addition, the team formation focusing on the promotional activities may also become a consideration for the effectively and efficiently integrated marketing and promotional communication

No full textThe electronic journal system based on the Open Journal System (OJS) developed by KKP is a system used for the management of publishing a scientific journal. With this system the journal management process becomes easier, faster and also transparent. To see whether the system that has been designed is in accordance with the wishes of the user and how much the level of satisfaction, it is necessary to evaluate the system that has been running. The evaluation carried out in this study uses 4 characteristics found in ISO / IE 25010. The results are in testing functional suitability characteristics, the system meets the standard because the main function of the system built runs smoothly because it has a value of X close to 1 which is 0.9 . In testing the performance efficiency characteristics have met the standard because the average time required to load the page for 3.7 seconds. On the usability characteristics, 76% of respondents stated that the MAARIF journal management system electronically was quite useful and satisfied for the manager and active reader of MAARIF Journal. Meanwhile, the security characteristics test shows that MAARIF electronic journal management system has level 2 or medium level security

No full textToday the implementation of information technology in libraries has become a basic need to organize the information, not least in Indonesia. Lack of economic capital (fund) and intellectual capital (human resources that have IT educational background) cause many library in Indonesia can not be able to buy or self develop the information technology. However SLiMS attend like a panacea, which capable of treating and eliminating the limitations of most libraries in Indonesia. SLiMS is an open source software for the Library Management that can be downloaded and implemented for free. In addition Slims rarely have the power owned by a software (information systems) that is a SLiMS User Community. In Indonesia, SLiMS User Community has mushrooming in various regions across Indonesia, one of them in Yogyakarta. Growth and development of SLiMS User Community in Yogyakarta is a manifestation of social capital for the library with lack of information technology implementation. The purpose of this study is to reveal the values and norms are upheld by the Yogyakarta SLiMS User Community that foster social capital which drives community activities as an agent who eliminate the lack of economic capital and intellectual capital that suffered by many libraries in Indonesia. The method used is qualitative method with phenomenological approach. The results showed that the values and norms are upheld together by the Yogyakarta SLiMS User Community is becoming a agent of change of the library conditions in Indonesia, to contribute the automation development in Indonesia. That value and norms are expressed through the sinau bareng. Through sinau bareng, they were learning together to implement SLiMS. Sinau bareng was held each month by a Yogyakarta SLiMS User Community. it became the antidote the lack of libraries. So it will bring justice for all types of libraries to have the right to fulfi ll their basic needs of implementing information technology as library management system

No full textThis purposed of study to determine: 1) the types of information packaging products; 2) the process of information repackaging; and 3) the complied effort to the user information needs of smart scale enterprises (UKM) through PDII-LIPI information packs. Data of this study is a descriptive. Data collected by a discussion with the users or subscribers of information repackaging products of PDII-LIPI. The collected data are then be identified, analyzed, and interpreted the results and discussion chapter. The results of this study are known: 1) the types of information repackaging products of PDII-LIPI, namely: paket informasi teknologi, informasi kilat, pohon industri, panduan usaha, tinjauan literatur, fokus informasi indonesia, dan film animasi; 2) the process of making the package of information repackaging PDII-LIPI, namely the determination of topics, literature searching, analysis of the literature, making the design/template, duplication of information packing, and report generation; and 3) the efforts of institutions to complied the information needs of UKM through the product of information repackaging, namely: promotion, identification of needs, choosing the sources of information, product offerings, product evaluation utilization, and create innovative policies. In principle that the packaging of the information provided and created by PDII-LIPI had oriented by information needs of users, in particular to meet the UKM information needs

No full textThe main focus of this paper is to elaborate social inclusion in the mosque library. This paper is a qualitative descriptive approach that intends to know the history and understanding of the mosque library, the role of what is being done mosque libraries, and describes the shape of social inclusion in the mosque library. The conclusion that the mosque library is part of an effort to build awareness of inclusion and empower the community to become more mature in religion and society. This empowerment among others with facilitation, education, and accommodation needs of people of all religious communities without discriminating user community in terms of religion, creed, class, physical and so on, the mosque library is the embodiment of democracy and the means to the community well informed. Mosque Libraries should be able to accommodate the information needs of users, into an open space for social activities, and become lifelong education
BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF THE INKOM JOURNAL (ANALISIS BIBLIOMETRIK JURNAL INKOM)
No full textThis paper proposed main problems of quantity and quality measurement of the research articles published in INKOM journal for 5 years period in informatics, computers and control system. Those three areas have become research missions of The Research Center for Informatics – Indonesia Institute of Sciences. The aim of this paper is to show how to solve research problems above using bibliometric method to analyze bibliography data available in the journal as well as to offer a summary of the research activity in the area including its most important aspects. Bibliographical data are taken from 76 articles published in the journal from May 2007 to November 2011. This paper also discusses how the method is used to measure article distribution, magazine classification category, article subject distribution, authorship patterns, and institutions distribution contributions. Results of the research show that the majority of articles are contributed by multi authors with degree of collaboration 0,553; the journal has already been widely known by the researchers outside LIPI, researchers from non-LIPI institution dominated more on the publication than from LIPI itself. The quantity of research articles increased in 2011 and used more references from scientific articles than the year before. Besides, the research quality also increased and used more cited articles from scientific journal literature than from books
